Marouane Fellaini torments United from start to finish and hands Everton the three points after heading home from a corner. The Toffees continue the strong home form displayed at the end of last season, while Unitedโ€™s two new boys produce contrasting performances as Sir Alex Fergusonโ€™s side get off to a losing start:

Marouane Fellaini
Tucking in behind Nikica Jelavic in David Moyesโ€™ trusted 4-5-1 formation, the Belgianโ€™s aerial ability proved the undoing of United time and again. With Everton targeting the visitors full-backs with long, diagonal balls, Fellaini continually put Sir Alex Fergusonโ€™s side under pressure and grabbed the only goal of the game as Everton pulled off the first shock of the season. As to whether he will continue to play as far more is perhaps debatable โ€“ Kevin Mirallas wasnโ€™t registered in time for the game and is also versatile enough to play fill the position but at 6.5 in FPL and 6.1 in the Sky Sports game, Fellaini is sure to see plenty investment before the weekendโ€™s trip to Villa.

Everton Defence
Perhaps last nightโ€™s result wasnโ€™t quite as shocking as the media suggest. Everton closed out last season with six clean sheets in their last eight at Goodison and their defensive resilience was at the fore once again last night with an intelligent, well-drilled display ensuring they kicked off the season with a victory. Tony Hibbert and Sylvain Distin come in at 5.5 in FPL and if the Toffees maintain their superb form at the back in front of their supporters, the duo look decent value. With only two home matches in the next seven Gameweeks, though, many will overlook Moyesโ€™ defenders, bearing in mind that Swansea and Spurs play at home five times over the same period.

David De Gea
The Spaniard produced a strong performance between the sticks to surely cement his place as Unitedโ€™s number one. Priced at 6.0 in FPL, De Gea certainly looks firmly in the driving seat ahead of Anders Lindegaard, with his 14.2% ownership on the rise on the back of last nightโ€™s heroics.

Shinji Kagawa
Handed the role in โ€œthe holeโ€ behind Wayne Rooney with Danny Welbeck and Nani on the flanks, the summer signing looked a class apart but โ€“ in a similar story to that of Santi Cazorla on Saturday โ€“ failed to produce the points on his debut. What was noticeable is that Kagawa was handed 90 minutes โ€“ perhaps a sign of his managerโ€™s faith, with Welbeck, Nani and Tom Cleverley the men to make way when Ferguson sent on the subs. At 8.5, heโ€™s the lowest priced of United attacking midfielders and, with Antonio Valencia featuring at right-back last night, Kagawa looks a promising Fantasy prospect with (FUL, sot, WIG) to follow despite last night’s frustrating blank.

Robin Van Persie
Handed a substitute role midway through the second-half after Ferguson chose to field Wayne Rooney as a lone striker, the Dutchman had an anonymous debut. The Fantasy conundrum between the pair was, if anything, exacerbated by last nightโ€™s viewing โ€“ United maintained the 4-2-3-1 formation upon Van Persieโ€™s arrival, with the two forwards both taking it in turns to drop deeper and drift out wide as the visitors chased the game. Intriguingly, Van Persie was immediately handed corners from the right hand side – Nani retained the left side, though Rooney took over after the Portuguese man was withdrawn. With the above-mentioned three games to follow, many will still be ready to gamble ahead of the weekend โ€“ letโ€™s hope Fergusonโ€™s Friday morning press conference is a little more revealing than usual. Post-match, the United boss was a little critical of his other players, suggesting he expects better service for the Dutchman in order for United to prosper:

We were a wee bit disappointing in terms of finishing off the approach play we had. We played around him (Van Persie) too much, we didn’t show enough penetration. With Robin in your team you know you want to use his ability against centre-backs in situations he is very good at – but we didn’t use him enough.

Not sure about either of those. Mata will still need to rest so there are safer options elsewhere and I'm not convinced about the long term prospects of Lampard with Hazard looking most likely to soak up all the points.

Alright lads, bit knacked after the weekend, got 55 points (5 players left to play on Wed), which was ok, but have a number of players that could do with switching out for the next gw:
    ————-Federici————-
    Williams–Ivanovic–Lescott
    Dyer–Mata—-Bale–McClean
    –Torres—Aguero–Pogreb–

    Bench: A. Ferdinand, Hangeland, Noble

Injury to Aguero means he is an almost cert for being swapped out. Also feeling like Reading could get a hammering off Sunderland at the weekend, and certainly can’t see Pogrebnyak scoring so possibly moot keeping him there. Torres didn’t look very sharp either, and Hazard looking to be a better bet than Mata from what I saw on Sunday.

Really liking the look of Petric and Tevez from the weekend, would have had Petric in if it wasn’t for the DGW. Recommendations? Thinking I will just wait till the definite news on Aguero and swap him for Tevez if he’s injured but can’t help but think I could be dropping points by not making changes.

Therein lies the problem. With the blank gameweek coming up I've got to shift at least 2 of the 5 from the DGW this week, and Aguero's injury means I need to get rid of at least one more.

Did u watch the chelsea game?

Torres looked very sharp when chelsea got the ball into him! If u did watch u will have noticed that even though they faced wigan, RDM was still very cautious and a lot of chelsea's posession was accros the defence/deep midfielders. Which they used early on 2 draw wigan in and counter attack them. After being 2-0 up they looked pretty content with just keeping the ball and keeping it 2-0 very rarely venturing foward. Whilst this was going on Torres' movement was constant and subsequently when they found him on a rare venture foward he was very unlucky 2 have an effort cleared off the line by Ramis!

My point is i dont think chelsea will be playing counter attacking football at Stamford Bridge against Reading on wednesday?

totally agree^! Pundits were struggling 2 find there way out his ringer.

On another day against a half decent defender( Wow, what a beast Ivan Ramis had!) he would have been bought down when he turned for the 1st goal. For the 2nd IMO it was poor play by Hazard as he ran down a blind ally only for that donkey Ramis to dive in and bring him down, all he had 2 do was stand him up and he probably would have ran it out of play!

So I personally think that i need 2 see a lot more before i move him into my side as like the guys say apart from 12minutes he was pretty non existant! his passing on the whole was sloppy, he tried 2 beat mcarther with a stepover and got very lucky 2 get round him only 2 give the ball away after attempting a 5 yard pass! Jurys out im affraid!

Think your front line needs a big hitter - have Tevez, one from Graham / Petric (Petric for me) and then RVP / Rooney (RVP for me) - that latter can always be changed to anyone depending on form / fixtures later on (e.g. Aguero)

    Transfer thoughts are:
    Joe Allen to Dyer
    Or
    Hoilett to Michu

Yeah I got suckered in for some reason. Allen could be a good prospect as the season goes, so I was thinking long term with that one! But yeah, it may take him a while to settle in. Think Dyer to Allen is a more logical move

Does anyone know if there's an easy way to view all players' scores from a GW? I know you can go to 'Transfers' and view 'Round score', but then everyon'es on different pages. I was hoping there'd be something like the player list (http://fantasy.premierleague.com/player-list/) but for an individual GW.

    Anyone any ideas?

In the fixture list of the Points tab you can expand each game to reveal goals, assists, cards and bonus points for that game. Not exactly what you're looking for but vaguely useful.

I think the generic team on this site had the following strikers:

    Aguero, Torres, Graham/Pog

Now everyone is transferring them out to get the players that scored last week!!

    What a load of crap.

    You all know nowt!!

    *except for me

Out of those I only have Torres but its a bit obvious to transfer out Aguero and Torres because one is injured and the other was only a double gmwk hopeful.

    Hey guys, few observations.

Great shouts forum on the Petric and Michu summer signings, I hope we all benefitted.

So what are people thinking about Betrands at Chelsea, at 4.5mil is he a potential steal for a 5th defender, even if he has limited playing times......

Also surely now Graham is the man to have with Swans run of fixtures and Sinclair probable move.....
