Fantasy managers face an anxious wait after reports on Tuesday evening stated that Robin Van Persie was subbed off at half-time in Holland’s World Cup Qualifier due to a thigh knock. The Man United striker was replaced by Klaas-Jan Huntelaar for the second half of the 4-1 win over Hungary.

The Daily Mail were amongst the first news sources to report on the potential injury and they offer up a much tweeted quote from Dutch coach Louis van Gaal which, if confirmed, offers some reassurance on the extent of the problem…

“We took off Robin for precautionary measures. It doesn’t seem to be too serious, but you never know. We didn’t want to take any risks.”

Reports elsewhere are scarce at the time of writing, although the official site of the Dutch FA state that Van Persie did sustain a thigh injury and the BBC are also running a report. United have also recently picked up the news in their round-up of tonight’s international action…

“While Welbeck looked in good shape, the fitness of a fellow United forward could be a concern at Carrington as the Reds prepare for Saturday’s return to league action. Robin van Persie was substituted at half-time as the Netherlands won 4-1 in Hungary on Tuesday night, although quotes attributed to his national coach Louis van Gaal suggest the withdrawal was just a precautionary measure.”

With Shinji Kagawa missing Japan’s match with Iraq earlier on today due to a back problem, Sir Alex Ferguson may be facing an up-front headache for Saturday’s game with Wigan. Van Persie’s sensational form, which has harvested four goals in two starts since moving to Old Trafford, was set to make him an overwhelming armband candidate for Gameweek 4. Huge numbers have acquired his services across the Fantasy games in preparation for the Latics’ visit – they will be amongst many now hoping that the reported quotes are correct and that Van Persie’s withdrawal was no more than precautionary.

We’ll doubtless have more on this in the next 24-hours with Van Persie likely to undergo a full assessment back at Old Trafford.

At the moment my WC team looks like:

    Jussi Begovic
    Baines Ridgewell Cuellar Hughes Gunter
    Hazard Cazorla HBA Michu Guthrie
    RVP Tevez Fletcher

I really want a Tottenham player (preferably attacker) (yes seems silly I know) in there somewhere but can't find a way without wrecking the balance of the team or losing Cazorla. Ideas?

Would stay without Spurs attack right now, your team looks good apart from the keeper combo.

Have you considered Foster in goal?

Yep, I looked at Foster + Begovic with Demel as a defender.

        Same teams, 0.4 cheaper.

I felt what I have now offers better potential for points though, and I'd say I'll stay with what I've got unless I need to squeeze another player in (e.g. a Tottenham player)

    BACARY SAGNA
"Broken Leg Sustained injury in 5/5 game against Norwich. Player revealed on 6/9 he was hopeful of returning before end of month."
"One week ago I resumed training with ball. I hoped to be back just after international break, but it will be too close," he said.
"I missed have missed four months twice [in the last year], so I need to be perfectly fit."

As these things always takes longer than expected, I think we will see Jenkinson for another 2 or 3 game weeks easily if you ask me.

Your team looks good, but I don't know about those two cheap mids. Not sure how Milan will do, so don't know about Pazzini, although I have Boateng in my mid...

Ok guys help me out here for some fun: Points predictions over next 4 GW:

    Hazard: (qpr/STO/ars/NOR) Mine: (5/5/2/10 = 22)

    Cazorla: (SOU/mci/CHE/whm) Mine: (12/2/5/3 = 22)

Worth saving 1.0 & transfer (GW8 anyway) to go Cazorla now?

Poor predictions if you ask me.

5 points is a rare return for a midfielder.

I'd just get both, but if you had to pick one, it has to be Hazard on form.

Some difficult decisions now. My team atm:
    Mign (Fred)
Cole Williams Zaba (Mc Cartney, Cuellar)
    Toure Kagawa Dyer Guthry (Noble)
    RvP Tevez Bent

1 transfer n 2.3 in d bank. Not sure what road to take now. Both goalkeepers n defense are problematic.
Should I transfer a def out, or bring in Hazard? Bent was my punt which did not work out. He has already dropped .2 but has 'favourable' fix.

    Suggustions would be welcome:)

    Vorm

    Saylor Jenkinson Vertonghen

    Bale Yaya BenArfa Pienaar

    RVP(C) Holt Tevez

thats how im lining up for this week. Feeling pretty optimistic, but scared that the lack of any Chelsea will hurt me WEEKLY. Pienaar or HBA have to make way to let Hazard in and probably a 4-8pt hit as well....cant get rid of Bale and Vertonghen with their fixtures. Cant get rid of RVP to upgrade mids and get in chelsea coverage. Cant get rid of Tevez to upgrade mids and get Chelsea coverage. Cant do much with a 6m forward in holt/petric/lambert, to get in chelsea coverage.

    etc. etc.

    Still feeling optimistic though 🙂

don't think Bale can drop another .1 can he? I don't mind a .1 drop for his 'impending spree' 🙂

God I hope he starts banging in the pts. Could do with a massive Spurs win and clean sheet and then ill be happy for another 2 gameweeks at the very least (Spurs have two home matches against 'fodder' after reading away). Amazing.

In a sadistic sort of way, I hope RVP is out for a month or two so the world opens up again....imagine what you could do with 13.4mil and not having to worry about not having such a person because nobody else does either!!!

      1) It's decent - is it a wildcard team? If so, I'd consider losing Zabs (rotation risk from Maicon and Micah once fit), Vorm (defence has been mullered by injuries/suspensions, and Petric (I think Berba is the better pick personally).
      2) Dyer
      3) Tevez, just over Cazorla imo

I did too. Not too sure now. He said "It's not that serious and I don't think it will keep me out for long." I think it's enough to warrant a rest for a home clash against Wigan and keep him fresh for UCL, especially with so many midfielders vying for spots at United.

Yeah, that is a concern. The fact his game-time keeps getting cut short is one of the main reasons I was planning on getting rid next week. I'm 0.1m short of a Kagawa -> Cazorla move this week though, so I think I may run the risk and hope Kagawa plays. I think he'll either start or not play at alll, so if he doesn't then Guthrie playing at home isn't the worst sub in the world....

in the past, sir alex always changed his lineup everytime after international break and champions league matches. i reckon that kagawa will be rested, especially he just coming back from long flight..with scholes and giggs come into the team

Yeah, you're probably right unfortunately. Saving the freebie this week and then Kagawa & Pod -> Hazard & Lambert in GW5, and then Zab -> Baines in GW6 are still my probably moves though - thoughts?

Haha, thanks! I'm nearly that bad, but not quite! Just a week in Koh Samui - direct flights from HK and stayed at a mate's villa for free, so was great!

Just came back to see Kagawa and RVP (my 2 main hopefuls this week) are potentially injured!!

Ouch. I've been in two minds all week about whether to bring in RVP. I really don't want to, but might have to as EVERYONE else has him. This news means that I have a nother reason to go without!

I think if fit, he's almost essential. Nailed on (c) this week and I expect him to deliver with the ammunition United have. That said, if you don't already have him, he's expensive and his fixtures turn bad after this week. Throw in the injury concern, and it's actually a tough choice!

      Welcome back mate.

Notice ur team lacks Hazard, can I ask y? just can't fit him in now?

Weighing up Santi v Hazard over next 4 GW's and just curious to know ur thoughts, most are saying Hazard due to fixtures.

Yeah, I nearly did (and perhaps should have done) Bale -> Hazard at the start of this GW, but held off in case there were injuries in the internationals. I now can't afford that trade after the price movements. I plan to bring Hazard in next week (GW5) and then Santi in for Hazard in GW8, so I would say Hazard is the most important of the 2 to have in the short term. From GW8 onwards though, CHE's fixtures get very tough, and Arsenal's ease up, so it's a fairly easy swap (assuming both still on form) imo.

Yeh was planning the Santi in GW8 if I went Hazard also. Which looks the safer bet now.

Unlucky, but always safe to wait, I have done that as well, and missed 0.2 rises on Haz. If RVP is confirmed ok, will get Haz for Nasri. Cheers Jins.

Your team looks good for this week saving the FT.

I'm not overly concerned - he's on such high ownership it'll effect most players if he's out, and it doesn't sound that serious.

But for those of us without him, and trying to decide whether to bring him in or not, it makes the decision a whole lot easier. Even if he does only miss one game (or just play 60mins), then that is the one easy game that you'd really worried about being without him. For the following games, it might be better to use your money elsewhere!

yeah wow. can't believe that home run baker don't trip off the tongue where i'm from. being, as he is, an irish legend. wait, he ain't that, nor is he anything to me, or to anyone i've ever met. 'grab your irony and shove it right back up yer hole.' is what i'd say if offence were taken. which it almost was. i can associate words with pictures, believe it or nay. mine was but an attempt at levity, andsome kinda effort at bringing home run baker together with joseph gordon levitt. as, how i sees it, he was cast by god for the role

It really depends on which defence you are backing imo.

If for example you think Newcastle will replicate their form from last year, STaylor is a good pick. Or if you think Villa will benefit from not being mismanaged by McLeish anymore, then Clark is a good option.

much as it's the most depressing program ever produced, 6 feet under is nothing less than magisterial perfection. all the dillweeds wot figure that breaking bad is 'hands down the greatest show of all time' need to remind themselves that tv existed before 2005. BB is a wonderful show but really guys, the best ever? i think not. the wire for one is better. if only by the width of a fingernail. but i'd place 6 feet under above them both. dealing, as it does, with every subtle complexity of the human condition, it fukkin grabs you, shakes you sh1tless and reminds you what it is to live. fare thee well alan ball. from 6FU to true blood, wow. if there was a god i'd accuse you of doing omething very untoward with his mother

I don't really watch tv at all.... but what about lost and 24? heard those were great shows. and i saw a few episodes of 24 and loved it, just never got to watching the whole thing.

also what about the office and big bang theory? have seen a couple episodes of each of those, quality!

though obviously i haven't seen any other series to really be able to compare...

Lost was amazing initially and had the potential to be one of the best shows ever but its went downhill near the end when they just tried to prolong it.

Breaking Bad is quite all right. Does not even enter my top 10 of TV series. Dexter turns very repetitive quite fast.

      6 feet under was superb!

And The Wire, I lack superlatives.

China it looks like your hard decision has been made for you with this injury. No point getting him now especially with a couple of tough games on the horizon. Is that the general logic?

Agreed. I know all about him being fixture proof. Had him from the start last year. But I would still prefer Torres then aguero with great fixtures + 2.5m to RVP with crap fixtures!

Unlikely to clear anything up I'm afraid. I think he will probably feature but there is a good chance that he will start on the bench to come on if needed, or come off after 60mins if they are a couple of goals up.

I would expect him to cover for colo. willo is more cover for when Taylor is out. No official confirmation as to how long colo will be out for, but speculation is that it will be around one month. Don't fancy our defence without colo though.

From what Laudrup said after the Taylor injury, he valued Davis' abilities, but thought that it was too much of a responsibility for him to be the main left back the whole season. This translates to the two of them rotating that left back berth in some kind of fashion. I.e. this is not a good time to get either Davis or the new guy.

      not much value at 4.5

there are either good budget options at 4 or defenders of defensively very solid teams at 5

Negative. I've ended up with that more out of choice than budget reasons, although it does allow me to have a heavy front 8. But I'm happy with that back 7. Just torn over picking the right ones in that range like Clark/Hughes, Clyne/Gorkss/Demel etc.
