It seems strange – given a run of fixtures which sees Newcastle now square up to (AVL, eve, NOR, rdg) – that Papiss Cisse has been transferred out by over 24,000 Fantasy managers prior to this weekend’s matches. With wildcards wielded at a quick-fire pace, the Senegal striker has racked up a significant number of sales after failing to find the net against Tottenham and Chelsea in his opening two Gameweeks:

It’s almost as if many have forgotten his impact last season. Having joined up in January from Bundesliga outfit SC Frieburg, Cisse’s scoring exploits quickly saw him cement the position as the main attacking source of points for the Magpies. From 13 starts and a single substitute appearance, his owners were rewarded with 13 goals and a pair of assists in the FPL game; factor in 20 bonus points and Cisse had accrued 105 points – an average of 7.5 points per game, which was second only to Robin Van Persie in the previous campaign.

While Cisse’s arrival on Tyneside afforded Fantasy managers with a consistent source of points, his presence in Alan Pardew’s first XI proved hugely detrimental to Demba Ba. Shifted to the left flank as the Magpies boss rolled out a 4-3-3, the former West Ham man failed to replicate the returns accrued over the first half of the season and drew a blank from February onwards as his compatriot went from strength to strength.

Ba’s chances of increased points potential looked prosperous as Pardew returned to 4-4-2 for the season opener with Spurs but a half-time switch to 4-3-3 saw him moved back to the left wing. Ironically, Ba’s goal came from out wide but his overall goal returns from his position on the flank have been far from fruitful. While the 4-3-3 also gives Hatem Ben Arfa a more advanced role, it’s already apparent that Pardew is prepared to tinker with his tactics in accordance with the Magpies’ opponents – the only real constant has been Cisse’s central role up front, regardless of formation.

In spite of this, he has received relatively few investors ahead of the above-mentioned upcoming schedule. From an FPL perspective, the less expensive Ba (7.5) and Ben Arfa (7.6) have been drafted in by 87,000 and 51,000 managers respectively this week, while Cisse, at 9.5 in FPL and 9.3 in the Sky Sports game, has made his way into just 13,000 FPL teams by comparison. Price, clearly, has proven to be the sticking point for many but, as Cisse’s history shows, there’s every chance many could come to regret their decision to overlook the January signing, with the clash against an out-of-sorts Villa just the type of platform to elevate his potential as armband material this weekend.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

my wc will be saved for when I need, or when it is worthwhile to use

That means when I can only get 8 or less out in a GW (thus requiring a massive hit) or if there is a DGW of the size of GW36 last year, when it could prove profitable points wise. Anything else, you just muddle through and change gradually

But if someone in a wheelchair say has no use of their legs, is it inconceivable that they can't like watching sports where people use their legs? It's hardly a leap of faith to enjoy something you CAN'T do. In fact that's what most of us enjoy watching, things we cannot do. Still not very impressed by your comment.

Using a wheelchair isn't a tactic, it's because something terrible has happened to you that has caused you to use it. Therefore if you can play any sport and move around it's a remarkable achievement, stop being an attention seeking idiot.

I'm not attention seeking, I am being perfectly honest.

Using a wheelchair naturally impacts on movement, positively and negatively. That will undoubtably affect the positioning, movement involved in the sport.

Empathise is to put yourself in someone else's position and imagine how they're feeling, this doesn't necessarily just apply to those who have suffered misfortune.

I really think you're reading too much into this.

For a start he doesn't say 'on any level'.

Secondly, I wasn't offering praise, I was responding to Willis who suggested a lack of empathy might imply a lack of caring.

Thirdly, it's not wrong or abhorrent to be unable to place yourself in the position of someone competing in the paralympics. Gink's point was that he finds it harder to appreciate the skills/techniques involved because he has never applied them himself.

Not wanting to see bigotry/discrimination is admirable but I really feel you're being overly sensitive here. Gink is a regular poster and has never come across as in any way insensitive/hateful.

I suspect that isn't true but if it is, then that surely invalidates your contention that all it takes is imagination. You can relate to and empathise with disabled sports people because you have suffered a very similar experience. You don't have to use your imagination to empathise - you have real life to fall back on. The monkey has suffered no such tragedy and therefore finds it hard to empathise.

I'd have to be seriously sick to make something up like that, and to be honest I'm pretty offended you'd suspect me to be lying. Empathising is not to do with real life experience that you translate into caring. You can care about lots of things you have never suffered from or been subjected to. The reason why we empathise with other human beings around the world is purely because of imagination. If we didn't have this imagination, why would we care about others suffering elsewhere? You don't need to know what it's like to suffer tragedy to feel something for others that go through it.

I don't think this conversation is going anywhere good now. But you are still confusing "empathise" with "sympathise".

I am very sorry if you were hurt, as you say you were. The timing of when you said it combined with what you had said earlier led me to believe that you had fabricated the story to try to make a point. I am genuinely sorry if that offended you.

Apology accepted, thanks. My only motivation to replying to this was to discuss the reasoning behind your man's comments. I'm not in a wheelchair but I know I was very close to losing the use of my leg and it's scary to have a brush with tragedy. It's probably best to think about how unfortunate these guys are to have to tactically use a wheelchair to play sport and not be complaining that you don't know how to use one.

Bit nervous about Jenkinson once Sagna comes back, what about Cuellar or Hughes? Also, not tempted by Jarvis over Nolan? Could be a great pick with Carroll there to get on the end of his crosses and hold the ball up for his bursts from midfield

Probably arrived at the wrong end of London. Give him some time - he'll arrive to at the right stadium.

There is too much of bad blood b/w the Berbatov and Tottenham....The way he left the club 4 years back, will surely be on Levy's mind.

I think he's gonna be the last choice for Spurs. So if deals for William, Damiao, Llorente fail, he will get Berbatov as the last resort.

After signing 252 people, I bet they won't even know their teammates tomorrow on the pitch. They'll just pass it to Tevez.
