Chelsea have this evening announced the signing of 20-year-old Brazilian Oscar from Internacional for a fee, reportedly in the region of £25 million. The young attacking midfielder, who can play centrally or on the flank, is currently on Olympic duty with his national side, offering us Fantasy managers and Chelsea fans the opportunity to assess his talents in the coming month.

Oscar is the latest acquisition by the Champions League winners who have been quick to flex their financial muscles following their triumph in Munich, capturing the likes of Eden Hazard and Marko Marin. The arrival of the South American playmaker is believed to take their Summer spending well beyond the £50 million mark.

For us Fantasy managers, this latest foray into the market adds further doubt to our selection of Chelsea’s attacking assets. Roberto Di Matteo’s side begin their campaign with a double Gameweek, taking on a trip to Wigan and a midweek home clash with newly promoted Reading. While that pair of fixtures offers obvious incentive for investment, Di Matteo’s first choice lineup is becoming more and more difficult to call by the week.

Chelsea face three league games in the space of six days with a home meeting with Newcastle looming in Gameweek 2; realistically Di Matteo will surely be looking to utilise his options to keep his lineup fresh. It looks difficult, perhaps almost impossible, to find an attacking player who is assured of starting all three of those matches.

We can at least presume that Oscar will take time to bed in and be given a number of weeks to acclimatise before being given a full Premier League debut. However, his arrival in the squad will mean that the uncertainty surrounding our Chelsea selections is set to remain long after the double Gameweek has passed.

We’ll bring you a full Scout Report on Oscar, with more analysis on his likely role and impact in the next 24-hours.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I find it unlikely that Lukaku will take Torres' place in GW1, considering he started what, one game last season? And rumors of loaning him out are in the air. Also Torres' end-of-season form was pretty good.

I'm more worried about the rest of the attack. Feel Ramires is getting a better and better choice considering his price and the fact that he is a player that adds a different dimension to their attacking midfield with his insane stamina, work-ratio and speed.

Well, no, that's the problem. None of the att midfield will be nailed down, even if they play insanely well there will be rotation and fierce competition for places. So much so that I'm considering dropping Hazard and going with 1 Chelsea defender + Torres for GW1.

Yeah same here. Ramires is basically a shuttling midfielder on the right side, goes up and down a lot. Who do you reckon his main competition is for that spot? Is it not too bad actually, and he could carve out a nailed-on niche for himself there?

In the current Chelsea team, I'd say Marin is the player that resembles him the most when it comes to playing style. He has a very high work rate as well, and has been excellent so far in the pre-season games. It's too early to tell, but I think Ramires will play a lot this season. However he doesn't generate the most assist and goals.

The good thing about Chelsea is that we will get a sneak preview for the Community Shield, so we should stop obsessing before that's done with.

thats my plan and im sticking to it.

if lamps starts only one, thats not the wost fail in the world, my money is on him starting both. May only be 120 minutes, but again it gives me a week to see what utd look like and have the money to get whichever i want. having 3 chelsea, i have to drop one anyway. its fullproof.

That wouldn't be a bad choice, i just hate relying on CSs in the Premier League as ant team have the potential to nick a goal, especially Wigan, who i deem to have very talented attackers in Moses & Beausejour.

Still keen. The unknowns in the utd & tot midfield make it all the more appealing to load up on Chelsea dgw. Worst case is probably he plays one of them which is still enough for double figure return

The Tottenham midfield is very predictable at the moment. Assuming Modric leaves that is. Hazard and Siggy for me with Rooney as United coverage. I'm planning Hazard to Kagawa gw2/3 to double on utd attack.

defence is decent, but not too sure about the midfield (notably yaya who may well play deep, park who could be hit or miss at qpr) better options out there i feel. I'll give it a 71

Any betting people here, it's said that the only certainties are death and taxes (unless you're Jimmy Carr) but surely whatever happens in the Olympics - Wiggins is nailed on for BBC sports personality??

I'd say so. Would've probably been Murray had he won Wimbledon. Should be Wiggins this year.

Actually, Torres is a nailed on, assuming Lukaku does move to Fulham on loan. Who else have they got? Sturridge could be used as a lone forward too but I think he will be used the same way he was used in the previous seasons.

Cheap rotation defenders! I see Demel, Clyne and Cuellar seems to be one of the most popular combinations, but are they nailed down? Are there any other combinations of 4.x 4.x & 4.0 players that rotate very well and have a better shot at being nailed down?

Maybe Ness (Stoke) or Nelsen (QPR, but apparently at the Olympics) too as possible 4.0 defenders? Not as likely to play as the ones you've already mentioned though.
