Luis Suarez isn’t everyone’s favourite player. Impromptu goalkeeping, the Patrice Evra incident and a baffling vendetta against woodwork comprise the newsworthy misadventures of a man equally distinguished by his managers’ favour and the public contempt. But whilst his unequivocal admirers might be restricted to the Kop and the carpentry trade, Fantasy managers can ill afford to be too picky with their heroes in a game that measures virtue purely in terms of points.

A stuttering start to the season can be excused in a team unsettled by a wearying saga of tactical and managerial revolutions on Merseyside, and if the optimism that attended Brendan Rodgers’ arrival has been somewhat subdued by Liverpool’s unflattering league position, strong performances against Sunderland and United in recent weeks suggest that the tide is turning.

In terms of shots on target and chances created over the last two weeks Liverpool are in the Champions League spots, and whilst new acquisition Joe Allen and youth team graduate Raheem Sterling have gelled seamlessly in Rogers’ favoured 4-3-3, the comparatively innocuous exploits of Fabio Borini only serve to cement Suarez’s role as the indispensable spearhead of the Liverpool attack.

Whilst Steven Fletcher, Dimitar Berbatov and Ricky Lambert have hogged the headlines and cast an understandable shade over Suarez’s recent performances, that darkness may provide a propitious advantage to those Fantasy managers armed with the sober and impartial light of OPTA stats. Indeed, Suarez has eclipsed his acclaimed competitors in several key areas, and whilst he shows no inclination to forfeit his post-hitting pre-eminence, his threat stats augur an imminent improvement of his already-respectable tally of two goals in five games.

Norwich’s combative home form could present a potential banana skin to Liverpool’s attacking aspirations next weekend, but their work-in-progress defence remains susceptible to breach and Suarez’s guile and energy will furnish a stern test – last season’s Carrow Road hat-trick, capped by a memorable 45-yard effort, stands testament to the Uruguayan’s capabilities. Back-to-back home games against a winless Stoke and an incontinent Reading then serve to complete a tempting trio of ties that should provide Rodgers’ resurgent Reds ample opportunity to jump start their campaign.

With the threat of rest and rotation now haunting the footsteps of the hitherto hegemonic Carlos Tevez and Robin Van Persie, Suarez’s comparative security becomes a conspicuous asset and, priced at 9.4 in the Fantasy Premier League and 9.6 in the Sky Sports game, canny investors may be set to reap rewards from Luis’ forthcoming weekends.

I like the Tevez-> Suarez transfer, not because of the article, pulled the trigger last night. Suarez is guaranteed pretty much 90 minutes for the next 3 gameweeks versus NOR, STO, RDG. I agree he can't finish his dinner but with so many shots on target this season he does seem due a big week, his creativity stats are far better than the alternatives also (Ba Fletcher Berbs)

I believe some of you experts can predict, quite accurately, when a player is due a hike or drop. How can I join your club ? I can see the net transfers column in the history section t/w, obviously, the transfers in & out for the round. How does one do the maths from hereon in ?

hazard to fellani (chelsea fixtures not great and champions league rotation)
defoe to suarez (suarez has 3 decent games in a row)
tevez to aguero (augero will be number one, tevez rested then will play vs dortmund)

8 point hit (ouch).. but will pay for itself i suspect.

suarez, aguero good differentials given the fixtures, but will lose alot of money on tevez and hazard.

If I don't get at least 15 points from my 3 Everton players this weekend I'll consider that a loss.

this is what is stopping me going for Fellaini to add to Pienaar and Baines. Far too many sphericalish white lumps in a whicker receptical for my liking.

I tink I may take both Fellaini and Pienaar on my WC and seel the looser for Bale next week. That ought to motivate them!

This Tevez saga may be looked like this also.
He plays 135 mins for weekend and yesterday but Dzeko and Balloteli also played 125 and115 mins. Dzeko to play against Dortmund with Aguero is preaty good choice bacause he played in German football and knows them very well.... So he might be rested against Fulham.... So, Aguero and Tevez starts and if result be ok after hour maybe Balloo take a play instead of Aguero......
I dony have cristal ball just....something to think about....

No way. Against Dortmund it's Tevez and Aguero, that I'm sure about.

Yeah, I reckon it'll be him and Hernandez to start with. Henriquez as a sub, probably.
Welbeck might be needed on the left wing for the weekend.

Not sure what team United will put out tonight but i'll guess anyway.

      DDG

      Vermijl Wooton Keane Buttner

      Lingard Fletcher Powell Brady

      Welbeck Hernandez

Brady because if the DM's prognosis of Valencia is true, then Nani's our only fit winger so no need to risk him. Same reason for Wooton and Keane over Evans/Rio. Less sure on who'll start upfront as it could easily be Macheda/Henriquez too...

Think Newcastle will put out a much weakened team too so it should be competitive.

That is about right, but I think there will be Clev or Giggs in there to help control the midfield and Powell pushed further forward- Larnell Cole could be on one of the wings too.
