For a second week in a row, our Flutter ambitions were denied at the finishing line. Keving Nolan made his anytime goal, but The Hammers failed to keep Steven Fletcher at bay, whilst an on-fire Eden Hazard was seemingly doused by visitors Stoke City, even though The Blues back-line held firm for the cleanie. We’ve still a couple of tenners profit to play with, but as Paddy starts chipping away at our initial success, we need another decent ride or two to keep our noses in front…

Usually last out of the stalls, our new “Goal-Assist-Cleanie treble” is this weeks front-runner. Robin Van Persie’s hunger for goals has not been dampened by his summer transfer and makes up the first leg of our treble. Our second leg, the assist, comes from the rejuvenated Steven Pienaar. A bit-part player for Spurs, Moyes has made him pivotal to his Everton unit and he’s replied with a goal and three assists so far this term; we fancy him against the visiting Saints. A Sunderland clean-sheet makes up our final leg, and with four low scoring, hard-fought draws so far this season, we feel there’s a good chance of Martin O’Neill’s side keeping out visiting Wigan. Paddy are offering 20/1 for the treble on a Van Persie goal, Pienaar assist and Sunderland clean sheet, and we’re going with a “no guts, no glory” approach with this, throwing £5 on it to try and win £100.

While Pienaar has been on fire this term, it’s been Maouane Fellaini who has been simply irresistible. He’s dominated all but one of the five league games the Toffees have played so far, strong-arming players off the ball and terrorising opponents with his height and technique. If that wasn’t enough, he’s made his mark on the scoresheet, netting three in five. We’re hoping he’ll add to that this week by taking £2 on him to score and Everton to keep a cleanie against Southampton at 4/1.

As we’ve mentioned, Steven Fletcher spoiled our double last week by putting one passed Jussi Jasskelainen at the Boleyn. We’re hopefully turning villain into hero this time around as Fletcher is priced up to score and Sunderland to get a cleanie against Wigan at 9/2. He’s scored ALL of Sunderland’s goals this season so far, so this is a bet we really fancy. As we’ve gone for big risk big reward early on in the Flutter, we’ve only £2 to offer, but considering his scoring record we’re favouring this as our banker.

Last up is the tricky playmaker Santi Carzorla. Arsenal were initially a bit slow to get going but they’ve certainly built up momentum in recent weeks. A 6-1 win in the Capital One cup midweek and a similar scoreline against Southampton two gameweeks past has dispelled fears that without Van Persie, the goals would dry up. Carzorla’s managed three assists and a goal in the league and looks poised to maintain that rate. Paddy are dangling 11/1 for a Cazorla goal and a cleanie against league leaders Chelsea and we’ll have our final quid on that.

Tripling up on Everton might be great today, long term maybe not so.But to be fair those 3 + Fellaini will bag most of the Everton points this season, so it could be worse..but spreading points is always wise.

I've gone for the triple but am prepared to ditch an Evertonian next week to keep it 2 players. Having 3 Swansea players has worked well till last week, but as Olelole says it's usually best to have broader cover.

    Guys! I need YOUR opinion.

Is Tevez out for Jelavic for a hit worth doing?
If I keep Tevez, I will be stuck with both him and Graham over the next few GWs.
If I downgrade Tevez to Jelavic, then I will be able to upgrade Graham to Lambert/Berbatov in the near future.
    So? Keep or kick?

Fun fact: Out of the 3 hits I've taken this season, each player that was transferred out for a hit went on to score double figures that GW (Torres in GW 2, Cathorla in GW 3 and Bale in GW 4).

Tough one, I'm in the 'keep Tevez' camp, but it does allow you to ditch Graham for LamBerba...

How does waiting a week and getting Podolski sound? Not sure if it's worth a hit to treble up on Everton (assuming you have Baines and Fellaini/Pienaar)
