The Gunners show their spirit to come from behind and claim the points at Upton Park, as Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott arrive and Santi Cazorla confirms his class…

On the Up

Olivier Giroud
A first Premier League goal, was capped by the assist for Theo Walcott’s winner. The Frenchman has pedigree in his native country but has yet to convince on these shores. He’ll surely take great confidence from this evening’s performance, however, and Giroud could yet present another enticing option up front.

Santi Cazorla
We kept faith with Cazorla in the Watchlist rankings, settling him in third above his in-form team-mate Gervinho: tonight’s performance demonstrated just why. The Spaniard was, once again, superb and this time delivered on his hugely impressive numbers with a fabulous strike to seal the Arsenal victory.

Theo Walcott
A peripheral figure so far in Arsenal’s season, Walcott’s goal and his assist for Cazola’s effort was a reminder of his potential. Contract negotiations are still ongoing – if Walcott can finally settle, he could yet play a role in our Fantasy seasons. Right now, he’s an option that increases the likelihood of rotation in Wenger’s lineup.

Going Down

The Arsenal Defence
Arsene Wenger brought Per Mertesacker back into his back four, dropping Laurent Koscielny to the bench – a decision likely to have been governed by the threat of Andy Carroll. The Gunners backline have now conceded in the last four and, more significantly, with Bacary Sagna and Wojciech Szczesney set for returns after the international break, there is a great deal of uncertainty in terms of personnel. Thomas Vermaelen appears to be the only assured starter, at least until we know more on Kieran Gibbs’ knock that saw him replaced just before the hour-mark tonight.

Gervinho
Giroud’s returns and Walcott’s showing from the bench signals trouble for owners of the Ivorian. Already he was pushed out wide on the right from the off in this evening’s game, only to be replaced by Walcott after 60 minutes after an ineffectual showing. Gervinho’s starting role is now immediately under increased threat, both as a central attacker and on the flank.

Ricardo Vaz Te
The Hammers striker had been enjoying a buoyant start to the season but this looks to have been derailed this evening by a suspected dislocation of the shoulder. Guy Demel also sustained a knock and his prognosis is likely to be a greater concern for Fantasy managers.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Rate my WC team:

    Foster-Begovic
    Baines-Hughes-Cuellar-Demel-Clyne
    Bale-Cazorla-Pienaar-Ramirez-Sterling
    Ba-RVP-Suarez

    Too much in forwards?

Hi Zep, it's been a while isn't it. Seems like ages that both of us had these gravs as well 😉

Been alright mate. Work and the people around me started to demand more time having spent so much time on FPL last season. And my horrid start to the season didn't really help either. Haha

Good luck with job hunting! I was in a similar position 10 months back and no exactly how the phase can be. Eventually we'll all achieve Kolarov limits! (Kolarov = FPL Nirvana)

Zep, how shall i take on my 2FT? Even if i keep Dyer, there's no way I;m starting him over Pienaar/Barfa this weekend as he's likely to be benched.

Also want Santi in for Haz, leaving me with a potential 12.6 to replace Tevez.

Dyer is so shit, I just wished I got Sterling as a bench fodder on my WC..

Might need a hit to remove him or looks like I'll be stuck until next WC(more pressing transfers every week)

        Hazard-Bale-Santi-Barfa-Pienaar

Regardless of fixture any of those players could get massive hauls.

I wouldnt have that front 8 selection dilemma

I'd do Dyer>Sterling and bench Sterling for most games. Then should the likes of Barfa, Haz or Berba get a rest (or if you get a late injury) then you'll have a decent player to come in

Hmmm personally I would forget about Dyer right now... you can sort that out after GW8...

Just focus on your team for next week... your defence is fine with Baines in there then Foster, Gallas and Hughes all playing at home...

I think the time is right to get rid of Hazard... if you think he is going to rise another few times then, by all means wait, but I would do it before Cazorla rises... regardless wait as long as you possibly can...

12.6, you say? You could have anybody, except the one person you will probably want... I know you took him out but I think you want him back (if you don't now, you will tomorrow)...

If you take a hit for Dyer > Sterling, can you afford RVP? If so I would consider that... If not, then maybe Suarez and use the rest of the money in subsequent weeks for some upgrades in defence...

Bloody Guthrie.....All I asked of him was to keep his place in the Reading side, sit quietly on my bench each week and KEEP HIS VALUE!!! He cant even do this simple task.

So what to do about my Guthrie problem, I alos have Dyer so it's an urgent problem.

    Should I do:
    a) Guthrie> 4.6m benchie (El Ahmadi, Puncheon -have Lambert though)
    b) Dyer > Sterling (then Guthrie>5.5m player another week)
    c) Hang>Hughes & Guthrie>Sterling (-4pts)

sucks to take such a pithy hit as in c) but it would improve my team for the long run and I can keep my WC safely in my pocket for a rainy day

Hmmm, it's a really tricky one this. I think you should probably see Guthrie as bench fodder that will stay on the bench so therefore not the urgent transfer...the only thing is I'd quite fancy keeping Dyer for Wigan...but obviously you won't be feeling that way at the moment...There's some good options though at under 6m possibly...Jarvis/McAnuff/Taarabt...

          I don't think B is worth it...or A...

C isn't worth a hit imo...although I think you should downgrade Hangaaland in the long run as he's not worth that extra bit of cash! Sorry I can't suggest anything concrete...hope this helps.

Yeh thanks for the advice. I think my hand will be forced into b) to be honest. I cant afford Dyer to be benched (which is likely) against Wigan with Guth not even playing anymore, so I may as well sort this problem and worry about Guth another week.

Plus I think Sterling is fantastic value and a great bench/rotation player to have

Hey guys so I have Larsson and Cabaye in my team.
Was wondering which transfers to make:

    A)Cabaye>Cazorla,Larsson>Morrison 4 pt hit.
    B)Cabaye>Michu,Larsson>Morrison 4pt hit.
    C)Cabaye>Bale,Larsson>Morrison
    D)Cabaye>Bale/Cazorla,Larsson>Ramirez?

Saw Ramirez play and he's really quite effective in going forward.

Exactly. I think he's been quite good defensively this season, and he offers so much in attack, that he's prob worth it. The prob is he's an Italian, who likes to keep CSs as opposed to simply obliterating opponents.

After gw5 (Mata got an assist against Stoke), someone here asked me whether he should make the switch from Hazard to Mata as he believed that Mata would hit form now, and I literally told him to feck off! Said he was crazy to get Mata after just an assist, and it was a hell of a knee-jerk. Since then Mata has embarked on run which gave him 21 pts compared to Hazard's 9.

Hazard->Santi in stone for me atm.

Could ditch Dyer and have this front 8 plus 1.3 in the bank but i think id go mad:

What's with Peanut on your bench? Rookie mistake that. 🙄

Since I selected Felli he has been a disaster. Typical.

Think I'm going to bank the Fellaini money I made...I don't fancy him as Jelavic/Mirallas are going to score most of the goals imo. He will score a few but not sure it's worth all these frustrating weeks of him getting yellows and he's not really a natural goalscorer...what do you think?

Yeah, I have a feeling our minds will be made up for us when he gets another yellow.

He was brill vs south and his the bar with a header, but that sums him up. Like Tim Cahill he scores from headers, but with the ball at his feet he looks clumsy.

Everyone on here said he will have high scores some weeks, but Pienaar will be more consistent. They were right. I was swayed with his "stats" all the members were raving about.

I am gonna have benching problems week in, week out. I'll live with that, and not try to trouble you guys for asking advice. It was a tough choice b/w Pienaar, Fellaini, and B.Arfa.

Fellaini was a mistake for me too, I am probably doing Fellaini->Caz+Tevez->Berba this week. And after gw8, Gerrard->Silva. Not that you care!!!

Things are gonna get better, but you need to trust your gut feeling a little more. It's got +5k all over it 🙂

Why is everyone still taking out Tevez? He will definitely start against WBA seeing that he is not in the Argentina squad, whereas his fellow strikers will be globe trotting. Hopefully he will then start the Champions League game on the bench and be fresh for the Swansea game.

    Hazard vs Mata

    Haz
+ Huge assist potential due to his ability to earn penalties
+ Penalty taker when Lamps is not on the field.
    + More than avg finisher
    - Not playing at his best position at CAM

    Mata
+ Great delivery of set-pieces (on most corners/FKs)
+ Makes Chelsea tick, meaning he is likely to be a bonus magnet
+ About 1mil cheaper than Haz
    - Avg finisher and not likely to score too many goals over the course of the season

You'd be surprised. Although Mata looked he was bossing the games, looking at the stats over the last 3 GWs, it looks like Hazard's FPL potential (chances created/shots on target) is still up there with Mata.

No doubting he's going to produce his best yet this season. Also, considering Oscar has yet to realize his full potential in this starting 11, it tickles my fancy. If there's one man in this squad who can win us the title single-handedly, it's this Brazilian genius. Mark my words!

From an FPL perspective though, there might not be much to chose between Hazard or Mata come season end.
