Reports are starting to surface that the FA will take no further action on a trio of controversial incidents that occurred in the Gameweek gone by. Robin Van Persie’s alleged elbow on Yohan Cabaye at the Sports Direct Arena was reviewed by Howard Webb and was not considered to be an act of violent conduct, meaning the Dutchman will be available for United’s Gameweek 8 home showdown against Stoke.

The decision will no doubt infuriate Alan Pardew – the Newcastle boss called for Van Persie to be banned after yesterday’s 3-0 loss. United subbed off their summer signing just four minutes after the incident, with Pardew certain of the Dutchman’s intent:

“He has looked at Yohan and he has elbowed him, and I think that perhaps needs to be looked at, if I am honest. There’s a bit of history from last year and I don’t know if Robin has been caught up in that, but that was just a little bit unsavoury. I actually thought Yohan wouldn’t have gone down if he hadn’t done something. I didn’t see it myself, but I have obviously seen it on the replay and it looks like he has looked at him and put his elbow there.”

Pardew did receive some good news, however, after Webb also failed to report Cheick Tiote’s apparent stamp on Tom Cleverley in the same match.

Elsewhere, Robert Huth has escaped a possible suspension for violent conduct. The Stoke defender appeared to stamp on Luis Suarez in yesterday’s goalless draw at Anfield but will not have to face the authorities. This somewhat atones for his failed appeal back in February, where the German was slapped with a three-match ban for a tackle on Sunderland’s David Meyler.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hart, Kompany, Yaya are the nailed on starters but none will get you massive points each week..... I'd go for Aguero if you can find a way to afford him.

My problem is that you have to have RVP as well and this destroy your team, having both Aguero and RVP.

After their showing at the weekend I'd say yes. Really starting to up their game. Silva combining nicely in adavanced areas. I'd take Aguero and Silva if price was no issue. It is though, so I'm going for Silva + Tevez.

    Potential team for gw8:

    Foster (MCI)

Sagna (nor) Cuellar (NEW) Baines (qpr)

Cazorla (nor) Noble (SOT) Nolan (SOT) Pienaar (qpr)

RVP (STK) Fletcher (NEW) Tevez (wba)

Obviously this relies on Sagna being fit. Can't shake the feeling Noble is going to get in the points and Hazard/Silva/Bale (my other options) will miss out.

If you haven't got Pienaar, than it's Pienaar.

I'm considering a 1-2 week Nolan punt but fixtures are horrible soon.

Ramirez also definitely on my wishlist, and probably the most fun to own.

Wildcard is driving me mad.... Please help. The RVP Aguero option is giving me a headache, like probably most other people on the site. People are RMT and getting responses like n united cover, no city cover, so is the answer to get both!! For me I think its yes, mainly because the two above me in my mini league have neither, and have made 50 point gap. However, does this leave me too short at the back/middle. Really appreciate any feedback, thank you.

    Jaask - Begovic

    Rafael - Baines - Clyne - McCartney - Gorkss

    Bale - Cazorla - Routledge - Pienaar - Sterling

    Berbatov - RVP - Aguero

dont know your mini league teams, but most likely they have hit lucky with transfers at right time, that is unlikely to keep happening. With aguero and RVP over the course of time you will regularly pick up points, where as they will either try and chase in form players or retain scorers who have done well but are on the slide.
So yes long term keep them and ride out rotations etc. Would be tempted to try and find one more good defender though

Guys, forget about RVP. The guys in my mini league and even overall are leading thanks to no RVP in their team. Since you are wildcarding, I would try to make a balanced team without him. His impact at United is not the same as at Arsenal, there are cheaper options available!

3 goals against Southampton, one of the worst defence of the league, that is easy. Then among the other 2, a penalty and a field goal. You forgot that he got 2 yellow cards in 5 games.
If he fails to perfom, he could immediately be replaced by Hernandez and Welbeck.

as season goes on other teams weaken due to injuries and suspensions so goals become easier.
doesnt matter how and against who he still got them.
you could say the replaced comments against anyone who doesnt perform.

Yep, the hat trick is a statistical outlier that skews his overall performance this season. He's going to share points with the rest of the United team. 5.9 points per game is not worth 13.5 million.

Vorm to Foster defo. None of the rest take my fancy tbh. After this week, Saylor looks a good option (if fit). Prefer Jelavic or Fletcher to Ba. RVP over Kun for me - Tevez and Silva are better options due to price and gametime respectively.

Remember wildcarders that the first week back after an international break is always a lottery. Injuries arise at the last minute, selections get altered. It is the week where the differential rules. Your wildcard should be long term.

Gameweek 8 will be typified not by goals from Tevez, RVP and Bale but the likes of Townsend, Scholes and Nasri.

Is there a huuuuge difference between these two?

    A) Lambert>Crouch & keep HBA. Save one free.

    B) Lambert> Ba HBA> Walters. Use both frees.

    Basically, HBA&Crouch or Ba&Walters?

Tricky. Very tricky. Not a huge difference. Huess I'd go with HBA and Crouch as its cheaper, Cisse will hit form soon, Walters may play out wide more often (like he did at the weekend).

Hello guys what do you think of this:
    My former team:
    Hart/begovic
    cuellar/huhges/demel/barnett/baines
    cazorla/pienaar/hazard/kaca/michu
    rvp/tevez/lambert
What could be my new team
    Hart/begovic
    wilson/baines/ridgewell/clyne/cuellar
    cazorla/mata/kaca/pienaar/michu
    rvp/tevez/lambert
Sadly, for my new team i will have to take a 12 pts hit.
Is it a good team,or should i WC to get it don’t take a hit ????

Is no one considering Oscar, imo he offers the same goal threat as Hazard and more goal threat than Mata and all three have the same level of trickery and assist potential with Mata a little more since he is on corners and fks. However Oscar is a lot cheaper and doing Hazard to Oscar gives a lot of cash to beef up other areas. Now before you go on about him not doing anything in the league yet Mata didn't do anything untill 3 gws ago and Oscar has recently come back from injury. I just think at 7.8 he could be a real bargain and numbers aside just looking at him he seems way more direct than the others. He is always looking to shoot while the others tend to rather make the final pass. Thought?

Although 3 in 3 starts would say otherwise.

I think he'll be nailed-on quicker than we think, and I think he could be a fantastic FPL prospect with his tendency to shoot and be on the end of CFC moves.

If his fixtures weren't so awful he'd be in my team already. As it is I will probably wait til Xmas.

Who really is going to start before him? Moses? Really? Plus since his come back he has been playing in the hole and pushed both Mata and Hazard out wide. I just think he could be a bandwagon to get on before a monster score instead of chasing pts

        Never

You'd just have all the best teams (Brazil, Germany, Argentina Italy, Spain etc)

plus a two-legged knock out round for all the past underdogs to get in (Ireland, Turkey, Sweden, South Korea etc)

Teams like San Marino, Faroes Islands, England etc...would not be allowed to compete.

it would be far better if the top 32 in the world qualified and then there were say 8 additional spots where all the other countries play off for.

That way we could have the odd friendly and no one would mind. What is the point of England playing San Marino when England could put out its under 16s and they would win.

Not sure if or how long I should hang onto Podolski..

He's a great player, and has been very good for us, but I really don't see him scoring as well as other strikers (Ba, Berba) from a Fantasy point-of-view over the rest of the season.. After Saturday's game, I'm even tempted to go sideways and transfer him for Giroud...

Any opinions? Should I be sticking with him for a while?

I'm sticking for the next two at least, they don't come better then them.

I also think he is more of a consistent sort of player. Counter attacking against the big sides, he should do well.

He has assists in the locker as well, plus the odd set piece and maybe Penalties. Probably worth being patient with for now.

Fellow Podolski owner here. Tempted with your sideways move here. Once I think Giroud is a nailed-on starter (I think that might even already be the case to be honest) then I think I will do that switch. Podolski's involvement stats don't make nice reading. If I get wind nice and early that he's definitely starting vs. Norwich I might just take the plunge and go for it. If I'm not 100% I will give Podolski the Norwich game. If Giroud doesn't look nailed-on after that AND Podolski didn't get a haul I'd look at Berbatov. But I'm pretty confident both of those things will happen - which will be a different type of headache.

Way I see it, had Ramsey got the penalty (rightly) and Pod took it, we probably would not be considering the move. Small margins, though Giroud stats were far more impressive. Id make the move, if you have nothing else to do. It carries its own risks.

Though I fancy Giroud to start the next match after his goal.

It's the stats that do it for me. Central strikers for AFC get buckets of chances. 33 goals last season for Giroud. I'm tempted to hold-off and give Podolski the Norwich game, but equally pretty tempted to just get it done - and maybe even captain the new man.

Jelavic unless you've already got Everton coverage.

I have Baines already, do you reckon that's enough? Want to make the transfer to Berba to free up some cash

I meant as part of the front 8.
Looking at their fixtures for Everton and Newcastle, they're basically neck and neck up until GW 15.
Maybe slight advatange to Ba as he might be on pens although we don't know for sure, plus he gets more assists and is more of BAPS magnet, but it's a very close call.
Jelavic is more of a regular scorer (looking at the 11/12 season) while Ba is more streaky.

I hate to do this so early in an International break, but have to do this before any more rises/drops:

    Hazard + Graham -> Bale + Berbatov

    good move?

what about if you also have Federici, Guthrie and Demel stinking out your bench?

My bench is pretty stinky, but it's not pressing me into action. These look good moves.

I'm doing Fed > Bego eventually but with my other keeper Jussi at home and Bego at Old Trafford it can obviously wait another week.
