Having already run the rule over the Goalkeepers, and Defenders for the season ahead, the third part in our series of Members articles sees us analyse the midfielders. With the aid of our Projections we’ve analysed the average points expected per player over the course of the upcoming campaign and, applying this to the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) player price list, have listed the top ten in terms of expected value per Fantasy pound for the season ahead…

After united's match today i have a few questions.

    A) Do you think Kagawa is likely to be another modric in FF terms, assiting the assister, so not getting the points he deserves. As was the case twice today when he almost set up goals in his 20 min odd stint.

    B) With Jones on the bench Valencia filling in at RB and Carrick seemingly filling in at CB after vidic went off, does this spell bad news for both Valencia and Jones or was Fergie just not confident on Jones' fitness?

Kagawas stats for Dortmund suggest he will get assists, he plays too up front not to. A la Silva and I think Jones was not fit as Fergie was quoted on saying that he will start at RB against Everton.

Ja his dortmund stats are what first convinced me to go for him, plus fergie oft mentioned his goalscoring ability, hinting he would play him in an attacking role. Still i could see him feeding the ball out to Young/Nani/Valencia for them to feed it back in.

If he plays in most games than I think 10 ast is a possibility, playing nice 1-2s with Rooney or the wing players. That is what he is good at.

Agree with A, depending on what formation they will play.. in a 4-4-2 I can really see him being a "Modric" type of player.. if he gets to play further up behind a lone striker, he could be a real machine in FPL.
B, wouldnt worry too much about Valencia playing RB

Ja, I was also thinking it was dependent on formation. I agree that he will be far more dangerous in the 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-1-1

I must say this selection articles are way too much informative. If you read them carefully, pretty much you can let Mark pick your team honestly. Not good for our rankings and its like giving the computer to pick your team. I don't like it I must say.

When I first came on this site as a novice I was expecting this kind of articles but then I realized that here are facts given and sometimes opinion but they won't choose your team. I spent years to get some facts clear and how to get my choices right and sometimes wrong but this is what is all about.

I preferred the old FFS and the one incognito one. We can not influence that now FFS is in public I understand why is that and I support it. But this kind of articles let me pick your team are giving away value and competitive spirit on this game.

    Thoughts?

They give you so much about stats and average positions etc, help you to find out how involved players are. Tevez's v Aguero could be interesting later on down the line

Agree with you actually, most of what has been written has been on my mind pretty much all the time. Then again, they "have to" give their paying members something.
I guess the main point is, lot of the members here will have similiar teams. With that said, theres no guarantee at all that it will be succesful. 🙂
Read it as information, and make up your mind based on what u think.

If you're going to blame anyone for generic (argh) teams, blame FPL. They've set up a system which breeds it.

Any half-wit can figure out who the players to have will be by week 5 or so. The problem is the point/BP allocation system which, for example, make DMs utterly useless.

This same complaint was uttered when the link to FFS was installed on FPL last year and I had one of my best years. It doesn't seem to affected much. I doubt it will be any different this year. The game is partly about initial teams - but just as much, or more, about the changes that need to be made during the season, line ups/formations, and captain choice.

Don't worry - if you're good, you'll still be good.

Ness plays for Stoke, was signed from Rangers this year. He's young which makes me think he wont get much game time til next year. But he's been subbed on in the preseason during a few games. He's 4.0 and has been played in midfield in the preseasons when he came on.

How’s this for a team – taking a flyer on GW1 results going right and will then use transfers to change it up… going for a 4-3-3 for first couple of weeks

    Cech (De Gea GW3)
Lescott, Zabaletta, Ivanovic (Dawson GW3), Hangelaand
    Arteta, Sigurdsson, Michu
    Ba, Aguerro, Torres

    Subs: El Ahmedi, Robson-Kanu, Clyne

Am guessing it’ll get a beasting but gives me plenty of options with potential to get off to a flyer too..?

Yeah, that's where the subs come in - might end up having taken an 8 point hit by the time GW3 is out of the way, but hoping the defensive double ups with Citeh and Chelski more than compensate.

If it goes right, that team could hit 70 + points in the first week, so could afford the hit...

      Vorm

      Rangel -- Chico -- Williams -- Taylor
