Sir Alex Ferguson has handed Fantasy managers a major boost this morning by revealing Robin Van Persie will be fit to face Wigan tomorrow afternoon. The Dutchman was subbed off at half-time by Louis Van Gaal in his nation’s 4-1 win over Hungary on Wednesday and with no official club statement, many had feared the worst.

Hardly known for his quick healing powers, Van Persie’s availability is of significant news this weekend, with a substantial majority expected to hand him the captaincy ahead of the Latics clash. With four goals in his first two starts for United, Van Persie has wasted little time in maintaining his outstanding scoring record in the Premier League and with Wayne Rooney still absent due to a thigh injury, Ferguson – like many of us – will be heavily reliant on his summer signing from Arsenal to continuing his scoring spree tomorrow.

Ferguson confirmed at this afternoon’s eagerly-awaited press conference:

On the injury front, everyone’s fit….You always have concerns about players travelling [long distances] in international breaks – we had Chicharito, Valencia and Kagawa. They’ve all done it before, although with Shinji we don’t know exactly how he reacts to travelling back from long distances. Hopefully he’ll be okay.

As the fixture schedule now starts to pick up, Ferguson certainly doesn’t need to take any unnecessary risks. United face Galatasaray at Old Trafford next Wednesday before embarking on a tricky run of league matches which sees them travel to (liv, new, che) and a certain degree of rotation up top can be expected, with the likes of Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez set to pick up more game time over the next few weeks. For now, though, Ferguson’s words have soothed us and offered plenty assurance – we can forge ahead with our Fantasy plans for the weekend with confidence renewed.

Lescott, Hangeland, Baines, Guthrie (Noble, McCartney)

    Do you guys agree?

i'd play noble over guthrie personally. both are allergic to shots but one is on pens, the other on fks, pens always wins that battle

Guthrie plays higher up, has scored 1 so far... Noble is a guaranteed 2 points. More inclined to gamble on guthrie against a shaky spurs

guthrie has had 1 shot all season, his goal, a shot which 99/100 would have been no goal. i think they're both the same but noble will get the odd cheap 5 pointer via a penalty so is worth it this week especially v norwich

Sorry guys the decision goes deeper than I first thought!

    Is a choice between:

    A) Davies, Clark, Pieenar + RVP

    or

    B) William, Hughes, Yaya + Torres

    Quick poll A or B?!!!!!!!

So we're approaching the last price changes of this seemingly unending international break.

Fastest risers today are Jenkinson, Hazard, Cazorla, Michu, Ivanovic, Torres, Tevez and Podolski.

I reckon Michu, Tevez, Jenkinson, Ivanovic and Podolski will rise from them. Outside chance for Hazard, Cazorla and Torres if there's acceleration.

Fastest fallers are Kagawa, Krul, Simpson, Cole, Bale, Raylor, Coloccini, Ba, Clichy and Silva.
At least Bale and Ade should fall.

        Target NTO: 9171
        Current NTO: 7688
Additional NTO required to fall: 1483

        Today's NTO: 1447 in 13 hours.
That's a rate of 111 transfers an hour.

15 hours remain til price changes. Extrapolating, that's 1665 additional NTO assuming no acceleration in transfers, which always happens.

Keep controlling. You have some possible sells in a few weeks when their fixtures toughen like Noble and Graham but doing them now would be a bit sideways. I'm giving Bale 2-3 more games, then Hazard is likely to be the replacement if he does nothing.

Double Fulham seems over the top and neither of them are sure of a starting place. Would wait on Dembele and see how he gets on before getting him in. I'd get Cazorla in instead of Valencia, his underlying stats (key passes, shots, shots on target etc.) are best for all the midfielders, even better than Hazard. I think Ivanovic is a bit pricey, see the Super Cup final for the fragility of the Chelsea defence. Verm and Baines are in range there, much better options imo. Not sure about double West Ham either, would look a different keeper over Jussi. Foster if you can afford 5m, if not maybe Ruddy?

I've had Ivanovic since day 1, so I got a nice raise there.

        Jussi/Bego
        Rafael/Ivano/Clyne/Demel/?
        Cazorla/HBA/Hazard/Morrison/Guthrie
        RVP/Tevez/?

Got 11.1m for 2 players there. Maybe Berba at 6.9?

Yeah Berba's potentially a good shout, though I do worry about Fulham a bit without Dembele and Demps. I also like Fletcher and Lambert in that price range but 4m defenders with a shout of a cleanie are hard to come by so maybe Lambert's the better option and a bit of a pricier defender there.

In midfield I do like Maloney - you could go HBA -> Maloney, and get Ba and Gibbs. Or switch Jussi to Szczesny (although he's not guaranteed a starting spot just yet, I reckon it's only a matter of time) and take another mid price defender like Hangeland or Ridgewell/McAuley/Olsson. Baines is worth a shout if you can find the funds, Everton's fixtures are pretty special for weeks to come.

    Please help with some advice:

I think even though RVP has tough fixtures I'd be foolish to not get him in now while it's barely affordable and he is Ut'd top stirker. In order to do this I would have to do:

    Ba to RVP
    Bale to Maloney/Sterling/Guthrie/Routledge
    De Gea to Begovic

I think RVP and Begovic are sound. But what about the midfielder. Have up to £5.9m to spend but would prefer a solid player with goal potential nearer £5m as I have good midfield already.

need to update your link to your team by the way.

I would say you can't go wrong with Maloney at £5m what with his attacking threat and also set pieces in the bag. Not scared to leave him on the bench most weeks, but at the same time if he comes off he's got a good chance of getting more than 2pts. Plus that leaves you some money to maybe get a better keeper than Begovic?

I always look at fixtures and Snodgrass has some toughies. Dyer (and Rout) I'll leave I think cos I have MIchu and Graham. Guthrie has tough fixtures too I see. Sterling is tempting as is cheap in first team and surely get an assist in coming weeks but plays very wide. Hmmm...

Maloney or even Matthew Taylor is tempting for next 6 fixture cover. I am a fan of Maloney though who seems to take pens and play up top. Good value for 5th mid.

wondering if they'll try and accommodate all 3. ruiz tip of a diamond behind berbatov and petric. duff, richardson and diarra at the base to complete the diamond.
jol is really talking up ruiz's creativity, will be interesting to see how fulham evolve next few weeks

          Daft moves IMO.

You have Podolski, so ignore Cazorla for now. Just sort out your defence, triple WHam defence.. WHAT. If you are going to triple on a defence at least pick 3 nailed on players.

If you want to triple on WHam defence go for Collins, Demel and Jussi. But you are mental IMO if you want to do that.

Cuellar, Hughes are good for 4.5M. But I would get them and downgrade Torres to get Baines etc in there..
