Amongst the ashes of the explosive opening weekend of Premier League football, we find the charred remains of the Flutter’s first betting slip. Each of our special doubles struck pay-dirt on one leg but pinched out on the other. But there’s gold in them hills, and this week’s Paddy Power special markets are set to help us find it.

After losing Gylfi Sigurdsson to Spurs and Brendan Rodgers to Liverpool, many believed Swansea’s football would be cagey at best early on under Michael Laudrup. Even the Dane himself would have been surprised at the ease at which his side picked off QPR last weekend, with his La Liga capture Michu the star turn. The Spaniard has attracted huge Fantasy investment this week, enjoying a 0.3 price rise in the FPL, and Michu goes into the home clash with a host of new owners. Michu to Score and Swansea to get a second clean-sheet of the season is a decent 15/2 with Paddy, and we’ll stake confident with £4.

Robin Van Persie is surely set to be unleashed against Fulham this weekend following United’s defeat at Goodison. Fantasy managers have, to this point, been hesitant to jump on board but an impact against the Cottagers would change that and have many a wildcard fluttering for Gameweek 3. A United cleanie and Van Persie to net twice is a respectable 13/2, but with Ferguson still testing the water and Van Persie perhaps limited to an hour of pitch time, we’ll only be backing a couple of quid.

Sunderland parked the bus at the Emirates with Martin O’Neill’s finely honed tactics enough to see them earn an unlikely 0-0 stalemate. Ricky Hatton look-a-like James McClean still managed to catch the eye and actually earned the maximum FPL bonus from the game with his contribution. McClean will surely get more freedom to attack against a newly promoted Reading side playing their third game in six days. With Sunderland buoyed by recent signings – Steven Fletcher and Adam Johnson, we’re seeing a positive result for the Black Cats with McClean a central figure. Paddy have McClean to score anytime and Sunderland to get a cleansheet at 9/1, which is perhaps a little skinny for some, but we’re willing to risk our final £4 on it.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

    morning all

woke up this morning with a strong feeling of not being happy with my goalkeeper combination at all.

    currently Ruddy & Begovic.

Don't even know who to play today... neither that appealing. Feel a bit amateur about this TBH

I think long term might revert back to Vorm/Krul which was so successful last season

the one with BAINES and the pig wins it

though i'd suggest cueller over verthonghen and then use that money to upgrade elsewhere. don't think 6.5 for a spurs defender is worth it. though if you wanna keep vert then downgrade saylor to a 4.0 as if you have 3 big defenders you should play them every week and then that 1.0 is just a waste

    Vorm/nicholls

    Jagielka-Zabaleta-Clyne-gunter-demel

      Adeba won't play yet.

So the first is the best imo.

    Torres (c)! Talk to me…

    1. 6 shots on goal last game and a goal
    2. Newcastle conceded 34 goals against away from home
    3. Chelsea out for revenge after last seasons defeat at Bridge (I think they had Champs league final coming up)
    4. Surely a better option than Michu?
    5. Talk Sport were raving about him against Wigan

thought he was rubbish last game....and midweek. I have him and I'm thinking Torres --> Rooney but might just wait until one of the two (RVP or Rooney) go off and I can pick the one who goes on a streak.

6 shots and 1 goal, ask yourself given that ratio do you think he is likely to get 6 shots again against newcastle?

A lot depends on the newcastle team. If tiote and colo are fit, he won't get too many chances. Of the 34 goals that we conceded away last season, almost half of them came in 3 games when tiote (and salyor) didn't play, colo missed one of those too. A full strength toon is a completely different proposition. Lots of talk that tiote is out, and colo is struggling, but nothing official. Last week half the team was expected to be out but all but colo played. You won't get any team news before the deadline. I would say torres (c) is a bit of a risk

FPL Tools have got him captain in their Dream Team and they are usually pretty good.

Just having Torres in my team is enough for me. Certainly would not risk the armband as a have a complete lack of confidence in him.

      1. 6 shots on goal. How many were on target? Not many from what i saw.
      2. Chinamag covered it.
      3. Revenge? Don't think its a factor.
      4. I've gone Bale (c) but Michu and Tevez (vc) ran him close. And +1 on what Lightspeed said
      5. I hate talksport and don't value their opinion at all (i'm sure they don't value mine either)

      Best of luck

How frustrating, after benching Michu last week it looks like my rival has now brought him in so I get no mini league advantage from owning him from the start.
