Featured in the forthcoming Channel Five fly on the wall documentary about Liverpool FC is a severe dressing down for teenage winger Raheem Sterling from manager Brendan Rodgers.

Fantasy managers would have been forgiven for thinking that Sterling’s first team chances would be limited after he dared to muttered ‘steady’ under his breath during one of Rodgers’ team talks. Turns out the incident was something of a red herring – Rodgers not only appears to have forgiven the 17-year-old, but rates him so highly that Sterling has managed 90 minutes in each of Liverpool’s last three matches.

After a disappointing end to the summer transfer window, which saw the Reds fail to land chief target Clint Dempsey and wave goodbye to Andy Carroll on loan, Sterling appears to have very little competition on the flanks. Fellow winger Stewart Downing is falling so far out of favour Rodgers wants to convert him to left back and new recruit Oussama Assaidi still needs time to adjust to the English game.

Rodgers appears so convinced of Sterling’s ability that he is also prepared to play him on either wing, as one of the key players to feed central striker Luis Suarez. While against Manchester City and Arsenal he was deployed mainly on the left wing, a switch to the right against Sunderland in Gameweek 4 increased his potential further, with Sterling producing an assist for the Uruguayan during the 1-1 draw.

England manager Roy Hodgson is also impressed. After the former Queen’s Park Rangers academy player’s recent run in Liverpool’s first team, he was swiftly promoted from the England Under19s to the full England squad earlier this month.

Priced initially at 4.5m in the FPL game and 4.3m in the Sky Sports game, he is arguably the pick of the cheap midfielders on offer. Sterling’s cost, however, is set to rise as he continues to cement a wide role, with expectations high on the back of his Black Cats’ performance. Already 17,598 managers have transferred him in this Gameweek in the FPL game, which has seen his price rise to 4.6m.

His emergence as a Fantasy prospect also coincides with a turn in fixtures for Liverpool over the next six game weeks. While this weekend’s home showdown with United may deter many, history shows that it may turn out to be profitable for the Merseysiders. Sir Alex Ferguson’s side have not won at Anfield in the league for the last four seasons, with Liverpool registering eight goals to Manchester United’s three in the fixture since 2008/9. With (nor, STO, REA, eve, NEW) to follow, Sterling could well be set for a prosperous next few weeks as he looks to justify his manager’s show of faith.

On WC, want Santi in but not for the next 2 games. Who to replace him temporarily? Have HBA and Hazard.

Let me know what you think. Considering taking out Ashley Williams, who's the best replacement out of this lot?

Bertrand (Chelsea), Olsson/Ridgewell (WBA), Lowton/Clark (Villa), Hughes (Fulham)

If have no WBA defensive coverage id say Olsson/Ridgewell for sure. Out of the two I've been told Ridgewell has more of a goal threat, but Olsson is more nailed on.

If already ready have WBA coverage at the back and no fulham, i'd go Hughes. decent deal there

    I have a Front 8 of

Hazard (STO) Kagawa (liv) Pienaar (swa) Maloney (FUL) Noble (SUN)
RVP (liv) Tevez (ARS) Graham (EVE).

Currently have Graham on bench as he is a doubt, is that the right move?? I hate putting strikers on the bench usually, especially in an early kick off

    B - Baines (-4)

If Zabaleta drops or Baines rises, I won't have the money to make the move..

HBA Michu Cazorla Hazard Tevez Berb
      Also have Torres

      - Go with HBA for differential.
      - Berba might work too but Fulham away form poor.
      - Can Swans deliver against strong Everton?
      - RvP will score at least 1 goal
      - Tevez, Hazard - will they start or come on at 65 mins?

Was thinking of doing vidic, zaba and Pog to baines, cheapie and berb next week for a 4pt hit, maybe waiting til the week after and doing it for free.

My question is, do I take the 4 pt hit tonight and do zab and Pog to cheapie and berb, in order to save money due to price rises? Not a lot of money to spare.

    Afternoon all.

Had a look at team news but would appreciate your considered opinions on the following:

What's the likelihood of De Gea and Zabaleta starting this week?

Reasonably happy with my front 8 but my defence/GK's are shot to sh#t! Already made my free transfer this week but definately looking at a 4pt hit, possibly 8 to sort things out.

    Thanks.

presuming your other goalie is a non starter I'd take DDG out asap, he might play this week or not ,basically i think nobody knows and with what fergie said about rotating him, I'd move him, to hit or not to hit is the question,
he played well during the week so fergie may play him against Liv, wait and see closer to the deadline for indicators/press conference cos he may just play and you've a hit for no reason.

      after this Gw defo out

Thanks all. It's a rotation risk/injury nightmare. I'm in a right old mess but not enough to warrant wildcarding. Couple of transfers would sort things out but 8pts is a lot to concede before the GW has even started.....

Is it worth a 4pt hit for this:

    Yaya > Pienaar
    Pogrebnyak > Berbatov

It'll leave me with 0.0 in the bank.

    my captaincy dilemma

    bale or haz

Im leaning towards hazard , because he has done well in the 2 home games so far and seems to be a good flat track bully and appears to be involved in most of chelsea's goals.

Bale did score last week though and can be streaky?

Tough captain choice this week..was originally on Hazard but rumblings of rotation have made me shaky (like pretty much everyone else got stung by RVP last week).

Since I brought berb in for a hit thought I'd go all out and captain him.
    Good call?

      Foster
      Zabaleta Ivanovic Demel
      Bale Kagawa Dyer Noble
      RVP (c) Tevez Graham

      (Henderson, Hughes, N'Zogbia, Cuellar).
