Has a stitched Wayne Rooney made things simple? Have we already got the template attacking lineup? Certainly Robin Van Persie’s goal, coupled with the injury to Rooney that looks to have sidelined him for a month, suggests that the source of attacking points at United is settled. Unless, of course, you’re committing to the slick trickery of Shinji Kagawa over Van Persie’s pure goal power.

City’s Carlos Tevez surely has another spot up front reserved for him and, while Fernando Torres is doing his upmost to cling to our affections, Eden Hazard’s irresistible form surely means that we have a preferred route to Chelsea’s flowing attacking points.

After just two weeks, a combination of Van Persie, Tevez and Hazard appears to give the very best coverage of potentially the three most potent teams in the league.

You can argue around this – Kagawa, Samir Nasri and Torres all offer the alternatives but, right now, while these words are typed, I’m struggling to see past this new holy trinity as the most powerful combination.

Throw in Michu, Steven Pienaar or Mauroanne Fellaini – perhaps dabble with Danny Graham up front while Swansea’s fixtures remain favourable, or even Emmanuel Adebayor to cover Tottenham’s attacking threat, and the template after Gameweek 2 begins to look solid.

As we discussed in the ScoutCast this week, there will be new names emerging that will threaten to break the ideas we have now but, in all honesty, it’s difficult to see Van Persie, Tevez and Hazard being anything other than season keepers; barring injury.

It can’t really be that simple and yet the twist of fate that saw Rooney first benched and then stretchered down the tunnel, almost rubber-stamped matters. There will surely be thousands scrambling for Van Perise, even more suitors for Hazard after another bout or returns from this evening’s victory. Meanwhile, Tevez has Liverpool in his sights tomorrow with a clear run of appearances while Sergio Aguero recuperates.

If you currently sit on all three, congratulations; please fight back the smugness. If you’ve none of the above, cling to the hope that there’s naivety in these words and that these power houses will falter. Either that, or scrub up for some serious squad surgery.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Hi All,

    Just looking for some opinions on what to do with my team please....

    Team is linked.

    Basically, the Rooney benching issue has really affected my score this week, and his subsequent injury means I have to transfer him out. That in turn means I have 3 chelsea and 1 reading not playing next week too.

    I'm so tempted to wildcard and start from fresh, as what started out as good team on paper, is looking pretty cack in reality.

    My first thoughts in terms of avoiding a wildcard is too dump mata and replace with kagawa, then dump rooney and get adebayor. In gw 4 I can then trade bale for hazard.

    What would you guys do with my team as it stands, take the hit, or wildcard?

    Thanks for any repsonses.

    JC

    Well, after a solid GW1 (89 pts) GW2 has been a deeeeeee-sas-ter!!

    GW1 transfer: Torres -> Rooney --- FAIL!!
    Captain armband to Rooney ---- FAIL!!!
    Benched: Lampard, Taarabt and Tierney ---- UBER FAIL!!
    Guthrie postponed (not taking the blame for that one...)

    So, rather than WC, I've gone for a drastic 8 pt hit:

    Rooney -> RVP
    Lampard -> Hazard
    Bent -> Graham

    Crazy I know, but RVP and Hazard are keepers (unless injured) and Graham has the next 5 fixtures.

    Even tempted to do Taarabt -> Fellaini

    What you think, crazy genius or just nuts!! Should I still WC?

        I hear you. Partly long term planning (and fearing the price hikes/falls) and part frustration.

        Hits this early are easily recoverable from, and I want to hold onto my WC longer than usual (Ideally Oct international break) so it felt ok.

        A strong GW1 made the pill easier to swallow tbh. Had to do the Graham transfer to finance RVP and Hazard.

    Also I now consider him essential. Hernandez can score goals, but can not play the role RvP played today, and gets caught offside, A LOT. Welbeck can play the role, but can not be relied on to be the main goal scorer. In the position PvP was in when he scored, Welbeck would have passed

    Wigan's next 7 home fixtures look amazing (with the exception of MCI in GW14)...

    Some sort of defensive/attacking rotation with QPR or Norwich looks to be on the cards here... although given that it's those two teams, I'd say it would have to be an attacking rotation...

    Maloney/Miyaichi rotating with Pilkington/Taarabt for the next 12 weeks looks very good...

    Anyone else noticed that?

          Buuuuut it is potentially playing the likes of Taarabt. I actually like Pilkington, Maloney has been okay but no amazing returns yet and Miyaichi still settling. If I had to I'd go for Miyaichi and Pilkington but I really wouldn't be expecting any great returns, even with nice fixtures. Maybe an assist or even a goal at the very very best.

      Boyce covers Wigan in both attack and defence. Rotates with Fulham, Sunderland to name a couple.

    rvp is currently on 78% on totalfpl and 84% on fiso. How many hours before the prices change? Any chance rvp rises today?

    I see a lot of people are taking -4 hits. I always thought that a pro should never take a hit. What does everyone think is an ok situation to take a hit?

      I often take hits. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Certainly didnt today as it cost me 21 points removing Cole & Torres and getting Vidic & Rooney.....

          When you have 12 million sitting on the bench from injury and 25 million sitting on the bench from DGW/NoGW then you have to do it. Poor planning, yes, but some unexpected things have happened.

      When your team is f**ked/ RVP is playing against a team whose 1st team defenders have all come down with explosive diarrhoea, preferably QPR.

      I take it when I have useless dead weight in the team. So I took a hit this week in order to get rid of Ramires.

          Alright calm down. I was asking what people thought because I always thought you should never take a hit. I have seen that people think differently on the matter, but i wasn't asking to change my opinion, more to hear others.

    Torres>Rvp for a hit actually benefitted me.

    Without Rvp, I had Bale captained.

    Torres - 11
    Bale (c) - 4
    Total = 15

    RVP (c) - 18
    Bale - 2
    Total = 20 (-4) = 16

    And it's one less transfer I need to do this week.
