Blackburn’s top flight status hangs by a thread, with Victor Moses looming over them like a tricky Edward Scissorhands. Tonight’s game is as crucial as they come and our Dugout Discussion chatroom is open wide ready to take in your reactions as the match unfolds.

Just a point for Robert Martinez’ progressive Latics will keep them safe and complete another miraculous escape act. Steve Kean can only look on at their position in envy, knowing that even a win under the Ewood lights may not be enough for Rovers to scramble clear.

The team news tells a story – Wigan are unchanged again, confident in their lineup and 3-5-2 system that has brought them such success in the final furlong. As for Rovers, there’s just a whiff of desperation lingering amongst the bovril and balti pies. Anthony Modeste starts for Mauro Formica, with Steve Kean set to play him up top with Yakubu. Junior Hoilett will presumably get off the phone from his agent long enough to take up a place on the wing.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

What is the most logical move for me this week?

    Krul (eve)

Verm (wba), Rangel (LIV), Walker (FUL)
Siggy (LIV), Valencia (sun), Pienaar (NEW), Bale (FUL)
RVP (wba), Cisse (eve), Jelavic (NEW)

    Subs: HBA, Richards, Evans, Begovic

    5.4m in the bank 1FT

Obviously I'm not overly interested in my defense or subs. The starting 11 is all that matters for this coming weekend. I don't think I can make too many changes to my midfield as I would like to start HBA if I could so I'm already fairly loaded there. Two Everton attackers might be a bit much against Newcastle so how does these transfers sound.

    A) Jelavic > Aguero
    B) Jelavic > Torres (differential)
    C) something else?

Really? I suppose Cisse is playing away and isn't on penalties but Baines could very well be back this weekend negating Jelly's influence. Newcastle also have a lot more to play for.

but back then, he was full of the joys of spring, full of beans and geared up for a good season.

now he's just cooling down after securing EPL survival.

of course, being a pro he should give his all. put himself in the shop window etc.

in the ups and downs of my rollercoaster style of FPL Management, i'm now on a down and looking to make some safe decisions:

    Demps > Mata
    Jelavic > Aguero

    Krul
    Verm, Kaboul, JEvans (Caulker)
    Bale, Valencia, Mata, Pienaar
    RvP, Aguero, PCisse

    Mig, Siggy, McAuley

    thoughts?

hopefully i'll be on an up later and think about making some flair transfers......

yep. 2FT's and 6.2m in the bank.

        just can't help feeling that they're too safe. i mean it's GW38!

i'm 120 points ahead in my main ML and i'm gunning for a top 5k finish. so i'm thinking of going out all guns blazing with some hits and some flair moves.

I would consider Torres instead of Aguero if you want a bit more flair. Mata is worth having though for sure. Blackburn will be the new Wolves and could be on a massive downer for their final game of the season. I think there will be a lot of goals

How about Demps->Silva and Jelavic->Aguero. I see the score as 4-0 when they face QPR(h). Don't think they are gonna go defensive after a goal up. They are much too superior as a team.

It's also a good team to stare at after we are through with the season. For one month, whenever you log-in that is the team you will be looking at. I think that's an important factor.. 🙂

Alreet lads. I was going to give the euros game a miss. But then what else would I do over the summer!!

From comments on here, it seems the game is based more on the champions league game, rather than the fpl one. Would anyone be kind enough to give me a summary of the main differences?

I see that you can make subs during a game week. Does this mean it makes more sense to get more mid priced players, rather than a mix of expensive and cheap players?

Have you decided on the gaps you were yet to fill...

Group A (Poland, Russia, Czech, Greece) seems to be the best group to get mid-priced and cheap players.

Group B could be highly notorious. Even though the fixtures are tough, goals could easily flow in that group. I reckon they will be few clean sheets, so I'm avoiding any defender from this group. And obviously, no one should be going for any player of Netherlands.

Group C and Group D seem to be straightforward. Just pick the best of the lot that you can afford here.

Doesn't the budget seem a little too less, finding it hard to put a solid team out...And since the budget won't increase it will be hard from quarter-finals onwards.

Mind you but is the City vs QPR game going to be a high scoring one? One plays for the title and the other plays for survival. Definitely will end a goalless first half?

If in need of differentials, I suppose have a look at Chelsea. Ramires and Torres look like the main candidates there to pick up the points, and obviously Mata and Drogba are expected to bench for the UCL final.

Even just to save for one point that will ensure your survival, QPR are in for their best and they have a reputation of beating these top teams.

I saw your draft on the last page. It has a few cheapies. I was thinking, that due to the mid gameweek subs rule, it would be better to load up on mid priced players (with the odd expensive one), rather than a mix of expensive and cheapies. What do you think?

Depends, i think players like Ozil and Iniesta and the odd cheapy will still outscore the likes of 3 random mid-priced players.

I'm still tinkering so will figure it out.

To anyone thinking of making a hit this week, remember that the player that you get in has to basically score one more goal than the person you would have played instead, just to break even.

In my opinion, you should only take a hit if:

    a) you can't put out 11 players
    b) you are going to captain the player that you bring in, at home against a rubbish defense (but remember you have a ft for this)
    c) you need to fund a move for b), but really, the downgrade should also have a good chance of getting more points than the player he replaces
    d) it sets you up for a number of games, so you have more chance of making the points back.

ie there are not many instances where it will be advisable to take a hit this week!!

No, but I should do!! I've nearly gone against it many times. Have to keep reminding myself. I just stopped myself from getting in big verm for a hit last week! Any more to add to the list?

        e) Never take a hit for a defender (except in DGW and when you only have two fit defenders)
        f) Of course a hit in a DGW is ok

Michal Kadlec for the Czech Republic is a 5.5 defender who is on penalties and free kicks.

Many here are going for the second GW WC, since you have a free wildcard after 4 games anyway. So Kadlec is a bad shout for GW 1 going against Russia who were one of the better defensive sides in the qualifyers.

Nailed on players - None are 100% but the closest seem to be Ribery, Benzema, and Villa (if guaranteed fit). Also thinking of Jelavic(will he play) and Dzagoev.

So far I have only though of this -:

Group A (Poland, Russia, Czech, Greece) seems to be the best group to get mid-priced and cheap players.

Group B could be highly notorious. Even though the fixtures are tough, goals could easily flow in that group. I reckon they will be few clean sheets, so I’m avoiding any defender from this group. And obviously, no one should be going for any player of Netherlands.

Group C and Group D seem to be straightforward. Just pick the best of the lot that you can afford here.

The budget seem a little too less, finding it hard to put a solid team out…And since the budget won’t increase it will be even harder from quarter-finals onwards.

Petr Cech is out of Chelsea’s Barclays Premier League clash with Liverpool as Roberto Di Matteo clings on to the dream of finishing fourth.
Cech, who was outstanding in Saturday’s FA Cup final triumph at Wembley over Kenny Dalglish’s side, has BEEN RESTED by Chelsea’s interim manager.

    Vorm (Schwarzer)
Jagielka - Caulker - Lescott - Verm (JEvans)
Bale - VDV - Dempsey (HBA - Siggy)
    Rooney - Jelavic - RVP

    Should I do:

    A) Rooney -> Aguero
    B) Jelavic -> Aguero, and Dempsey to 4.7 player (maloney?)
    C) Rooney -> Aguero, and Dempsey to Silva
