Luis Suarez isn’t everyone’s favourite player. Impromptu goalkeeping, the Patrice Evra incident and a baffling vendetta against woodwork comprise the newsworthy misadventures of a man equally distinguished by his managers’ favour and the public contempt. But whilst his unequivocal admirers might be restricted to the Kop and the carpentry trade, Fantasy managers can ill afford to be too picky with their heroes in a game that measures virtue purely in terms of points.

A stuttering start to the season can be excused in a team unsettled by a wearying saga of tactical and managerial revolutions on Merseyside, and if the optimism that attended Brendan Rodgers’ arrival has been somewhat subdued by Liverpool’s unflattering league position, strong performances against Sunderland and United in recent weeks suggest that the tide is turning.

In terms of shots on target and chances created over the last two weeks Liverpool are in the Champions League spots, and whilst new acquisition Joe Allen and youth team graduate Raheem Sterling have gelled seamlessly in Rogers’ favoured 4-3-3, the comparatively innocuous exploits of Fabio Borini only serve to cement Suarez’s role as the indispensable spearhead of the Liverpool attack.

Whilst Steven Fletcher, Dimitar Berbatov and Ricky Lambert have hogged the headlines and cast an understandable shade over Suarez’s recent performances, that darkness may provide a propitious advantage to those Fantasy managers armed with the sober and impartial light of OPTA stats. Indeed, Suarez has eclipsed his acclaimed competitors in several key areas, and whilst he shows no inclination to forfeit his post-hitting pre-eminence, his threat stats augur an imminent improvement of his already-respectable tally of two goals in five games.

Norwich’s combative home form could present a potential banana skin to Liverpool’s attacking aspirations next weekend, but their work-in-progress defence remains susceptible to breach and Suarez’s guile and energy will furnish a stern test – last season’s Carrow Road hat-trick, capped by a memorable 45-yard effort, stands testament to the Uruguayan’s capabilities. Back-to-back home games against a winless Stoke and an incontinent Reading then serve to complete a tempting trio of ties that should provide Rodgers’ resurgent Reds ample opportunity to jump start their campaign.

With the threat of rest and rotation now haunting the footsteps of the hitherto hegemonic Carlos Tevez and Robin Van Persie, Suarez’s comparative security becomes a conspicuous asset and, priced at 9.4 in the Fantasy Premier League and 9.6 in the Sky Sports game, canny investors may be set to reap rewards from Luis’ forthcoming weekends.

    One last Tevez mention.

He was taken off against Stoke on the hour to rest him for the champions league tie 3 days later.

    Just saying.

Or does it mean that Mankini is over-cautious with CL rest after last season? 120 mins this week is too much already so he won't play at all on Sat.

I've decided not to care anymore.

Even if he doesn't play this weekend, is that a valid reason to sell him? Costs a transfer, and if you want to get him back that's another transfer plus 0.4m.

      I don't think any top 4 strikers are rotation-proof.

Thing is if you wanted him back at any stage you can just get Aguero. Shouldn't be that hard to generate the extra cash needed over the next couple of weeks as long as you plan ahead. There surely can't be much argument that Aguero is top of the pecking order. Of course how that affects his PL minutes is another argument entirely!

I suppose he is top of the pecking order, but there can't be much in it. This is the first season they've both been at the club when Tevez hasn't been out of favour for one reason or another, so it's pretty hard to say for certain.

Tevez playing in the CC is a pretty big hint, I suppose...

You`re forgetting that Aguero was injured then. He`s not now. Besides, Dortmund @ Ethihad is a much easier fixture that Real away. Not to say that Dortmund is an easy game by any means, but still.

Logic would suggest Begovic surely. Let me look at the clean sheet odds, one minute...

Stoke are 2.4 for a clean sheet and WBA are 3.6 according to Paddy. Sounds about right to me.

FYI the 3 favourites for a clean sheet this week are: Everton @ 2.1 and then United and Stoke both @ 2.4

Thoughts on a front 3 of Lambert Ba and RVP?

Is having Puncheon in mid too much of a gamble?
    Jussy Bego
Demel Clyne Baines A Cole McAuley
    Santi Yaya Piennaar Puncheon HBA
    Lambert Ba RVP
Enough cash left to change Lambert to Berb or Fletcher (even if they rise in price).

    or

    Jaask + 4.5m defender

The defender will be my 5th choice, so will be benched most of the time, but I would quite like to use him to cover when some of my forwards have bad fixtures

Other keeper will be begovic, so both are strong rotations

      A.

What do you do when you get conflicting answers? You seem to submit every single decision about your team to a public decision. If the public has no clear answer what do you do? If you are capable of independent decision-making then might I suggest you indulge in it more frequently and spare us, at least, consecutive posts?

    Foster

    Baines Cuellar Davies

    Morrison Pienaar Hazard Michu

    Aguero Fletcher VP

    Bench: Cerny, Maloney Hangeland Gorkss

I know Cuellar is injured but if he doesn't play Hangeland will just hop in. I really really doubt Cuellar will make a cameo appearance.
