Fantasy managers face an anxious wait after reports on Tuesday evening stated that Robin Van Persie was subbed off at half-time in Holland’s World Cup Qualifier due to a thigh knock. The Man United striker was replaced by Klaas-Jan Huntelaar for the second half of the 4-1 win over Hungary.

The Daily Mail were amongst the first news sources to report on the potential injury and they offer up a much tweeted quote from Dutch coach Louis van Gaal which, if confirmed, offers some reassurance on the extent of the problem…

“We took off Robin for precautionary measures. It doesn’t seem to be too serious, but you never know. We didn’t want to take any risks.”

Reports elsewhere are scarce at the time of writing, although the official site of the Dutch FA state that Van Persie did sustain a thigh injury and the BBC are also running a report. United have also recently picked up the news in their round-up of tonight’s international action…

“While Welbeck looked in good shape, the fitness of a fellow United forward could be a concern at Carrington as the Reds prepare for Saturday’s return to league action. Robin van Persie was substituted at half-time as the Netherlands won 4-1 in Hungary on Tuesday night, although quotes attributed to his national coach Louis van Gaal suggest the withdrawal was just a precautionary measure.”

With Shinji Kagawa missing Japan’s match with Iraq earlier on today due to a back problem, Sir Alex Ferguson may be facing an up-front headache for Saturday’s game with Wigan. Van Persie’s sensational form, which has harvested four goals in two starts since moving to Old Trafford, was set to make him an overwhelming armband candidate for Gameweek 4. Huge numbers have acquired his services across the Fantasy games in preparation for the Latics’ visit – they will be amongst many now hoping that the reported quotes are correct and that Van Persie’s withdrawal was no more than precautionary.

We’ll doubtless have more on this in the next 24-hours with Van Persie likely to undergo a full assessment back at Old Trafford.

I tend to agree. Utd can't really afford him not to, if he's not *really* injured. Would seem a candidate for a 60 minute sub out, if anything.

Wenger rode him like a donkey last year, I imagine he's up to the task until Rooney's return.

Yep off at 60 minutes, who will play behind him though, given that Kagawa is out?

        Giggs or Cleverly?

After two weeks, Scholes should be in contention, too.

          My guess would be

          RVP
          Welbeck
          Young Scholes TonyV
          Carrick

          Defense

so if I will sell them for 6.1 6.0 and 5.1 respectively and get Santi in to my team do I lose some money on this or just my team value will change???can anyone explain to me how it works...Thanks in advance

If you buy a player for 6.0 and sell him for 6.2 you'll make 50% of profit so 0.1.

If you buy a player at 6.0 and sell him at 6.1 you'll lose the profit as it's rounded down so selling price would still only be 6.0.

Basically player needs to rise at least 0.2 for you to make profit when selling.

David Silva anyone? Seems to be a forgotten man. Didn't see the QPR game but the members stats suggest he had a good game. If he got a lucky assist he would be in a lot of WC team's... If he does anything next game no doubt it's bandwagon time. Thinking about risking him in my WC team. I have a lot of ground to make up and not 1 person has him in my money league

Like Bale, he's going to spark at some point but I'm not sure many can afford to miss out on Hazard/Cazorla/Michu while they are in bloom. Mancini said that Silva was jaded and, with the international break, maybe we'll see him with a little more zest which could unlock returns. Bale is my preferred option if I wanted to take a risk on a differential, though.

Silva's value for the first half of last season was down to his consistency with assists if I remember correctly. He's not a player you would bank on scoring week in week out. So he's a little riskier to gamble on than say the likes of Bale whose main attribute is he can get you huge returns if he's on fire. Silva really needs to hit strong form for him to become a real consideration for many. His cost is not really justifiable until he shows signs of his past consistency.

I was sorely tempted to wildcard beginning of the international break make a few tweaks here and there and play the money game, I resisted temptation and intend to use it on next international break, trouble is I now have quite a few injury doubts team is

    Ddg/Fed
    Demel/Clyne/Cuellar/Zabaleta/Cole
    Kagawa/Hazard/Noble/Michu/Kacaniklic
    Rvp/Tevez/Graham

I have doubts on playing time for Cole Kagawa and Rvp due to injury, and rotation risks on Zab and Kacaniklic, anyone have any insight on the chances of these players starting, in a nutshell will I be ok?

Zab should start and I will be surprised if RVP doesn't start. You're in a wee predicament but I would say there is a good chance you will have 11 players this weekend. I think you can afford to hold off but keep an eye on the latest news leading up to the deadline.

I suppose the RVP news only affects our captaincy decision. I doubt many people will be selling RVP as a result of a knock.

So would it be wise to consider captaining the likes of Cazorla or Hazard in anticipation that RVP may get subbed off early or may not even start the game. Better to be safe than sorry?

Tevez is always worth a shout as well. I'm very tempted to captain Cazorla simply because I believe Saints defence is a lot worse than Wigans defence. The image of United loosing at the DW last year is still fresh in my mind. With Kagawa out United might not find it that easy despite being at home.

Kagawa has done nothing to suggest he's going to be anything special for United. Not saying he doesn't have the potential to. And I hope so being a Utd fan, but that's how it is.

I am thinking about bringing Cazorla in for a hit, and if I do it should be to captain him. I like his prospect home to Southampton. But somehow I trust Tevez more, even away. Why is that?

This doubt over Van Persie is going to create quite the conundrum when it comes to who to captain, 24 hours ago it was a no-brainer, now it could cost you a fair few points if you risk it. Crazy. What are RVP owners thinking? Still captain him and hope everyone else does the same? Or take the safe route and captain Gorkss?

Seriously, this is a big problem. Assuming he plays, is he off, or does SAF treat him with kid gloves? If he can play, there is a big captain question, and I lean Tevez or, if I buy him in, Cazorla.

As a non-RVP owner, I don't know whether I feel good or bad about it. I was going to captain Tevez most likely, but now I suppose a lot more will do so and perhaps it will be less a differential...strange.

ye but this is slightly different, that was more rumours of Wenger resting him because of an easy game. This time round it's 'possible injury', 'possible resting for easier game' and 'possible rest in order to save him for champions league game', there's a few factors that make it feasible that Fergie might not take the risk of playing him. As far as I know with RVP/blackburn it was just people reading too much into Wenger's cryptic words and nothing to do with an injury. A bit harder to call this one imo.

Its an unfair comparison because we don't know how Rooney and RVP play together. Tevez and Aguero are Argentine team mates as well as club team mates, the complement each other nicely. So even as a United fan I would have to say A) but its a loaded question, there can only be one answer really.

Suggestion for the guys behind the scenes here at FFS, Save the captain's poll results you have so far and tomorrow start a new one to see what people's general feelings are and whether they have been altered by the news today. I think it would give you a more accurate estimation of people's preferred captaincy choice now in light of recent events.
