The first gameweek of the season concludes tonight at Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea look to take an early lead at the top of the Premier League with victory over Reading. Their commitments in next week’s Super Cup brought this fixture forward, and the Dugout Discussion opens in anticipation of delightful double-gameweek points.

The team news for tonight’s encounter is in, and the sides will line-up as follows…

Chelsea XI: Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Cole, Lampard, Ramires, Mikel, Mata, Hazard, Torres.

Reading XI: Federici, Gunter, Pearce, Leigertwood, Harte, Karacan, McAnuff, Guthrie, Gorkss, Pogrebnyak, McCleary.

Both teams make two changes from their opening day line-ups. For the hosts, Ramires has recovered from the illness that kept him out at Wigan, with Ryan Bertrand making way, and Gary Cahill replaces the injured David Luiz. Reading replace Hal Robson-Kanu and Adam Le Fondre with Jem Karacan and Garath McCleary.

    My impression of Chelsea based on now:

    Defence - abizmal
    Hazard - for the season
    Mata - bit sluggish
    Torres- is Torres

        I do agree though. Hazard looks more dangerous than Mata or Lampard.

        Still undecided on Torres though. He's has flashes of brilliance and could easily have had 2 goals already with some luck(if only people could pass him the ball, Ramires you turd).

    Ah bugger. Gambled on Torres in my big money auction / draft league. Stuck with him now for the season. I can easily see Cavani or Hulk come in before the transfer window closes and Torres to be warming the bench.

    On an previous article I posted a rant ridiculing the "Lamps is on pens" trite found everywhere before GW1. I remember asking: "Do you all really think that Chelsea gets a penalty per game?"

    Then this happens. Good God.

    Moral of the story is: Go generic. Stop trying to be original.
