Antolin Alcaraz keeps Wigan in the Premier League with a dramatic late winner at Ewood Park. Jean Beausejour proves to be the key creator once again as the Latics chalk up their sixth victory in the last eight Gameweeks. Blackburn, on the other hand, are relegated to the Championship after another dire display:

Antolin Alcaraz
The Latics may been outstanding at the back in recent home games – their last three at the DW have seen clean sheets picked up against Stoke, United and Newcastle – but on the road, it’s been a different matter altogether. Roberto Martinez’s side had returned a single away clean sheet all season prior to last night, in their very first road trip at Swansea back in Gameweek 2. Alcaraz’s winner in the 1-0 triumph means he has now returned a couple of goals and four clean sheets in the last seven Gameweeks and, with the maximum bonus points in the bag, has averaged over 6 points per game over that period of time – more than any other player in Martinez’s side since Gameweek 31 onwards. His presence at the back is clearly vital – the Latics have seven clean sheets in the 25 games Alcaraz has featured in, compared to a single clean sheet in the 12 matches he missed through injury.

Jean Beausejour
The former Birmingham man has been a crucial component of the Latics’ 3-4-2-1 system since joining back in January. Beausejour has started every match from Gameweek 23 onwards and has picked up in consistency over the last few Gameweeks. Last night’s assist for Alcaraz’s last-minute goal was his fourth in his last seven appearances but, despite his recent form, a mere 103 Fantasy managers drafted him in prior to Saturday’s deadline – Victor Moses was snapped up by over 93,000 Fantasy owners in comparison. With the pressure now off, it’s basically a straight fight between Bolton and QPR to avoid the drop; Wigan, on the other hand, play host to relegated Wolves next Sunday and, given their outstanding run of form, more Fantasy managers will be turning to the Latics as the season draws to a close.

Yakubu
Blackburn’s Ewood Park blank was the fifth time in the last seven matches Steve Kean’s side have failed to find the net, with their over-reliance on the Nigerian’s goals proving their undoing. While Yakubu has netted 16 times this term, averaging 4.7 points per game (almost on a par with Juan Mata’s 4.8, for example) he has found the net in just two of his last 12 matches – with the goals drying up for the summer signing, only Junior Hoilett, with seven strikes all season, has stepped up. With confidence rock bottom and the fans venting their fury, a trip to the Bridge next Sunday could see plenty snapping up Chelsea’s assets as they seek to finish the season with a win over Kean’s beleaguered side.

Majstorovic is injured and won't play, but apart from that it looks like a very good week one team. I'd back Lewandowski over Ibra too (maybe Kallstrom or Larsson in the middle?)

Tah, I just don't see the point in splashing out cash on Spain & co when they all play each other in GW1. And also you get enough transfers during the KO rounds to survive so using a WC in the Group stages is pretty logical.

Get Seb in place of Majstovic.
      Abate>Zhirkov
      Blaszek>Mandzukic(OOP)

    Right, lineups part two:

    Netherlands:
    Steklenberg 6.5
Van der Wiel 7.0, Mathijisen 6.5, Heitinga 7.0, Boulahrouz 6.0

Left back spot is a doubt as Pieters is injured so Boulahrouz will probably deputise.

    Portugal:
    Rui Patricio 5.5/Eduardo 5.0
    J. Pereira 6.0, Alves 7.0, Pepe 6.5, Coentrao 6.5

    Russia:
    Akinfeev 5.5/Malafeev 5.0
    Anyukov 6.0, V Berezutski 6.0, Ignashevich 6.5, Zhirkov 6.0

    Poland:
    Szczesny 5.0
    Wasilewski 5.5, Jodlowiec 4.0, Perquis 4.5, Piszczek 5.0/Wawrzyniak 5.0

And Ukraine and Denmark defences really aren't worth investing in IMO (neither is Portugal or the Netherlands for the price), but for the sake of completeness:

    Denmark:
    Sorensen 4.5
    Jacobsen 4.5, Agger 5.5, Kjaer 5.0, S. Poulsen 4.5

    Ukraine:
    Shovkovskiy 5.0
    Rakitskiy 5.5, Mikhalik 5.0, Mandyzuk 5.0, Kucher 5.0

(Due to lack of Uefa stats the Ukraine lineup is very much guesswork)

I'll post the whole thing with corrections at some point later 😉

Yeah, Pieters won't travel according to this: http://www.uefa.com/uefaeuro/news/newsid=1794114.html

So while the LB spot is the cheapest way into the Dutch defence, its also the most risky. The next few friendlies should help establish a first choice

Schaars was a great adition to our team this year.. very good player, plays in front of defense and is very good at free-kicks and corners..

Don´t know if he´ll have a chance though..what do you reckon?

unlikely, his last action for NL was as a sub as LB. Good player but certainly wouldn't have in in centre mid with all the talent available there. de Jong (N), van Bommel, Strootman, VDV are all ahead of him.

I wasn't playing FF back in 2004, just collecting the Panini stickers 😛
But if I was I might've advised against investment, they had Portugal, Spain and Russia in their group 😉

But while Agger is playing, so will Christian Poulsen in all likelihood, that can't end well, Agger is their only player I really rate..

Toure may well start a tad deeper again as usual. He may well remain there for the most part as I doubt they will struggle to score/look to win. Silva has looked weary. Nasri is playing pretty well and he seems to be quite suited to the FPL bonus. I would like to go with him myself...

Right, a few points on Fantasy Euro 2012

During GW1 the 'big' teams play each other.

    Germany vs Portugal
    Spain vs Italy
    France vs England

The way around this I see is using the WC for Gameweek 2.

After GW1 the 'big' teams fixtures become much easier.

    GW2
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Italy vs Croatia
    Spain vs Republic of Ireland
    England vs Sweden
    France vs Ukraine

    GW3
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Italy vs Republic of Ireland
    Spain vs Croatia
    England vs Ukraine
    France vs Sweden

The advantage of this also is that going into the latter stages, the number of transfers increases, therefore you will not be enforced to play your WC. After the group stages you are also allowed unlimited transfers for the Quarters.
