[sbu_large_image] The Stock Check

Marouanne Fellaini towers above the United defence to earn three points for Everton as Sir Alex Ferguson’s side are shackled, with Robin Van Persie reduced to a cameo role. Here’s the stock check following the Goodison clash…

On The Up

Marouanne Fellaini
Pushed up in support of Nikaca Jelavic, the big Belgian was imperious and led the line with strength and composure. It’s not clear if David Moyes will persist with Fellaini in the role, with Steven Naismith and new signing Kevin Mirallas, the Everton boss clearly has options. However, this promises to be a big season for Fellaini and at 6.5 in the FPL and 4.7 in the Sky Sports Game, Fantasy managers may well be rethinking Steven Pienaar as the protagonist in Everton’s midfield ranks.

The Everton Defence
Moyes’ rearguard was defiant throughout and magnificent to a man. Leighton Baines delivered his first clean sheet of the season – he remains the luxury item in the Toffees back four but, on this form, a strong haul of clean sheets over the season could be in the offing to help justify the outlay.

David De Gea
While United struggled in attacking terms, De Gea stood firm against a first half blue tide, pulling off notable saves to keep the score deadlocked at the interval. With Anders Lindegaard breathing down his neck, the Spaniard has to produce. Tonight he was arguably United’s most impressive performer – he had to be.

Going Down

Wayne Rooney
Rooney was the danger man for United but Sir Alex Ferguson’s attacking players were far from potent. While they dominated possession and passed the ball well, they lacked a cutting edge and a direct threat. Rooney’s owners will go into the weekend clash with Fulham concerned that Robin Van Persie will be called upon to provide that, while Rooney retreats deep.

United’s Widemen
Ferguson appeared to allow his attacking players fluidity with Shinji Kawaga and Rooney interchanging up front or drifting deep to pick up the ball. The uncertainty surrounding Kawaga’s role and the likelihood of a Rooney/Van Persie pairing will cause concern. It appears we could see Nani, Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young, Danny Welbeck and Kawaga competing for two starts in wide areas throughout the season.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Done it: Aguero to Tevez.

Even Aguero is only out a couple weeks, he will drop at least 0.2 and Tevez will rise by the same amount.

No other pressing transfer other than getting in Michu and already have Graham (although I had Petric until you bell-ends told me that was soooo stupid and I needed Swans cover so get in Graham - thanks for that). Fine to even go Mata to Michu next week.

I didn't think they were that bad, he linked up well with Rooney, at times seemed aa little hurried in his passing.. Nani didnt provide him much outlet but he looked promising.

I have him, wasn't expecting much tonight.. Goodison is a tough enough place to go when Everton play well.

Rotation is a problem, but I thought Nani was awful so he should be pretty soon out of the equation. Kags did well, and I would expect him to be pulling the strigs v Fulham.

Yeah, I thought United were alright. Everton were very good though. Pienaar and Fellani were brilliant. Jelavic, not so much.

I thought Kagawa was a bright spark. Roo was a little out of sorts for me and RVP didn't really fit in. The wings were confusing and I think the shape was all wrong as well.

The last 20 mins Everton had 10-men behind the ball and just managed to hold on until incredible pressure. Cleverley should have score after a clever ball from who else? Kagawa.

Will see how SAF lines up next week, but feeling like Mata for Kagawa for GW3 for me.

A lot of United's best chances came from Kagawa's passing. He seemed to be playing it safe tonight, maybe too safe. Maybe with more time playing in the team he'll turn and run at the defence more and go for a few more shots as well as the through balls he showed tonight. His movement for me was the most impressive thing though as he didn't stop moving and he was always trying to move into space and pull away defenders for other players. It's a shame United were off with their shooting tonight as Kagawa could easily have had a hattrick of assists.

I did Ramires to Michu last night and I'm doing Aguero to Defoe tonight.
Loads of cash to do Torres to RVP for GW3.
Defoe is nailed on for WBA, NOR, rdg...even if they sign Adebayor he won't be fit, he's way short on match fitness.
I have the money to get Rooney but I thought he looked out of sorts tonight and I have Valencia anyway, who will undoubtedly return to the wing.

My 31 points are driving me crazy and I don't care if I'm called a kneejerker.

"And, by the way, did you know that I captained Berbatov the game he scored 5 goals? Yup - that was me. I live life on the edge, by my own rules ... that's how I roll.

Care to get naked whilst I tell about my three-team rotation?"

        Weird... comment cut off.

Anyway, it's a league a few people here have joined with Team IDs under 100. Hoping to get as many of the 100 as possible before the end of the season.

And FWIW I'm sticking with Podolski for now (and even considering doubling up with Cazorla *gulp*).

Long term I won't have Podolski but short-term I'm convinced enough that Cazorla is a good threat, and there's an assist and a finish to every goal so Podolski should suffice until my transfer possibilities clear up after this Chelsea missed GW.

Yes if you're chasing team value as a lot of casuals will still be in the game.
No if your team is looking good.

Hmmm. Aguero > Defoe, Mata > Cazorla, Graham > RVP over the next few weeks. That'll work. Maybe.

How on earth did Fellaini not get 3 bonus points? He was brilliant, better than Baines by a long way.

Totally agree. This PPI system will just drive us crazy again this year. Still prefer it to the old BP system though. That drove us even crazier!

Yeah the system is totally flawed. I don't even have Fellaini and I'm still feeling the injustice of the decision.

I'd say it could be anything from 2-8 weeks ... until a 'real' scan is done and, as you say, quotes from Mancini, it's a toss-up.

Tranferring and/or spending points seems a bit hasty at this stage, imo (as others have done/are doing).

Even when Aguero does come back as long as Tevez will play it is worth the savings to make the switch. Jumped on that bandwagon last night.
