Gameweek four concludes tonight at Goodison Park, as Everton play host to Newcastle United. The Dugout Discussion opens to see two sides with high ambitions for the season tussle it out. The team news is in and is as follows…

Everton XI: Howard, Hibbert, Jagielka, Distin, Baines, Mirallas, Neville, Osman, Pienaar, Fellaini, Jelavic.

Newcastle XI: Harper, Perch, Williamson, S Taylor, Santon, Anita, Cabaye, Gutierrez, Marveaux, Ben Arfa, Cisse.

David Moyes makes two changes from the side that suffered defeat at the hands of West Brom in matchday three, with Tony Hibbert and Kevin Mirallas starting in place of Darron Gibson and Steven Naismith.

As for the visitors, Steve Harper replaces the injured Tim Krul, and James Perch and Mike Williamson patch up the defence in the absence of Danny Simpson and Fabricio Coloccini. Slyvain Marveaux is a surprise inclusion, as Demba Ba drops to the bench.

      what he means is he should have shown more composure. By swinging your boot at it you have no control over where the ball goes.

          Yeah, he's only really in there because they've got Ajax first up - I expect that game to be fairly high scoring. Plus he's on great form for Dortmund at the moment, virtually every goal they score he's involved in.

            Interesting about Kuba that, someone said he wasn't nailed on, I guess he is. I;d want a Milan attacker in there, could you downgrade Verm to Gibbs and upgrade Kombarov to Nocerino or KPB?

                Hulk shouldn't be the problem, it's Witsel who'll take a slot from one of Denisov-Fayzulin-Shirokov. Absolutely no idea who though, will have to investigate.

              Potentially. As mentioned below, if Gibbs does start I may downgrade Vermaelen to him and then change Kombarov - he's the one player I'm not overly keen on at the moment. But haven't really investigated potential bargains in midfield at that price bracket.

      One of the best teams I've seen on here. I'd be wary of Evra as Buttner will definitely get more games and with a tough fixture schedule in the league I can definitely see Fergie playing Buttner for a couple of games in Europe, despite last season's antics he won't able to resist a bit of rotation with that group.

        Yup, it's really hard to predict long term, but given Buttner played at the weekend you'd imagine Evra will play on Wednesday.

          Wednesday, should do unless there is some knock we're not fully aware of. United should rack up the clean sheets so I've gone for Vidic for the long-term security.

        haha, yeah. Admittedly half of the reasoning for having Vermaelen, Hazard and Cazorla is because they're in my FPL team too, so if they do again ever, I'll benefit! No issue of them doing it all in Europe when they're only in my FPL team!

      Evra has been on cruise control for at least 2 years now, his form has been patchy at best. His place has been under no threat since Heinze left, so complacency appeared to have set in. Buttner's arrival (as his debut performance) should hopefully serve as a reminder to him that he needs to up his game. His reaction to Buttner's goal appeared to indicate to him that he has a fight on his hands

    I captained Baines on a whim, Saturday morning. Didn't feel any of my forwards or midfielders were likely to have a great weekend. And boy, was I ever right. After scoring eye-wateringly few points on Saturday and Sunday, I feel rather like an alcoholic who, lying in a sea of empties, suddenly realizes there may be a bottle of whiskey on top of the wardrobe, but, as he rises wobble-legged to his feet and begins to clamber up the shelves, isn't sure if there's going to be anything in it...
