Has a stitched Wayne Rooney made things simple? Have we already got the template attacking lineup? Certainly Robin Van Persie’s goal, coupled with the injury to Rooney that looks to have sidelined him for a month, suggests that the source of attacking points at United is settled. Unless, of course, you’re committing to the slick trickery of Shinji Kagawa over Van Persie’s pure goal power.

City’s Carlos Tevez surely has another spot up front reserved for him and, while Fernando Torres is doing his upmost to cling to our affections, Eden Hazard’s irresistible form surely means that we have a preferred route to Chelsea’s flowing attacking points.

After just two weeks, a combination of Van Persie, Tevez and Hazard appears to give the very best coverage of potentially the three most potent teams in the league.

You can argue around this – Kagawa, Samir Nasri and Torres all offer the alternatives but, right now, while these words are typed, I’m struggling to see past this new holy trinity as the most powerful combination.

Throw in Michu, Steven Pienaar or Mauroanne Fellaini – perhaps dabble with Danny Graham up front while Swansea’s fixtures remain favourable, or even Emmanuel Adebayor to cover Tottenham’s attacking threat, and the template after Gameweek 2 begins to look solid.

As we discussed in the ScoutCast this week, there will be new names emerging that will threaten to break the ideas we have now but, in all honesty, it’s difficult to see Van Persie, Tevez and Hazard being anything other than season keepers; barring injury.

It can’t really be that simple and yet the twist of fate that saw Rooney first benched and then stretchered down the tunnel, almost rubber-stamped matters. There will surely be thousands scrambling for Van Perise, even more suitors for Hazard after another bout or returns from this evening’s victory. Meanwhile, Tevez has Liverpool in his sights tomorrow with a clear run of appearances while Sergio Aguero recuperates.

If you currently sit on all three, congratulations; please fight back the smugness. If you’ve none of the above, cling to the hope that there’s naivety in these words and that these power houses will falter. Either that, or scrub up for some serious squad surgery.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Hey y'all,
Looking at my team what would u say are the most urgent concerns for gwk3

    al habsi
    Boyce Collins lescott (terry fabio)
    Kagawa pienaar nasri mcclean hoillet
    Torres giroud pogrebnyak

    What would u do?

I'd get rid of Terry as I wouldn't like to rely on West Ham and Wigan defences for clean sheets. I recommend getting Baines.

I have N'Zog, who is gonna drop. I have Marveaux, who is gonna drop soon. I have Bennett, who is not playing anymore. I have Federici, who might be sh*t. I have Gerrard, whose team might be sh*t and is playing sh*t. I have Bale, whose team might be disappointing and is playing... well... okay.

Worth a wildcard or just a 4pt/8pt hit?

since you have the word "want" instead of "need" in your post, I'd say save the wildcard.

The first two look good, or even 1 and 4 to get rid of a chelsea blank. Nasri is too risky still with this little info.

Of course not. Get RVP add Nasri/Michu for GW 3 and take a 4 point hit (Bench lamps if you get Michu). Do the other midfielder the week after and do Baines the week after that (Cole is doing well, no hurry to get Baines)

Is RVP essential? He's soooooooo expensive and for 13.0 I want guaranteed double figures.. He's most probably on pens, corners and free kicks, lone striker. However, 13.0. Would practically have to decimate my team to get him in, yet his fixtures in gw 3 and 4 are almost perfect. Rooney may be back by gw 5.. or not? DILEMMA MUCH

his move to United and his price have made him mortal IMO. No guarantees, little value for money. I say this, yet he's still attracting all of my focus and planning, too. I'm gonna hold off and try to break the spell after the GW ends, then reassess.

Not value at all, anymore. No way he can replicate last year's goal haul. Still have lingering worries whether he can remain healthy two years in a row. Last year was his first. Not being a hater, as I rode the RVP train all season long last year, but that was at a different price point. Mortal for sure.

Made my one transfer this week and I'm happy... Terry to Baines is what I had been planning for a while, and some good advice has reassured me on that... and I have 2 frees for next week too...

I'm going with my instincts here and not knee jerking to chase value... only time will tell if I made the right decision... I happen to like my team without Hazard and Michu...

Having no Man Utd attacking coverage is another thing altogether.. that worries me, but is something that can be remedied in one or two free transfers depending on who I chose from Kagawa or RVP...

I have Torres and Graham, think that is ample attacking coverage for Chelsea and Swans...

Would like RVP but would mean I'd have to lose Cazorla, and I am convinced he will come good soon...

This happens every year, where some players start the season really well and everybody jumps on them, then their returns dry up and because people have made value on them they don't want to switch them out, which means when someone else pops up with good form these people miss out cos they are clinging on to a 0.3 value gain...

Like I said, time will tell...

Newcastle are a team I am looking at investing in. Overall their fixtures from GW 3-15 look great...

Yep looks like they're getting reasonably predictable now using TotalFPL. Predictions were here - seem to have all come off.

So glad I escaped the N'Zogbia fall - and the Marveaux fall later in the week.

I should stop reading these knee-jerky comments! They're making me want to bring in RVP which would mean taking an 8 point hit. I think I'll resist the urge to pull the trigger on that one, it seems illogical to transfer out Bale; his next 3 fixtures are against the leakiest defences in the league and the Tottenham attack might start firing with Adebayor back in the starting line-up...

i'm keeping Bale too and staying away from RVP, not yet convinced by him, not at his current price
