Having given our top ranking managers in the Fantasy Premier League game their fifteen minutes earlier this week, it’s now time to put the Sky Sports Fantasy Football game in focus. We check on our Scout League leaders, monitor the transfer trends and look to tonight’s episode of the Fantasy Football Club…

Scout League Standings

Paul Hennessy remains on top of the Scout League going into Gameweek 5. A Gameweek 4 tally of 63 points was enough to stretch his lead to 3 points, with Ben Salter back on the ascendency and sitting in second. Jonathan Lenharth and Niels Koopman retain their top five spots as they give chase to the top two.

Paul and Ben are second and third in the game overall, with Hennessy 14 points behind the leader in the tussle for the £25k first prize. A mention here for Scout Contributor, Andy, he’s currently sitting 12th in the Scout League and in 72nd spot overall: it’s nose bleed time for Goddard.

The Scout League remains on top in the League of Leagues, with almost an 18 point margin separating us from the league in second.

A reminder that if you’re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519.

Market Forces

Jermain Defoe is sitting on top of the most transferred in ranks for this week, with 5.3% of transfers involving the Spurs striker – a reaction to his two-goal salvo at Reading on Sunday which helped him to a 16-point haul. Eden Hazard remains a popular target, despite drawing a blank at Loftus Road, he has taken up 4.9% of transfers in this week, with Arsenal pairing Carl Jenkinson and Santi Cazorla also seeing 3.7% and 3.5% respectively.

Interestingly, it’s Robin Van Persie who tops the transfers out over the last seven days, a direct result of him being benched for the drubbing of Wigan last weekend. Having been the most popular captain going into the Gameweek, Van Persie was transferred out in 5.7% of the deals made this week. Carlos Tevez, despite notching the assist in the stalemate at Stoke, has been the next most ousted player – no doubt to make way for the likes of Defoe in many a lineup. Tevez has been sold in 3.3% of the transfer deals this week.

Both Van Persie and Tevez remain mainstays in many squads, however, with Van Persie currently skippered by over 18% of Sky Sports managers going into the weekend. At present, Tevez is claiming 9% of the captaincies with Eden Hazard sandwiched between this pair on 10.7%.

Incredibly, despite top scoring with 17 points last weekend, Dimitar Berbatov remains on just 1.9% ownership at the time of writing.

The Fantasy Football Club – 10pm Tonight

Everton legend, Neville Southall, is shuffling into the Fantasy Football Club dressing room tonight to no doubt reminensce about his glorious Goodison days. He’s joined by boxer Tony Bellew, while Norwich stopper, John Ruddy, will be on the studio hotline with Fenners and Merse ahead of his trip to Newcastle. Listen out for this week’s tips from the “ITK” – in case you missed it, last week he delivered on Brad Guzan, Rafael and Dimitar Berbatov.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Just about to pull the trigger on Zabaleta > Ridgewell allowing me to do Graham > Fletcher/Berbatov next week. I have Cuellar + Fabio so that will only leave me an active back 3 of Ivanovic Ridgewell Clyne.

    Should I still do this?

He will but Ridgewell (h) to Reading is a nice fixture plus I need to get Ridgewell in before he goes up to £5.1m and this also frees up the exact money to get Fletcher or Berbatov.

Could u end up still short if both those go up tonight?
Think ridge is better option than zab. By end of season there will only be couple of cs between them and ridge has more cance of goals and assists

You have a point, but I hope you are simply referring to the fact that Zab will be rotated throughout the season, and not that you honestly think City and West Brom will end with about the same amount of cs'??? 🙂

City can have 10 more CS than wba but that doesn't count for much when Zaba only plays in half of them and you are scratching your head wondering if Mancini is going to play Zab or Maicon or even Richards later on. It just doesn't work from a FF perspective.

Plus Ridgewell bosses Zabaleta for goal threat and bps potential 🙂

I finally got in and made changes yet my scores indicate that automatic substitutions have been used yet I made manual subs to bring Messi in as captain among others. I'm waiting for an email reply.

I'm likely to play Lescott this weekend at the moment but was going to get in Baines straight away next week...do you think there's a decent argument for bringing in Baines for a 4 point hit right now? Lescott may not start and if I'm going to go for Baines anyway...is it worth the hit?

Do ppl just look at the player and previous stats and get them in and not consider how the actual match gonna turn out? for eg..
Wigan @ home have improved. I can see their midfield overrunnin Fulham's midfield and i cant see Berbatov gettin much supply. that bein said he may get 2 chances and score 2 goals. but thinkin of Fulham runnin around the park in their away kit tryin to win the ball does'nt breed much confidence into a Berbs punt this week

Shame there's no "notes" in FPL any more. I used to plan my transfers in there. Better than writing them on a piece of paper at home if you're at school or work or something 🙁

Sorry if this a bit of a noob question, but could someone explain to me what this means.......

    http://development.totalfpl.com/pricechanges

....And how you use to determine who's price is going to go up/down?

NTI means net transfers in. The bar on the right indicated how close a player is to a rise/fall. e.g. Berba has more than enough net transfers in to rise tonight (usually shortly after midnight).

Just loaded the new FPL app on to my iPad and pretty decent tbh. Very handy for game day and tinkering when I'm not on the laptop. Think they could have polished up the presentation a little bit but worth it for the fantasy addicts that reside on this board lol

It feels weird not making a transfer but I think I'm happy with my team as it is:

    Jaaskelainen
    Rangel/Baines/Clyne
    Yaya/Hazard(c)/Santi/Michu
    Lambert/Tevez(v)/Van Persie

    Begovic/Demel/El Ahmadi/Jenkinson

    Any thoughts?

How did you anage to get El Ahmadi?!! Rest is fine. I'd probably ship Rangel for Ridgewell this week if you have a FT to spare - Swans backline is a mess.

    Team:
    Friedel Federici
    Fonte McCartney Clichy Rangel Boyce
    Kagawa Hazard Bale Dyer Noble
    RvP Tevez Pogrebnyak

    Two free transfers.

    Considering:
    1) Kagawa and Clichy to Morrison and Baines
    or
    2) Kagawa, Clichy, Pogrebnyak to Sterling, Baines and Berbatov (4 point hit)

    thoughts?

    Afternoon all

About to head off for a long weekend so need to make final changes.

At the moment i have Fed, evra, zab and Graham in my team. Was thinking of:

    1. Evra/Zab-----Ridgewell
    2. Graham----Ba/Defoe
    3. Either evra/zab and Graham for a 4ph

    Many thanks!

that will save the most money but my defence is generally bad:

        Fed, Jussi
        Evra, Zab, Hang, Shawx, Ivan
        Michu, Guthrie, Carloza, yaya, Pienaar
        Tevez, Torres, Graham

No real captain material which is why am considering a hit for Ba/Defoe.
