With many of the big clubs choosing to splash the cash this summer, there are plenty of highly-priced midfield recruits firmly under the Fantasy radar over the first few Gameweeks. In today’s Members article, we analyse the displays of Santi Cazorla and Shinji Kagawa against Sunderland and Everton respectively, and also run the rule over Eden Hazard’s first couple of league appearances in a Chelsea shirt:

Rather bizarrely, all three players’ last games for their respective clubs saw the trio produce an identical number of successful passes in the final third – a figure superior to any other player in Gameweek 1 and a clear indication as to how important they will prove to be over the season ahead. Looking at their roles within their new clubs, we compare each player’s stats to key individuals within their own teams as well as highlighting how the trio differ from one another in style:

        My defence is:

        Iva, Zab, Cuellar, Clyne, Demel.

I'm benching Demel and Guthrie. So it's between Clyne and Cuellar really.

I am also benching an extra mid and playing 4-3-3 but then again I have Ramires who i am benching before selling.

Seeing your team I would bench Clyne tbh, I would think about benching Ivan but would not have the guts to do it despite fancying Newc to grab a goal..

Cheers, Ajay. Mata is really giving me a headache. To be honest I don't fancy him to do anything against Newcastle but it's whether Clyne can deliver if I start him over Mata that's the big issue.

Feck sakes. This bandwagon is relentless. The answer is Rooney. One is a Man United striker, the other is a Swansea midfielder.

Yeah, Michu *could* out score Rooney but I know who I'd expect to score more. All day, every day.

Remember before the season started, anyone with a RMT midfield of Hazard, Cazorla, Kagawa, Michu had their team trashed by people all saying "too many punts in the midfield" or "they're going to get eased in to the Prem League". Now these guys are the hot players to have...

Arsenal get it together every season. Only two teams got it together more than Arsenal did last season.

by quite some distance. When I say get it together, I mean challenge for the league, put a run together, show some consistency, that might make Caz a fantasy goldmine

After 7 games, Arsenal was 17th last season. Considering they were the third last team to stop challenging for the title, finishing 14 places above where they started, I'd say that they "got it together" a bit more than Wigan and Everton.

When Arsenal beat the eventual champions over Easter, it was a three way race for the title. United was favourites, then City, then Arsenal. Nobody else was in it. Not Spurs, not Chelsea, not Newcastle, and definitely not Wigan or Everton.

Arsenal has consistently performed well for the last decade and a half. Therefore, Cazorla IS an FPL points goldmine. That's why he's my captain for GW2. 🙂

Not necessarily true. With the players Arsenal, ManU and ManC have they have great potential. Towards the end of the season Wigan and Everton were performing to the max of their ability. I would suggest that they got it together more..

Aussie newbie to FPL and to this site, blown away by the quality of articles on here, and thats just the free stuff so far

Graham as captain is what I'm swinging towards for GW2...crazy option? Considering Bale, Tevez and Michu also. Had an awful 54pts first up tho I dont think my teams all that bad (tho I'm fully prepared to be shot down here )...any help appreciated

    Vorm (Fed)
    Cole Zab Hange (Collocini Demel)
    Bale Michu Pienaar NZog (Beausejour)
    Torres Tevez Graham

4m in bank (did Ramires to Michu this week)

Apart from Pienaar (I have Yaya), it's the same starting front 7 as me.

I decided to bring in Michu ahead of Torres > Rooney as I think Torres gets another chance vs Newcastle due to his goal.

Just like United fans, this site has a great number of Breaking Bad fans. Btw, Mr. White, you need a grav.

I had switch to Bale for the captain armband this week. Tottenham really should score. Home game against West Brom (haven't kept a clean sheet for ages), Adebayor is there.....everything points to Bale playing a part in the goals.

Threat depends on the system. If we don't play two up front Cisse looks blunt. If we do it likely takes Taarabt out of the hole away from home.
