The flag stayed down to allow Fernando Torres to deliver on a night that saw Hazard sparkle again. Brave Reading went home with nothing but put up a fight as their budget options confirmed their potential. Let’s check the stock…

On the Up

Eden Hazard
Five assists marks a remarkable start to Hazard’s Fantasy season and already confirms him as a major Fantasy asset. He’s mesmerising skill and pace, combined with the freedom to join the attack from all areas, has thrust Hazard to the top of our midfield shopping list – once the Gameweek 3 blank has passed of course.

Frank Lampard
Lampard may well rely on spot-kicks for returns but with Hazard in the side, he looks set to get plenty of them. The Belgian’s tricky feet are drawing fouls, seemingly handing Chelsea deadballs and penalties aplenty.

Fernando Torres
Torres left it late but he eventually delivered on the captaincy with a goal that just about justified the faith shown in him. We will still look to Hazard and wonder what might have been, while Robin Van Persie still looks ridiculously tempting for those with the funds to wave goodbye to El Nino for the weekend. It’s still a big decision for those with cracks elsewhere and with bandwagons rolling.

Pavel Pogrebnyak
The Russian delivered on his budget promise with a superb glancing header to bring Reading on terms. Pogrebnyak looks destined to lead the line home and away for the Royals and, as we’ve stressed all through the pre-season, offers a superb third striker option for those looking to reserve funds.

Danny Guthrie
Talking of budget options, Reading look to have a mix of them. The widemen Jobi McAnuff and Gareth McClearly put in strong displays again but it will be Guthrie, playing up in support of the lone striker and at just 4.5 in the Fantasy Premier League game, that will rouse interest.

Going Down

Petr Cech
A calamitous error for Reading’s second goal drew visible frustration from manager Roberto Di Matteo and will give cause concern for those holding Chelsea defenders. We’ve seen his confidence waver in previous seasons. Worrying.

Juan Mata
While Hazard, Lampard and Torres delivered returns, Mata was the odd one out, offering two blanks over the double Gameweek. We know that Di Matteo is planning a rest for the playmaker, while it’s doubtful that this will start early against Newcastle, it’s not out of the question given the jaded performances so far.

Adam Le Fondre
Brian McDermot started tonight’s game in a 4-5-1, pushing Guthrie up to support Pogrebnyak. Le Fondre dropped to the bench then and will presumably be at risk when Reading are on the road.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Morning Optimus. I want to change 4 or 5 players and have considered w/cing but am loathe to use it yet. I think it might be better to take a couple of 8point hits at this stage of the season and save the w/c. Especially as you've now missed out on the price rises. And I only have 54 points this week.

I think you will be fine if you keep the WC mate. There are some nice fixtures for a few sides but alot of teams are just settling into the season and noone has really found any form yet. i think you could put the WC to better use further down the line.

Koscielney can play RB for sure, but there is no way I see the necessety to push Jenkins to the bench, they would be hurting on the offensive end with that move. And would not improve much defensively with Mertesacher still playing.

The Dutch newspaper (De Telegraaf) is saying the move is "as good as certain", but no German source has gone this far.

It's clear that Hamburger SV are going to great lengths to raise the money via a private sponsor for the transfer (which now looks as if it would cost €12 million) and VdV's wages, but the intentions of Spurs and van der Vaart himself aren't that obvious. He's said no to the move once already this summer.

I'm thinking about keeping Torres for the long run. He's the only striker in the top 3 team, has a CL, EC, FA cups under his belt this season, along with being the golden boot in the EC. He just scored the winning goal last night, so despite him still being far from the Torres we know, he does have a few reasons to regain his confidence I think. Just the matter of time, but until then, I'll just settle with a few odd goals he's bound to score because of the mentioned fact that he is the only Chelsea striker and comes quite cheap.

Or did I get this one wrong?

From what I've heard he was lucky to get that goal and was quiet all night. Isacki posted a very insightful analysis along the lines of the fact that Torres is the type of striker who doesn't make his own chances, he needs supply, and the Chelsea midfield aren't giving him that.

Oscar and Marin easing into the squad might change that dynamic but a £10.0m 'maybe' isn't a nice option for me. I'll be losing him after the Newcastle game.

I think for those with plans this week of Mata -> Michu, and Torres -> RVP would be better advised to make the 1st transfer this week and wait another week for RVP.

Apart from the obvious 4 point hit, surely we would want to be more confident about RVPs playing time/role etc after more than just a 20 minute cameo, which from what I hear was rather poor.

Also Torres home against New, with increased confidence (hopefully, after nicking one against RDG), is certainly not guaranteed to score 4 points less than RVP at home to Fulham who have looked tidy at the back.

Downgrade Mata this week and upgrade Torres to Rooney or RVP in GW 3 after assessing them both this weekend.

My 2 cents on the issue anyway...

What do you think is priority for this team?

    Fed (Fried)
    Hangeland Lescott Demel (Cuellar Clyne)
    Lampard Bale Fellaini NZogbia (Noble)
    Torres Tevez Bent

    1FT £2.0m in the bank.

Is it worth getting Lampard AND Hazard after GW3? If that was the case I would just bench Lamps for that week but cant afford to have Torres benched as well. Is Rooney still worth it or shall I downgrade Torres to upgrade NZogbia or someone?

Is it worth jumping on the Michu bandwagon? Or the Ivanovic one after the blank GW?

    Need your answers FFS community!

Think I'll probably W/C. Potential team

    Friedal Mignolet
    Jenkinson Kaboul Cuellar Clyne Demal
    Hazard Bale Carzola Michu Kagawa
    Graham RVP Pogrebnyak

    What do ye think?

Might be a bit light at the back and a bit reliant on RVP up front. Could always ship him out and bring in a couple 9.5 strikers if he doesn't find form.

I had a great first week (92 points) but I don't feel its set up well going forward. Have taken a 12 point hit so far as well. I normally hold onto my wildcard for anything unforeseen later on in the season but have felt this has been a bit of a waste in the past, I'd prefer to get my team right from the start and that any necessary hits if needs be along the way

Meh wasn't really bacon in the grand scheme of things... maybe like just some pork scratchings. Still looked dire for most of the game, left my team this morning.

Who want's to talk to me about PLayer Exchange?

    Anyone do well?

I noticed the top guys put all thier shares in just 1 players and that player happened to do well.

I spread mine over about 6 players and had 14 total (just 1 share in the other 8 guys)

Finished rank 1,075 which seems good but there's only 30k players!

    Tactics anyone?

      buy low; sell high.

nah - I spread it over about 15 players. I am not sure what the tactic is around trading.
