Having added statistical maps to our Match Dashboard a week or so ago, we’ve now brought these new aids into the Player Profiles and, more importantly perhaps, the Stats Comparison Tool.

Our Members can now compare two players head-to-head and get both a statistical view and a graphical view of a players performance. Our new maps allow you to plot stats such as Shots, Chances Created, Crosses, Dribbles, Passes and an array of defensive stats. These can, of course, be filtered by a range of Gameweeks or matches and by home and away fixtures.

The next step is to add a heatmap that will plot a player’s touches on the pitch. We’ll be bringing that to you very soon.

The movie below offers a walkthrough of these new features, running a comparison between Sunderland’s Stephane Sessegnon and James McClean’s over their last six matches.

Memberships are still available for £12.50 up until the first weekend of the season. Click here for details on how to register or upgrade your account and for all our preview movies so far.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Well hello.... Currently have DDG, Fed, Cole, Hughes & Clyne at the back, have 9.0 to spend on two rotaters, are any of these acceptable or do I need to invest more in defence?

    a) Cuellar & Demel + 0.5
    b) Fabio & Figueroa/Alcaraz
    c) Saylor & Tierney

You would have a solid Saylor + Cuellar rotation if you eke out £0.5m from somewhere.

Cole > Lescott in GW3 is the plan, just waiting to see what happens with Agger. Thinking I might do Nasri > Yaya to scrimp an extra 0.5 and get Cuellar & Saylor, smart move?

A consideration for sure. We'll have a Scout Report published tomorrow with more on this.

Even more tempting in the Sky game.

Try again... and yes I do think he could be worth a punt as a 4th or 5th mid. Good value for a Liverpool mid but he isn't your typical all action box to box midfielder.

Getting concerned on Swansea. If they lose Sinclair too, I'm wondering if they've got enough left. Laudrup is going to have to gel things very quickly.

Laudrup is ripping the swans apart, they will be a different proposition this year.

Rumours in Wales is Williams off to Newcastle, and united interested in Neil Taylor.

Laudrup has said he has no qualms in selling anyone at a price.

                Colo for certain.

For swans, I posted earlier what Laudrup is doing worries me. Allen is gone and new mf forming at the Liberty.

Caulker back to spurs. Plus strong rumours are Williams to Newcastle, and united shown interest in Taylor. But...

If all stays the same at Swansea I would go Rangel, but I cant see them being so tight and hog possession so much under Laudrup so I am avoiding them defensively from the off to see what happens.

Michu is my only jack, but I've toyed with Rangel.

Maybe a CB's contributions are more favoured by the bonus system.

Williams scored 10x as many bonus points as Rangel last season.

Re-post as it kinda got lost at the end of a page last time 🙂

More then any year I can recall, we have a large selection of mid priced forwards (8.0-9.5 Bracket) who look to be reasonably priced and offer the greatest range of differentiation and upside of all classifications.

We often shun them in favor of the safety of the tried and tested, two big hitters (Rooney, Aguero, RVP, Torres) and a budget forward (5.0-6.5) Logically, you will most likely require two big mids, and thus the mid priced forward is somewhat forgotten. After all, they come at the price of a big midfielder hitter, but lack the glamour of the "big hitter" tittle.

From a typical big hitter midfielder, your Valencia's, Silva, Bale, VDV you can expect to average around 6 points per 90 minutes played over the course of a season. Thus they offer a fairly reliable source of points per million spent. Only Sigurdsson and Ben Arfa out of the budget midfielders managed to hit the 6 point average. Most budget midfielders shining for purple periods and then having long spells of recline.

So how did the 9.5 priced forwards fare? Not too well last year, half of them had poor seasons, averaging less then 5 points per 90 minutes played. There were notable exceptions however, Dzeko averaged a whopping 8 points per 90 and P.Cisse, 9 points. In comparison, Van Persie, Rooney and Aguero were around the 7 point per 90 range.

That is not to say the big forwards are bad value, they played more minutes and offer a reliable captaincy choice. But they aren't as big hitting as some may think, after all they cost around 12 million for those returns and you can't really afford to hold an asset if they go through a poor period, such as Rooney and Aguero had at times last season.

So the question is I suppose, is two big hitters optimal this year when we have mid priced forwards such as Tevez, Suerez, P.Cisse, Bent and Jelavic who look likely to hit 170-190+ points? I'm not so sure, with the uncertainty floating around some of the big hitters at the moment (Rooney-Form, RVP-Location, Aguero-Rotation, Torres-Torres)

The Fantasy football Scout crowd will tell you that they are must own's, and at some points one of the above will be no doubt, but is Aguero really worth 2.5 more then Tevez, will RVP be worth 3.5 more then Suerez, P.Cisse...

As an aside, Captaincy really is a key issue in all this, the key question is I suppose, would you feel comfortable captaining a Tevez, Jelavic, Suerez or one of your midfielders (Bale, Mata, Valencia etc)? Just some food for thought, not really trying to persuade anyone in one direction or another.

Ps. Credit to Chris Glover @ http://premierleaguefantasy.blogspot.ie/ for some of the above stats, inspiration and general analysis he does, top FPL blog.

I have been bigging up Bent for a while and do expect him to do well. I plan in Aguero and Rooney all season at this point, but form may change plans, and Bent is at the top of my watchlist should I decide to ditch either of them

True, but the best value players in terms of points per million are always defenders - you don't see many people investing loads in their defence.

Was just considering this today as the Rooney, Augero, Petric / Graham template is 29.5m. But you can have Tevez, Torres & Suarez for 1m less.

Also if Tottenham don't buy another forward isn't Defoe a bit of a bargain at 7.5?
