Having already run the rule over the Goalkeepers, and Defenders for the season ahead, the third part in our series of Members articles sees us analyse the midfielders. With the aid of our Projections we’ve analysed the average points expected per player over the course of the upcoming campaign and, applying this to the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) player price list, have listed the top ten in terms of expected value per Fantasy pound for the season ahead…
Kagawa class today...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=QE_3Tm9sym8#!Open ControlsDefinitely a Modric type player
Open ControlsHis positioning seems very very good!
Open Controls
What players do you consider as a must for the start of the season in your team?
Open ControlsIf one is going for the big bang with Fulham, why not Riise instead of Hangeland?
Open ControlsI looked at him, far better prospect in my opinion. Hughes for me though
Open ControlsHow's your team Doos? I want players like Riise but they are luxuries that the budget can't really stretch to.
Open ControlsVery expensive, in all of the right areas!!! 🙂
Open ControlsI am almost certain that Ridgewell will replace Jones ...
GW1:
Federici
Koscielny, Riise, Taylor R
Lampard(c), Yaya Toure, Kagawa, Song
Adebayor, Torres(vc), Pogrebnyak
Subs: Friedel; Dyer, Jones, RangelOpen Controlsi still waiting for adebayor ðŸ™
Open ControlsMe too. ðŸ™
Open ControlsMe three, he's in my team at the moment as well 🙂 I love your team, i'm not sure Kagawa is sufficient United cover though but we will see 🙂
Open Controls
Because he's also the same price as Rafael and Kaboul. I'd feel sick owning a Fulham defender for that price personally 🙠Hangeland is slowly eating away at me at 5.0 but I keep reminding myself of that attack potential from 2 seasons ago
Open ControlsThat is a poor argument. Honestly. 🙂
Open Controls
Anyone notice FPL now has different shades for different likelihoods of playing? Light yellow for 75% likely and darker orange for 25% likely. Was it this way last year?
Open ControlsSo, if you guys could choose any Olympic sport to excel at, which would it be?
I'm gonna go for Heptathlon.Open Controls400 metres. No question.
Open ControlsSame, although 800m is possibly the best event for my physic
Open ControlsI was the fastest at that, at school. Couldn't win the 400. Psychological damage. 🙂
Open ControlsI only ever did the 1600m and cross country, generally as a substitute entrant as well. Cross country in someone elses shows is painful.
(This isnt quite true i once did the javelin, but there were extenuating circumstances for that)Open Controlsthat last part sounds ominous and saucy ...
Open ControlsEr depends what your into.
The Rugby first did their annual naked run a few days before chanting the school name and were subsequently suspended for a week. Slightly stupid considering this week contained sports day.Open Controls
Handball
Open Controlshaha, I could waltz onto the GB team. They had open trials 3 months ago for the olympic team. Ridiculous.
Open Controlshandball is a great sport and i am suprised that GB dont play it
i can say same for WaterpoloOpen ControlsI rly dont see what is good about handball.
3 steps, bounce, 3 steps, shoot, goal. Goalkeeper has absolutely no chance.Open Controlswell you might dont like it but i've been train handball when i was younger and i follow CRO team since olympic gold in atalanta 96
i rate handbal as the best sport after football
handball is massive sport spain,germany,france,denmark
our women team has beat GB 37:14 today 😀Open Controls
Dressage ... for all the rich GILFs.
Open ControlsYou realise the Heptathlon is for women only? Might as well go the whole hog and say synchronised swimming.
Open ControlsFor money, Tennis... otherwise gymnastics. Those guys are absolute beasts
Open ControlsAre you female?
Open ControlsNo.. it was a joke.. Nvm.

BILLYTHEFISH, re:last comment.
Hangelands fixtures;
Norwich, West Brom, West Ham, Southampton, Wigan? Sounds like a pretty good run to me…
The last 3 are away from home & im just not convinced FUL will keep cleanies.Open ControlsDr Heckle, i'd like to commend you your comment on the other page. Nomanative determinism indeed. I completely agree with this. If my surname was "Dash" i may be competing with Bolt right now 😉
Open ControlsSure wish they didn't shorten my family's name from 'Wankowitz' at Ellis Island two generations back ...
Open Controls*Nominative
Open ControlsI repeat, drunk 😉
Open Controls
I knew this Geordie girl who was telling me her dentist was called Dentith. I disbelieved her so much she phoned up her mother on speakerphone to confirm it.
Open ControlsDid he have a lisp? 😉
Open Controls😆

People are always trying to find purpose and to justify our pointless existence. A lot of people turn to religion for this, but people with suggestive surnames like this subconsciously get drawn to a certain path, and put 100% into getting there. It makes you think, with enough determination, we can achieve anything we want. That is encouraging 😀
Open ControlsNihilistically Encouraging 🙂
'Our pointless existence'? That's a bit dark. Existence isn't pointless ... 'Pool playing for the title is pointless. Existence is for existence's sake. A finger in the eye of random oblivion, if you will.Open Controls
I'm pretty happy with my team for GW1. I'm thinking of using my WC early on this year depending on how things pan out.
GK: De Gea (Jussi)
DEF: Cole Lescott Koscielny (Cuellar) (Fonte)
MID: (Michu) Pienaar Lamps Bale Guthrie
FOR: Pog Torres Aguero
Tevez, Rooney, Hazard, Dawson/Kaboul, Ba and Kagawa are all on my mind at the minute..Open ControlsOh yeah and I forgot to mention Lamps (C) and Aguero (VC)
Open Controls
well done to andy murray, hmm another Scot wins a medal for England, oops i mean Britain, seems to me Britain, oops i mean England, are benefitting from this 'nations uniting' for the Olympics thing!
Open ControlsWeren't they always united apart from the football?
Open Controlsnot sure, we,the english, love to label a welsh, scottish or northern irish athlete thats doing well on a world stage as 'British' cos they know that Britain and England are misperceived as the same thing across the world. We're constantly at it lol.
Eddie Irvine for example always had the tricolour of the Republic raised when he won a race, but the english media constantly referred to him as British, which was prob a bit disrespectful. I find it very funny thats all!Open ControlsIf you were English you would know that most of the medals won by GB have been won by Englishmen... Idiot. It's the Olympics, they are all GB and NI. Enjoy or sod off abroad
Open Controls
How quaint, you want him to be Scottish again now that he has won something of note...
Open Controls
What a great panel for the athletics... Denise Lewis, Michael Johnson and Colin Jackson...
Hanson, Shearer and friends could learn so much...Open ControlsWhat way am i looking??
de Gea - Federici
Ivanovic - Cole - Demel - Fonte - Cuellar
Bale - Kagawa - Pienaar/N'Zog - Noble - Maloney
Aguero - Petric/Graham - Torres
2mil in bank for Torres -> Rooney
also Lescott pined in for Cole/IvanOpen ControlsI'd wait on Kagawa if I were you, i know he's great, but I want to see how exactly SAF plans to use him for the first 2 GWs and then I'll decide
Looks great otherwise. Like it.Open Controlsyea no what you mean, looks the real deal all the same, will make a few changes but think im getting there, you think DDG is safe?
Open Controls
A couple of questions!
- Start the season with
A) Lamps + Bale and then do Lamps to Valencia/Kagawa after GW 2 depending on form
B) Lamps + Valencia and then do Lamps to Bale after GW 1?
- McClean or Larsson?
This is a little tricky to be honest. Larsson has Indirect, Direct FKs and penalties and is almost as decent a player as McClean, but the scouts project McClean to do a shade better.Open Controlsi really dont no who to put in my 6.5mil slot, have Pienaar at the min but they are slow starters as we know, would prob say Larsson over mcclean even tho McClean served me well lastyear, also prob start with A)
Open Controls
evening - a few of quickies: (1 word answers is fine)
1) most likely formation for united?
2) chance of valencia playing RB at stages?
3) bent, jelavic, and 9.5 on 2 defenders
or aguero, petric and 9.0 on 2 defenders?Open ControlsIm pretty sure they will play 4-4-2 and 4-4-1-1
Which really makes Kagawa a gamble if he plays too deep in 4-4-2,Open Controls
What is the situation with spurs cb's? Is Dawson likely to start
Open ControlsAnother shocking decision in the boxing.
Open ControlsGave it to the wrong guy, again. Referee should have punished the eventual winner for holding, just didn't bother.
Open Controls
With Rooney playing a deep lying CF role and Welbeck/Hernandez up top, how does Kagawa fit into a ManU offense with Rooney? From last year's games it was always 442 when Rooney was out and 441 with him. Is Kagawa just a sub for Rooney or will ManU play with just 1 CM/CDM, to accomidate for 2 CF/CAM players?
confused is allOpen ControlsLots seem to think Fergie will switch to 4411 with Kagawa behind Rooney.
Not convinced yet myself, can see 442 in a reasonable proportion of games, especially at home. Mostly because I can't see Welbeck and Hernandez not getting any PL starts. Can see 4411 more in away games/in Europe/against top sides.Open ControlsSAF prolly has 6 other options rolling around his brain.
Roo is the only MU attacking option nailed on.
Any other attacking pics for MU is a crapshootOpen ControlsAgree, almost.. actually think Valencia will be pretty much nailed on and will continue to deliver lots of assists. Fergie loves Valencia, cant really see they playing better with Nani/Young at RW, tho they will surely play a few games on RW
Open Controls
i was about to get Jelavic,Nani, siggy, silva in my team but i can't log in for some reason
must get rid of generic team!Open Controls'Generic'
Arrggghhh. Can we stop using nonsensical terms? No? All right then.
*opens window, jumps out*Open Controls
i cant figure out whether to go pienaar or not. these everton fixtures are a conundrum. They appear overall tempting for the first 13 gws, as long a stretch as one can basically ask for. but upon closer inspection, its just doesnt seem that exciting.
gws 1-10 only 4 at Goodison, one is UTD week 1 when those who decide to start the season with him will probably try to bench for noble or something like that.
so really thats 3 home games in 10 gws if you dont plan to use him. of those 3 remaining at home, one is against newcastle, another, liverpool. thats hardly salivating either.
other budget options for gws 1-10
AVL have home games against EVE, SWA, WBA, NOR
FUL have home games agaisnt NOR, WBA, AVL, EVE
WHM have home games against AVL, FUL, SUN, SOT
WIG have home games against STK, FUL, EVE, WHM
even WBA offer home games against EVE, REA, QPR, SOT in that time frame.
add into the mix the annual tradition of everton starting slow and i think ive talked myself out of pienaar.Open ControlsFulhams and Brom's look the most tempting!
But I fail to see any decent consistent midprice appeal from those two teams sadly. Petric will hog up all the points for Fulham. Midfield seems a bit barren to me albeit Dempsey.Open ControlsLikewise - Streaks of blue across their opening phase of fixtures but scrutinise them and they dont appeal as much. Notoriously slow starters in recent seasons they've also lost talisman Cahill and defences will be more wary of Jelavic's threat.
Open Controls
This didn't take long... oh dear Paddy Power 😀
http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/548911_10151079819484914_1975152070_n.jpgOpen ControlsPP do love to push a joke 😉 I get more amused now by the odd chelsea fan getting annoyed by it.
Open ControlsIt is harsh, wasn't he told to go up and celebrate with his team? He is the captain after all! Then i remember his large salary... and all my sympathy for him dies 🙂
Open Controls
I have a suspicion that by the time the season starts, everyone here will have the same exact team. 🙂
Open ControlsOnly if we all agreed.
Open ControlsI have Szczesny as keeper. Other than that I can see very similar midfield and forward combinations repeated in almost all RMTs. That's it! I'm going with Podolski/Suarez/Welbeck!
Open ControlsTrue, but not everyone RMTs, mostly the newbs.
Open Controls
Draft #3
If you can get past the avatar, could you rate this team, tried to go with teams with the best fixtures for the first 10 GW 🙂
Hart/Cerny
Rangel/Hangeland/Dawson/Olsson/Cuellar
Hazard/Yaya/Michu/Pienaar/Kacaniklic
Torres/Aguero/Petric
2m to trf Torres to Rooney and switch Hzard to Bale after DGW
Any thoughts/improvements ?Open ControlsIf that were Kim Kardashian, I wouldn't bother RMTing. 😉
You can get better value off the City defence in Lescott (Get Hart out!)
Dawson is not a sure started, neither is Kacaniklic.
Mediocre team. May I suggest a dowgrade of Yaya Toure and Hart so you can up your defence a little bit.Open ControlsFind Man C defence too much a nightmare to predict hence Hart but the others are solid attacking 5m defenders rather than some who are opting for 4m promoted teams but admit it lacks a big hitter but who ? Chelsea have looked shite in defence preseason, man c too difficult, arsenal weak, man u expensive, so I have Spurs, Fulham, Swans, Sunderland, WBA
Open Controls
10/10 Perfect.
..Ah, the FPL team... I think you need at least one expensive defender really, just for reliability and ease of freeing up funds /switching. Transfers are sensible although generally I'm against planning a hit so early.Open Controls
IOC should bring in a Fantasy game in the next Olympics with the top 3 getting medals
🙂Open ControlsThere is a fantasy game available, not run by the IOC though!
http://www.deloittegames.com/Open Controls
Is there a 4 mil nailed on Reading defender?
Open ControlsHave him atm, but not sure how nailed on he is.
Open Controls
All their defs will be crucified in the prem...
Open Controls
What do ye think guys?
Ddg, Federici
Ivanovic, Williams, Cuellar, Demel, Hughes
Lamps, Kagawa, McClean, Taarabt, Maloney
Rooney, Aguero, Petric
.5 in the bank for Lamps > Bale gw 2
ThanksOpen ControlsIf you're getting Cuellar, fancy rotating him with Coloccini maybe?
Can't see much wrong with it. I love Petric, and I want to slot him in but I've gone Graham instead to get my self Swansea cover, which you dont have ATM. Food for thought I hope.Open ControlsVery decent indeed.
Accepting a few uncertainties... 9/10!Open Controls10/15
Open ControlsIf we're to engage in this unproductive numerical rating, let's at least be logical. 😀
Open Controls
I like it. I would prefer Hazard to Lampard though.
Open Controls
Are Sunderland any closer to signing a new striker? McClean and Larsson won't be much use if there's no one to convert their crosses...
Open Controlsbig man, ex ipswich, lone striker, SIR Connor Wickam, himself
Open Controls
Anyone think Diaby will return for much game time?
Open ControlsToo much competition i'm afraid, especially with Cazorla joining and Ramsey's improvement. Arteta is likely to play next to Song every match. And when Wiltshire returns Diaby has no chance.
Open ControlsI think he will start ,until Wilshire returns
Song diaby behind a santi / Ramsey
*diaby will probably be injured in 1st game thoughOpen Controls
Just back from the man city match, did i miss anything. D man city team that started was pretty good
Open ControlsYeah Bolt won the 100m
Open Controls
a) Tevez Kagawa vs. b) Aguero Taarabt
c) DDG Cuellar vs. d) Friedel Hangeland
Defense is currently
Federici ___
Cashley Lescott Clyne Demel _____Open ControlsMay have missed before, but from the BBC -
'Ashley Cole wants to be paid £200,000 a week at Chelsea, with Real Madrid and Paris St Germain monitoring the 31-year-old England defender's situation.'
I'd say he's selling himself short - nearly £1m a month (approx)? That's only about £11m a year (including holidays.Open Controls
