After a brief three-day hiatus from the Euro 2012 action, we’re raring to go once again as Spain take on Portugal this evening in the first semi-final of the tournament. With only three games left of the competition, there are big decisions to be made by Fantasy managers looking to get that vital edge in their mini-leagues. As always, we’ve opened up the Dugout Discussion ahead of kick-off:

The team news is in and is as follows:

Vicente Del Bosque makes one alteration to Spain’s lineup from the side that saw off France 2-0 in the previous round. It’s a move that will surprise many, with Alvaro Negredo handed the chance to lead the line, as Cesc Fabregas joins Fernando Torres on the bench. Portugal also make a single change but it’s one that had been anticipated. With Helder Postiga due to a hamstring injury, Hugo Almeida is given the lone forward role.

Spain XI: Casillas; Arbeloa, Ramos, Pique, Jordi Alba; Busquets, Alonso, Xavi; Silva, Negredo, Iniesta

Portugal XI: Patricio: Pereira, Pepe, Bruno Alves, CoentrAo; Veloso, Meireles, Moutinho; Nani, Almeida, Ronaldo

        +1. I can easily see the negredo punt (which I am also going for) backfiring and the casuals with their Silva (c) winning. I also think Silva will score more.

    so i asked this early, but now i'm getting worried by the number of ppl who have ozil. currently i have 1.2 in the bank with 0 free transfers. i really want to do schwein to ozil but that would mean a -3 hit. we all know how explosive ozil can be but it also seems like a -3 hit isnt sensible at this time. so what do you think?

          too much Italy for me, but hardly surprising. Still if Portugal and Italy do lose you will be fine. I have gone heavy on Germany and gone 3 Spain and 3 Portugal.

      I've gone for Pique (I have all 4 Spanish defenders). Biggest goal threat of the back 4, and as likely to pick up recovered ball points as any of them.

      Can't decide! It's on Negredo at the moment, but I think CR7 will score. The Spanish goals can come from anywhere, Portugal however, CR7 is usually involved. Might have convinced myself for CR7 there...
