Having given our top ranking managers in the Fantasy Premier League game their fifteen minutes earlier this week, it’s now time to put the Sky Sports Fantasy Football game in focus. We check on our Scout League leaders, monitor the transfer trends and look to tonight’s episode of the Fantasy Football Club…

Scout League Standings

Paul Hennessy remains on top of the Scout League going into Gameweek 5. A Gameweek 4 tally of 63 points was enough to stretch his lead to 3 points, with Ben Salter back on the ascendency and sitting in second. Jonathan Lenharth and Niels Koopman retain their top five spots as they give chase to the top two.

Paul and Ben are second and third in the game overall, with Hennessy 14 points behind the leader in the tussle for the £25k first prize. A mention here for Scout Contributor, Andy, he’s currently sitting 12th in the Scout League and in 72nd spot overall: it’s nose bleed time for Goddard.

The Scout League remains on top in the League of Leagues, with almost an 18 point margin separating us from the league in second.

A reminder that if you’re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519.

Market Forces

Jermain Defoe is sitting on top of the most transferred in ranks for this week, with 5.3% of transfers involving the Spurs striker – a reaction to his two-goal salvo at Reading on Sunday which helped him to a 16-point haul. Eden Hazard remains a popular target, despite drawing a blank at Loftus Road, he has taken up 4.9% of transfers in this week, with Arsenal pairing Carl Jenkinson and Santi Cazorla also seeing 3.7% and 3.5% respectively.

Interestingly, it’s Robin Van Persie who tops the transfers out over the last seven days, a direct result of him being benched for the drubbing of Wigan last weekend. Having been the most popular captain going into the Gameweek, Van Persie was transferred out in 5.7% of the deals made this week. Carlos Tevez, despite notching the assist in the stalemate at Stoke, has been the next most ousted player – no doubt to make way for the likes of Defoe in many a lineup. Tevez has been sold in 3.3% of the transfer deals this week.

Both Van Persie and Tevez remain mainstays in many squads, however, with Van Persie currently skippered by over 18% of Sky Sports managers going into the weekend. At present, Tevez is claiming 9% of the captaincies with Eden Hazard sandwiched between this pair on 10.7%.

Incredibly, despite top scoring with 17 points last weekend, Dimitar Berbatov remains on just 1.9% ownership at the time of writing.

The Fantasy Football Club – 10pm Tonight

Everton legend, Neville Southall, is shuffling into the Fantasy Football Club dressing room tonight to no doubt reminensce about his glorious Goodison days. He’s joined by boxer Tony Bellew, while Norwich stopper, John Ruddy, will be on the studio hotline with Fenners and Merse ahead of his trip to Newcastle. Listen out for this week’s tips from the “ITK” – in case you missed it, last week he delivered on Brad Guzan, Rafael and Dimitar Berbatov.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

In fairness he was a class goalie. I had him in my fantasy football team in 95/96 for a while until I realised Everton were crap defensively. He'd have done well if there were save points back then.

    Dyer, Hazard, Michu, Yaya, Maloney
    Tevez, RVP (Graham)

0.9 in the bank and 1 FT.

A: Should I bench Graham, save the FT and transfer him out next week along with someone else to get Berba in? If so, who should I transfer out along with Graham?

B: Should I do it now and take a 4 point hit?

Got caught at the end of the last article!

I was tempted to downgrade Cazorla to Gervinho until I read this:

Santia Cazorla – completed 38 of 45 attacking-third passes against Southampton, almost twice as many as any other participant – has created 18 goalscoring chances for his teammates this season: more than any other Premier League player.

    2. Keeping Adam Johnson in the hope that he starts , is there any news on his availability? -If doesnt play will have Distin Demel or Clark to come in who ever i select on bench prob hughes
    3. Santi Carzola? Is he gonna get us points or is it worth starting all defenders mentioned above my defenders and benching Santi for this GW?

Annoyingly undecided about what to do with Graham. I could do a straight swap for Berb for a hit, or I could just risk Guthrie coming in as cover.

Would normally just make the transfer but would mean I can't get Baines next week.

    Any advice?

Not worth the risk with Fulham being away. Does everyone honestly think Berba will get anymore then a solitary goal at most? Your hit would be your points barring the 1/2 for gametime (and a POSSIBLE bonus, again, unlikely away to Wigan). Fulham are knocked up and Wigan are usually solid at home and I fancy a big Wigan win here.

Can't you bring in a mid off your bench? That or use your free on another 6m forward such as Lambert or Long? I have brought in Long for Graham myself and am in the EXACT same situation. I have 2 FTs so used one for Long in graham out...and somehow will figure out who to change/drop to get Baines in next week (although already have Pienaar).

Cheers for the decent explanation. I agree that Berba is unlikely to get a huge amount, especially having seen Fulham at West Ham a couple of weeks ago.

I can play Guthrie instead to get the appearance points so that would be the conservative thing to do. I've already used my free for DDG - Foster so any change would be for a hit.

No Everton coverage is my main thought for next week so does make sense to save the cash to get Baines in for no hit.

I think you may have convinced me for now (until I see Berb in the scout picks tonight).

    Jaaskelainen (De Gea)
    Williams, Ramis, Ridgewell (Mertesacker, Tomkins)
    Hazard, Y.Toure, Cazorla, Michu (Diarra)
    Torres, Graham, Tevez

My question is, with the Swansea doubts, Williams and Graham, should I wild card to replace them and take out the players that are not playing like Tomkins and Diarra?

Absolutely not worth wildcarding to change your 5th def and mid and a couple of injury doubts to cheap players.

I think it may be his position to lose but at 4.0 I think its worth the risk to get into the Swansea defense

I know it's tough so... first to 3 wins.

    Who to bench this GW:

    a) Maloney (vs FUL)
    b) Nolan (vs SUN)
    c) Michu (vs EVE)
    d) Cazorla (vs mci)
    e) Berbatov (vs wig)

i love the optimism about kagawa startin in the team news section. Really think he'll do well this week and kickstart his own bandwagon again. Played brilliant midweek.. Ppl sayin he aint a fantasy player, but havin watched him he is'nt a modric type player as ppl state on here

The significant difference being Kagawa is a goalscorer and really attacking, it will translate into FPL points soon.

    im wildcarding gents,

looking for 5.0 and below defender thoughts on...

    nelsen at 3.9?
gallas at 5.0? naughton at 4.4?
    Figeuroa at 4.5?
    lowton at 4.5?
    meatysack at 5.1?

not looking for WBA/FUL/WHM defenders - have them. seems to be a real dearth of options here i reckon. any of these make good sense to you?

All of those are good options I reckon, which one depends on how much you're gonna play them. If they'll rarely play I'd go Nelsen, if you have to play them most weeks I'd go Merter. Naughton if you don't mind getting rid in a few weeks and Lowton if you want a decent value occasional start.

Nothing to suggest Kosc is getting a look in is there? They're keeping clean sheets and playing well so can't see why Wenger would change it.

I have zab and Evra and want to get Ridgewell this week. If Evra has already dropped and Zab is going to drop does it make sense to transfer out Zab? Am banking on fact that Evra will play against Man U and keep a CS but if he doesn't it's no big loss.
