Has a stitched Wayne Rooney made things simple? Have we already got the template attacking lineup? Certainly Robin Van Persie’s goal, coupled with the injury to Rooney that looks to have sidelined him for a month, suggests that the source of attacking points at United is settled. Unless, of course, you’re committing to the slick trickery of Shinji Kagawa over Van Persie’s pure goal power.

City’s Carlos Tevez surely has another spot up front reserved for him and, while Fernando Torres is doing his upmost to cling to our affections, Eden Hazard’s irresistible form surely means that we have a preferred route to Chelsea’s flowing attacking points.

After just two weeks, a combination of Van Persie, Tevez and Hazard appears to give the very best coverage of potentially the three most potent teams in the league.

You can argue around this – Kagawa, Samir Nasri and Torres all offer the alternatives but, right now, while these words are typed, I’m struggling to see past this new holy trinity as the most powerful combination.

Throw in Michu, Steven Pienaar or Mauroanne Fellaini – perhaps dabble with Danny Graham up front while Swansea’s fixtures remain favourable, or even Emmanuel Adebayor to cover Tottenham’s attacking threat, and the template after Gameweek 2 begins to look solid.

As we discussed in the ScoutCast this week, there will be new names emerging that will threaten to break the ideas we have now but, in all honesty, it’s difficult to see Van Persie, Tevez and Hazard being anything other than season keepers; barring injury.

It can’t really be that simple and yet the twist of fate that saw Rooney first benched and then stretchered down the tunnel, almost rubber-stamped matters. There will surely be thousands scrambling for Van Perise, even more suitors for Hazard after another bout or returns from this evening’s victory. Meanwhile, Tevez has Liverpool in his sights tomorrow with a clear run of appearances while Sergio Aguero recuperates.

If you currently sit on all three, congratulations; please fight back the smugness. If you’ve none of the above, cling to the hope that there’s naivety in these words and that these power houses will falter. Either that, or scrub up for some serious squad surgery.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

To be able to get Hazard next week, I need to go Taarabt>Guthrie and Nasri>Hazard.

As it stands, I only have 0.2mill breathing space, and no FT this week.

Taarabt is about to drop, and Hazard will undoubtedly rise further.

Is it worth doing Taarabt>Guthrie now for a -4, and benching him this week?

Am I crazy to not get Hazard still? Should I just get him now and get a 4 point hit for GW3 (he won't be playing, but his price might rise??) or wait for GW4?

Crazy to even consider it imo. Whats 0.1 or 0.2 over the course of a season? And you are bringing in a very expensive player who isnt even playing next week.

I'm waiting for a week and most likely doing Bale>Hazard (providing Bale doesnt kill Norwich)

Had Stevens AV, Bennett, NOR, Ireland, AV and Giroud, ARS, plus 2 Chelsea players so had no alternative but to play WC.

    Now happy with squad.

i see why you'd think he's a season keeper its just if you look at the fixtures everton have with the fact that he's baines and has great attacking potential I think it's hard to go without him. and then he's an easy transfer back to lescott for a .1 or .2 or maybe .3 profit depending how much he tears it up in addition to the .5 difference to begin with

The only kneejerk I'm convinced about is Hazard.

Tevez/Nasri/RVP/Kagawa still very early days to call them essentials, more so RVP cos he's super-expensive and SAF has all kind of attacking options.

I agree, although i think Kag is a keeper, but i will prob go for RVP for Man U attacking cover.

I just can't bring myself to do it this week though, might just RVP this week. If Hazard's price rises another 0.1 then i won't be able to afford both though, unless i ditch Bale (which i would rather not).

See this is where it's different. A whole season for Arsenal at his peak form is going to be very different from 75% (could be lesser) of a season for Utd at below peak form.

        Not convinced at all.

Even Graham seems a better option than RVP at the mo.

That was a point I was going to make earlier...

RVP has to continually score more than double Graham's total over the season to prove his value to me... he would need to reach the heights of last year, and I can't see him doing that, as he is bound to be rested at some point in an 'easy' home game they could win without him... and the extra money will come in handy for defensive/midfield strengthening, etc...

Precisely, this isn't the same RVP of Arsenal.

Expect him to be rested for the easiest of home games & there goes your favorite captain's pick down the drain.

I'm not convinced Hazard can maintain this kind of scoring/assisting form...

I have accepted that I missed the boat on that one...

Chelsea have had 3 penalties in 3 games - that won't continue... that's almost half of his output gone if they weren't given...

Zep, can I ask you if you've been watching the games? Every single chance we create/score in the attacking third has gone through Hazard. This season, you're going to find Lamps on the bench very often - that gives him corners & penalties as well.

I missed the boat too! Didn't want to jinx him but delighted he's settled in the league faster than the speed of light.

Being in Australia, and working full time, it's not possible for me to watch all the games, but I try to see as many highlights as I can...

I agree he is playing well, and will even continue to create chances, but I;m not convinced that these chances will continue to be made into FPL points...

Surely it has to dry up, and given that we have missed 3 consecutive double figure hauls, one has to be shrewd and objective about one's chances of receiving a blank score from a 10m+ player in subsequent fixtures.

I think I have just talked myself out of getting him in, not because I'm stubborn, but because I'm not willing to overhaul my carefully planned team to do it...

I am a little bit stubborn, though... 😉

    Repost...............

Really need some advice and help lads please. WC has to be played this week I think.

Current Team with 4.5 in bank:
    DDG/Federici
    Cole/Zab/Demel/Hangeland/Stevens
    Bale/MataNZogbia/Kac/RobsonKanu
    Tevez/Torres/Graham

Thinking of bringing in RVP/Hazard/Pienaar (lose Torres) or
    Kagawa/Cazorla/Pienaar (keeping Torres).

Both options keep Bale and have some other minor changes.

Slightly leaning toward the latter which would spread coverage over all top teams Kag/Caz/Pien/Torres/Tev but I really need help!!!

Going to be a tight finish in the UEFA EPL:

West brom (me): 55 +1 off the bench -8 hit so 48 with Tevez & Zabletta to play.
Spurs (FuzzyW): 42 with Tevez, Zabletta & Lescott to play.

so city cs with no card for lescott ties it up. I think we could have our first tie of the season. that or you'll win methinks

for me i'm ahead by 4 with tevez + nasri vs declan with lescott + podolski

Evening DZ. Flying starts and soft landings all around I hope.

All a bit of a chess game right now with fixtures, form and the dread of price rises for those players you think you have to have. Am considering holding both Ivanovic and Torres through their blank. Not sure if this wise with Ivan though as Chelsea face a tough run of fixtures after good ones in week 4 and 5. It'll be Graham or Petric this week in for Pog I think.

to do it this week would be for a hit if I also do the Pog to Graham or Petric. I feel the forward slot is more pressing

Yeah Pog replacement is more crucial. Hold onto Ivan imo.

I am biased against taking hits though, almost went Torres to RVP this week for a hit, and the caution paid off there.

I rarely take hits. I took one to bring in RVP last year before his price rocketed. I don't feel the need to chase him right now though. Would rather have the midfield I want in a few weeks.

Ja atm, the only reason I will take a hit is if the price rise would otherwise prevent my moves. Something i am hoping doesn't happen with Hazard :/

The attacking rise is due to the lower reliance on Graham and Siggy/Michu to produce the goals imo.

The wings cutting in makes a big difference. I feel that Dyer and Routledge will struggle with that against the bigger sides though, so dunno how Swansea will do then, or if Laudrup will take them wide for those matches.

how does this plan sound? thanks to those who have already shared their thoughts, just want a couple more opinions

this week: ivanovic to baines for a hit before baines rises (have just enough to do it)
next week: hangeland to hughes to raise money for bale to hazard for a hit

i could wait two weeks on baines (1 less hit) but i'm afraid i'll lose money on ivanovic and/or baines will rise and then i won't be able to afford him. basically if i did what i'm proposing i'll have 1.0 to upgrade ivanovic and bale to baines but an ivanovic drop (which i'm afraid of because of the blank) would mean i'd have .9 and right now baines is .5 more (though already at 59% so recon he'll rise within the next two weeks time) and hazard is .3 more I believe and will probably rise by .1 or .2 by the time i get him

and i need to hangeland to hughes to be able to afford bale to hazard

I want to get rid of Ramires should I do:

    b) Petric/Graham to RVP (have Michu & Kagawa) for a 4pt hit

I wouldnt be scrambling to get Hazard in when he has a blank. Knowing the casuals on this game they will only realise he doesnt have a game by next week and his price will start falling again.

I have RVP and think he will score BIG again this year, I also am happy to have Guthrie as my 4.5 bench fodder. So my biased opinion is b). But if you ask me in a weeks time It'd be a tough choice

Bale>Hazard is in my provisional thinking for next week.

See how things go next week against Norwich of course. But my gut feeling right now is that AVB is embarking on another managerial failure with Spurs and us Bale owners are going to suffer.

          Early days yet though..............

But if you get on board the right trains, and make your moves before prices go up and down, a whole lot of 0.1 here and 0.1 there can add up to an extra 1.0 or 1.5 to buy those points as the season rolls on.
