Robin Van Persie bags a brace as United recover from a sluggish start to register their second Champions League win in succession. Juan Mata is the chief protagonist for Chelsea as the champions cruise to a 4-0 away win in Denmark. Elsewhere, Jose Enrique admits he’s been suffering from a knee problem all season, Arsene Wenger is sweating on the fitness of Mikel Arteta, while Darren Bent is looking to hold talks with Paul Lambert after being dropped last weekend:

FC Nordsjaelland 0 Chelsea 4
Juan Mata’s return to form shows little sign of abating as he once again proved the main man for the defending champions. The Spaniard – who has had a hand in all three of Chelsea’s goals in the last two league matches – bagged a brace last night, while David Luiz and Ramires grabbed the other strikes, with Oscar supplying the assist for the latter. Roberto Di Matteo made just two changes from the side that won at Arsenal on Saturday, with Frank Lampard replacing John Obi Mikel in the double pivot and Victor Moses coming in for Eden Hazard in the attacking midfield three – the Belgian was afforded a second-half sub appearance just after the hour mark.

CFR Cluj 1 Man United 2
Sir Alex Ferguson named Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie in the same starting line-up for the first time this season, as Shinji Kagawa dropped to the bench. The pair hinted at a burgeoning understanding up front, with Rooney – playing in “the hole” in a 4-3-1-2 – setting up the Dutchman for both his side’s goals as the visitors came back from a goal down to triumph. The United boss named the same back-four that lost to Spurs at the weekend, with David De Gea replacing Anders Lindegaard in goal, while Michael Carrick and Ryan Giggs both missed out due to illness. Darren Fletcher, Anderson and Javier Hernandez were also amongst the starters, though Antonio Valencia continues to be sidelined with an ankle problem picked up in the Gameweek 5 win at Liverpool.

Post-match, Ferguson revealed Jonny Evans could be a doubt for the weekend trip to Newcastle. The centre-half was subbed off late on in the game after suffering a recurrence of the dead leg he picked up against Spurs last Saturday – his absence could hand Scott Wootton a chance alongside Rio Ferdinand, with United’s injury situation at the back going from bad to worse right now.

In Other News
Jose Enrique has revealed he has been struggling with a knee problem all season. The left-back spoke of his problems yesterday:

“I don’t know quite what the problem is but I have been playing with a lot of pain. I had an injection in my knee so hopefully that will settle it down and allow me to find my form again because it is difficult playing with pain. It is something behind my knee and I have had to be very careful with it. I’ve been trying to play with it but it is not 100 per cent. I felt it in training before the opening day of the season at West Brom and since then it has been very bad. Hopefully the injection will sort it out.”

Enrique has featured just twice in the league this season under Brendan Rodgers, with Glen Johnson moved over from his usual right-back berth to cover in the Spaniard’s absence. With Martin Kelly out injured for the foreseeable future due to knee ligament damage, Enrique was expected to return to the starting line-up for the trip to Norwich last Saturday but Rodgers handed 19-year-old Andre Wisdom the chance to shine at Carrow Road instead. Priced at a mere 4.5 in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), the youngster made a strong impression on his manager in the Reds’ recent Europa League win over Young Boys, grabbing a goal in the 5-3 win, and the new boss talked up Wisdom’s prospects ahead of a couple of home league games against Stoke and Reading:

“When I came in, Andre Wisdom had been playing a lot at centre-half but he has the physical and technical capacity to play full-back. The modern day full-back has a lot of the ball and he has got to have strength, pace and power. Andre has that.”

Arsene Wenger has confirmed he is sweating on the fitness of Mikel Arteta ahead of this evening’s Champions League home match with Olympiakos. The midfielder missed training yesterday, with his manager revealing:

“Arteta will have a test tomorrow morning. We will make the decision then whether we include him in the squad or not. He has an ankle injury.”

With the Arsenal boss confirming Abou Diaby will be out for three weeks with a thigh injury, Wenger doesn’t have his problems to seek in the centre of the park right now. While Jack Wilshere came through 63 minutes of an Under 21 match earlier this week, Wenger has no intentions of rushing the youngster back after a 14-month absence and Arteta’s presence will be vital for this weekend’s trip to West Ham. A combination of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Aaron Ramsey or Francis Coquelin looks on the cards for Upton Park should Arteta also fail to make it.

Darren Bent has admitted he is far from happy with Villa boss Paul Lambert after being dropped for last Sunday’s draw with West Brom. The forward, who climbed off the bench to notch a late equaliser, went on to say:

“I can’t remember the last time I was left out. I only found out when the gaffer read the team sheet out. I didn’t know. It is frustrating and disappointing. All I can keep doing is what I did against West Brom – to come on and try to notch goals and go from there. I’ve not spoken to the manager at all about why he left me out. I’m sure we’ll probably speak next week. You are always frustrated when you are not playing games, and the way I found out I wasn’t playing.”

Bent, who had produced attacking returns in each of the two Gameweeks prior to the Baggies clash, has also lost the club captaincy to Ron Vlaar in the past couple of weeks. With Gabby Agbonlahor bagging a brace in the Capital One Cup win at City in midweek, Lambert partnered the latter with Christian Benteke for the midlands derby but his decision backfired, with Bent’s eye for goal rescuing a point for the hosts. Quite what his manager will make of yesterday’s outburst is another matter, though; a no-nonsense type of character, Lambert may well feel undermined by the forward’s decision to vent his frustrations in public and could well decide to continue with last week’s front pairing in spite of Bent’s obvious attributes.

Forgive me for playing devil’s advocate but... if you were on wildcard, do you think it would make sense to ditch RVP for the next few weeks? Fixtures aren't promising in the short-term but admittedly, for someone with no preseason, his form is great:
[new STO che ARS avl nor]

You'll certainly want him back for GW 13 at least when he faces:
[QPR WHM rdg mci SUN swa]

My question is does he really justify over 13m of your budget for the next 4-6 weeks. His price rises haven't been so prohibitive that buying him back in a few weeks at a loss would damage you that much. In the meantime you could have viable replacement and captaincy options in:
Aguero [SUN wba SWA whm TOT AVL]
Suarez [STO RDG eve NEW che WIG]
Ba [MUN sun WBA liv WHM SWA]

What are the thoughts on here? Is he untouchable?

Darren Fletcher attempted 23 long passes last night, with 100% accuracy. And he made 132 passes. Against Galatasaray, Scholes and Carrick made 58 and 80 respectively.

The right replacement is Aguero though, if you do plan to go without RVP. Reasons are good enough.

I agree on both counts. Aguero would be the obvious replacement, I do think he will start all or most of city's games now. He would be the new captain for 3 or 4 of those coming gameweeks, Suarez and Ba I threw in there to just show a mixture could give you increased returns and a very smooth captaincy route.

Undoubtedly RVP will get points in the next 6 gameweeks, it is just a question of whether he will get more or less (less includes equal amount of points) than these players.

I made the coolest wildcard team ever last night - without him... and then he scored 2 goals and got me scared again.

I will probably captain him this weekend and reassess during the international break where I'm probably going to be wildcarding.

Your thinking is very sound. I'm even worried that he might be rested for STO.

The only way I would be able to get him back for that nice run is to drop Aguero and downgrade a midfielder. Which I suppose is doable but it's not ideal.

I'll captain at Newcastle. If he scores a hattrick or something it'll be incredibly hard to drop him. If he doesn't score, it'll be pretty easy (even if that's not totally sensible)

Man City's form, statistically, helps the decision IMO. If RVP had gone there, then he really would be undroppable. Away from home I don't think Utd keep the ball well enough to give him the chances to make him undroppable.

RVP is a season keeper! Look how well the partnership btw rooney and him worked yesterday.
More goals are coming I can tell ya.
If you like Aguero, then you can add lambert but your midfield will be poor.
Suarez fixures ain't good after reading game.
Ba is a must with its upcoming 3 home games!

Until the stituation becomes more clear (his partnership with Rooney) i think you should keep. I might dissagree with his fixtures as he is more likely to start vs tougher opponents.

Right I'm having problems with deciding on whether to use my transfer or not.
My team at the moment is:

            Foster Federici
            ACole Zabaleta Cuellar Demel Clyne
            Bale Yaya Fellaini Dyer Noble
            Tevez RVP Fletcher

Got 1 FT and 1.2 mill in the bank.

Was thinking maybe: Noble -> Sterling (but then would be hard to bench someone in midfield)
            Any opinions would be helpful!

I'm thinking of doing this transfer, though tempted by Tevez > Torres as well for a one week punt before WCing.

Berbatov hopes to be fit for Southampton away...

From his official facebook: - "I need to speed up the healing process of my injury, by increasing the amount of oxygen in the body's tissues...So here i am, breathing pure oxygen.. let see if it's going to help me .:)...Hope to be ready for next game..:).."

Mata looks like he's hit form so Mata, but not worth the sideways transfer if you have Hazard.

i do have hazard, the transfer to mata will give me 1.1 mill in da bank so thats why i'm tempted, but i guess i won't be able to get hazard back again, ummm. yeah maybe i'll listen to you guys then

Are those who are saying that Hazard won't start at the weekend those who haven't got him, or is it a genuine concern do we think?

Also, I thought Moses did quite well last night.

Thinking Kagawa may be dropped if RVP & Rooney are selected on Sunday, with this in mind (and WC being actived once this GW begins ready for the break) Kagawa > Gervinho? / Bale ? / Mata ? for this coming gw?

Don't need to save the transfer as WC coming.....

Be aware Kags price may well drop, also Gervinho's could rise, before next gw.

Does Bannan & Tevez –> Ramirez & Ba for a 4 pointer make sense? I fancy Newcastle to win this weekend and Ba will surely be in amongst the goals

Noble has 2 really nice fixtures coming up. If you have to do one then maybe D but I think you can get away with saving to be honest!

Well Wisdom currently only has threat from Enrique - who isn't even fit yet apparently.
Caulker has a threat from Naughton (no idea on return date) and Benny (will be far enough away that I would go with him at the moment). Not sure i see AVB replacing JV with Naughton whilst it's working so well though.

Alreet, who to bench out of this lot?

                Hazard, Morrison, Pienaar, Santi, Michu
                Rvp, Tevez, Lambert

Im thinking Peanut, and Tevez may be shipped out after tonight.

Not happy with HBA and Pod for this week who're currently in my team.

HBA > Kags probably not worth it
Pod > Ba would leave me with double Newcastle against United...

What would you do with this?

                Another issue.

Michu Ado about him [Scoring] Nothing?

Is he worth keeping in a WC? I see those juicy Swansea fixtures but I also note their recent form. Even a downgrade to Dyer looks more appealing than keeping him.

Is it safe for wildcarders go "San Miguel"? 😉
