We may have suffered inauspicious starts to the season but there’s no denying it, we just love Fantasy Football.

For all his grumpiness and bile, Granville’s enthusiasm spills over as we both dive into the hot topics of the week: Juan Mata’s decline, Eden Hazard’s rise, the Rooney vs Van Persie question, whether Granville is the dopey one.

All these issues and more are addressed in the next 38-minutes, along with the return of All Aboard, the weekend preview and the first decisions to be made with the ailing ScoutCast XI. It’s my turn to play Pat Rice to Granville’s Arsene Wenger this week and, to script, I prove to be more of a hindrance than a help.

Indulge in the lovefest via this link or, alternatively, get streaming using the handy player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I know this is very, very late but I tried to reply to your comment on my Fulham post hours ago (my phone wasn't having any of it)... but yes, Kaca and Frei will be in direct competition for the left wing spot and I would expect them to be rotated a fair bit. Or at least I'd expect the less favoured one to be subbed on a fair bit, the Rod could also be a contender for that position.

Thanks for bothering! Looks like yet another big 4.5m contender is out as an option then, following in the footsteps of Marveaux. Maybe Guthrie might be the best one after all...

No worries. When I pushed the Kaca bandwagon I did always say he would be dangerous for long term but I think he has a few GWs in him still (certainly if he keeps performing), But a lot depends on Dempsey still

Btw I saw you're planning on transferring in Rooney. Do you think he's a better option than RVP or do you not have the funds? I haven’t seen an awful lot of pre season but I saw the Everton game and Rooney did look overweight/poor. I know he might be on pens but Fulham didn’t give away a pen last season (I think we were the only prem team not too) and RVP will play higher up, no?

Because I've chosen Michu over Dyer (assist potential looks better plus seems shot crazy) I have to get Rooney now. I went for this as I think Rooney is the safer option in the short-term and I would be more miffed about missing out on Michu. A large part of why I've stuck with Rooney is pens, not just for this gameweek, and United do seem to get a huge number of them. I wouldn't be surprised if Fulham give one away under the sheer pressure from this new-look frontline despite that amazing record last year. Long-term, I think RVP could prosper, but am not convinced enough yet to throw an extra million at him

Fair do's. Will wait for Fergie's press conference before making a decision but as I have 4.5 in the bank I'll probably go RVP. I have Dyer (although I benched him, grrrr) so hope you're wrong there! Cheers Isacki

I really really really agonized over the Dyer+RVP vs Michu+Rooney decision, since Saturday in fact. Dyer could even be one of the bargains of the season, very few people in his price range are known as goalscorers. But in the end I figured I might get steadier points from Michu's creation. Since you have the money, you gotta go RVP!

this is why Graham's captain appeal is so great (hardly anyone will have him captain)

He was involved in 31% of Swansea's goals last year and is yet to find the net this season with 5 goals already scored. Therefore, the probability of him scoring the next goal (or two) for Swansea is very high.

Unfortunately football is not played with a calculator lol

Probability of him scoring the next goal (or two) for Swansea is not higher just because he hasn't been part of the first five. Probability of event remains same for each future game and players don't become "due" to score. If anything, it is possible that the probability is lower than you expect because there may have been some fundamental change in how they play, compared to last year, that was the reason why he wasn't on the scoring end of anything in first match.

Gambler's fallacy. Chasing losses because you feel you are due.

He got about 2500 minutes last season compared to Silva's 2800. 5 goals and 9 assists compared to Silva's 6 goals and 17 assists. He's already hit good form for the past two games, including the Community Shield and I expect him to go on at least for another 10 GWs. At the moment, Silva is not being himself but he'll get close to where he is at some point over the next 10 GWs but we'll have to monitor that and see what happens.

I'd keep Ivanovic...he's playing so high up the pitch and goes up for corners.

Lamps to Kagawa (or HBA) looks good then Torres to Tevez, Rooney/RVP, or Ade could be a solid transfer!

Torres didnt do that well tbh. Would get rid of him before any of the other 2. Lamps would be preferable over Ivanovic too. Ivan can be benched gw3 and then he has great chance of 2 clean sheets in gw4+5. Vertonghen is too risky imo - doesnt look first choice at the mo - get Baines in if you can afford and really want to get rid of Ivan.

Liking my front 7 but not great fixtures for my defenders this week, though I can't see there being too many clean sheets this week (bar NOR/QPR!!!).
3 from Hangeland, Hibbert, Lescott, McCartney, Simpson.
Think it's Lescott (The Pool looked a bit crap last week), Hibbert (same for Villa) and one of the others.
    Any suggestions?

Has to be Simpson for me. Swansea are at home and although West Ham look solid, will likely concede at least 1. Newcastle can keep a clean sheet against any of the big boys.

this whole 'unproven' thing is overemphasised IMO. plenty of 'proven' players will flop this season, and plenty of these 'unproven' players have won titles in other major leagues and are obviously class just from watching them for 10 mins. kagawa COULD get points galore this next few games methinks, i kinda wish i had him, but in the long-term the fixtures and rotation puts me off.

Well just took my first hit since two seasons ago! Fell asleep early last week before the deadline haha (live in the States), so didn't get to follow through with my planned last second moves for Dyer, Tevez, and Lamps...so I've got some catching up to do! Never really considered Michu so not going toooo bothered I missed out on that haul, but I'm all aboard now.

    DDG
    Cole Zab Clyne
    Bale Michu Maloney Noble
    Rooney (c) Torres Tevez
    Subs: Federici Britton Tierney Demel
with a handy 3.0 in the bank

Torres is out next week for Ade, then Maloney/Noble is out next for Kagawa or HBA

    Looking good?

        Ramires/Aguero to Michu/Tevez.

          Bale-Kag-Larsson-Michu

Looks good, I'd fancy a hit for either Rooney/RVP personally! I've gone with Rooney, but RVP looks to be playing in front of him. Would probably have gone for RVP if I had the transfer back to be honest. Either one gives you a really good captain option (even though Bale/Michu have nice fixtures as well).

The pertinent question is bale v lennon. Lennon by far the more dangerous gainst newcastle and he was worrying the go to man from the back. Espiecally bae with long sweeping diagonal balls. This is something that they have been working on in training according to espn commentator at the time. Surely not something he would just spurt out ( sorry, can not recall which Commentator )

it's more about gw3 really. need to know your subs. if you can field a decent team GW3 despite the benched chelsea/reading players then a hit probably isn't worthwhile, especially at such an early/unpredictable stage of the season when nobody you could bring in is really nailed on to score points.

          True.

Although there aren't too many high-priced mids around who look like performing well. Hazard is nailed on, and involved in pretty much everything Chelsea do going forward.

they have the worst fixtures out of any team in the league over gws 4-11, 4-12, 4-13 etc according to the ticker. which is good because i transferred him out before the first chelsea game to get dyer before his price rose :S

I know. It just goes to show people really don't bother looking beyond the previous weeks points and the next game ahead.

this is ironic given what i just posted 😛

although you guys are right about him looking outstanding... potentially enough so for fixtures not to matter too much.

Yes as for us serious folk we do give due consideration to fixtures.

probably should've done it before they rose 0.5 in total (combined). and i think tevez is just about to go up, so better do it quickly

Yeah, I was away for four days after Sunday. Aguero dropped 0.2 too so it hurts a bit more, but I think these two will be mainstays for at least 4 more weeks?

well aguero is said to be out for a month and his price is dropping daily, so yes. and michu has great fixtures and form, so i think it's a good move. rough though how you had to suffer price drop from your player, and price rise from the ones you want.

They are trades you needed to do at the start of the week. Better late then never though, do it

looks like 3-1 is a popular scoreline for this game

ya i held out on my rvp/rooney transfer for this gw. kind of nervous about not having one of them, but i think this game will show us a little more of what's to come. that being said, i did get kagawa for some utd coverage
