Reports are starting to surface that the FA will take no further action on a trio of controversial incidents that occurred in the Gameweek gone by. Robin Van Persie’s alleged elbow on Yohan Cabaye at the Sports Direct Arena was reviewed by Howard Webb and was not considered to be an act of violent conduct, meaning the Dutchman will be available for United’s Gameweek 8 home showdown against Stoke.

The decision will no doubt infuriate Alan Pardew – the Newcastle boss called for Van Persie to be banned after yesterday’s 3-0 loss. United subbed off their summer signing just four minutes after the incident, with Pardew certain of the Dutchman’s intent:

“He has looked at Yohan and he has elbowed him, and I think that perhaps needs to be looked at, if I am honest. There’s a bit of history from last year and I don’t know if Robin has been caught up in that, but that was just a little bit unsavoury. I actually thought Yohan wouldn’t have gone down if he hadn’t done something. I didn’t see it myself, but I have obviously seen it on the replay and it looks like he has looked at him and put his elbow there.”

Pardew did receive some good news, however, after Webb also failed to report Cheick Tiote’s apparent stamp on Tom Cleverley in the same match.

Elsewhere, Robert Huth has escaped a possible suspension for violent conduct. The Stoke defender appeared to stamp on Luis Suarez in yesterday’s goalless draw at Anfield but will not have to face the authorities. This somewhat atones for his failed appeal back in February, where the German was slapped with a three-match ban for a tackle on Sunderland’s David Meyler.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

really looks to me like cabaye initiated contact by veering into rvp. if he did throw an elbow then cabaye deserved it. also he went down way to easy.

Entourage is good, but to call it the best ever tv series is just wrong. Too many celebs wanting to do guest appearances to boost their coolness for my liking.
        Columbo is probably my favourite.

No way is Shield better than Wire!! Watched Wire 3 times over and gets better every time. You know EVERY character by 5 series so well. The Shield is OK, but when you compare it's a no contest. It's far too Hollywood and overstated and over the top. When you realise the makers of The Wire actually lived through that city and was a journalist you realise the series is so truthful it's actually perfect TV.

I would agree that The Wire is better (well, it's quite simply perfection) but I wouldn't brand The Shield as "Hollywood". It's a more pacier version of The Wire with a poorer script, yet still miles ahead of 24, Lost and the like.

You will slowly be driven mad by the constant pounding in your head as question after question after question slowly merge into one great explosion of enquiry. your nights will seem like days and your days will seem eternal, all sense of reality will cease to exist and rational thoughts will be replaced by echos of silence.

I'm stuck with Danny Graham and it is slowly making me die inside.

1FT and only 0.2m in the bank. Raising cash to upgrade him would mean binning Mata, Ivanovic, Bale or Tevez.

Would Ivanovic & Graham -> Wilson & Ba be worth a -4 hit?

I'm thinking of doing RVP to Giroud and Tevez to Aguero, which will inevitably go terribly. Just a friendly heads up.

that's why it has been disaster for you. youre impatient for an outcome. hold on to RVP, he'll deliver. and transferring a player out for another from the same team is never good. unless under certain circumstances (injured etc)

I just think Aguero is a better player than RVP and in a better team and should score more. The only reason he didn't last season was because he had to play with Balotelli so often. And I don't want to double up on City attack.

But you're right, I am impatient.

Well it was 269 v 211 last season. In which RVP was the main source of goals for his club, which I don't think he will be at Man Utd. Aguero played 15 games with Balotelli in which he scored 2 goals because Tevez had a sulk. It was also Aguero's first season in England. So I definitely see Aguero outscoring him this season.

Really stuck on transfers for this week. If Sagna looks likely to play will get him in, but other than that can't see what to do. Have 2FT, 0.5 in the bank:

    Foster
    Demel Cuellar Baines
    Hazard Cazorla Nolan Pienaar
    RVP Fletcher Tevez

    Begovic Guthrie Ridgewell Wilson

Considering Hazard to Silva but think it'd be better to wait a week (expect Walker to get give away a few fouls against Hazard, maybe a pen) and see which of Silva or Bale are better options going forward.
Would like Berba but can't take out Fletch at the moment at Newcastle at home seems likely to bring goals.
If Sagna isn't fit does Guthrie to Noble seem like the best move and bank the other? With a view to gettin Sagna and Silva/Bale in next week?

City were excllent vs. Sunderland. And Sunerland were very good defensively too imo. Against a weaker defence City would have scored 6 or 7. Silva is starting to get good scoring opportunities too as well as creating - looks like 7-8 ppg for the good run for me.

Wanted to say hello to everyone, I'm a longtime follower of the site but first time poster. I figured I would take advantage of the annoying international break to sign up here.

My conundrum: I've had three Chelsea players since GW1 and have been meaning to drop one if not two of them pretty much since GW2 but haven't had the transfers available. Now that their fixtures toughen is it time to drop one? If so, which of Torres, Hazard or Ivanovic?

They've served me pretty damn well so far, as have some lucky (or astute) captaincy picks. Had an amazing start to the season.

    Thanks for any advice!

yes drop one, prob hazard, ivanovic is gold dust long term. Torres is only forward they have and will have low weeks but will hit bigger points more often than hazard.
Will then give you option to cover another team during poor fixtures

i guess it depends where you want to use the transfer, personally I would leave Ivanovic in as he covers the chelsea defence and gets forward plenty. So would you prefer another midfielder in your squad if so replace Hazard, if you want a change up front then change Torres. Personally I am sticking with Torres as Chelsea have so few options up front even though he isnt the player he was.

SO I guess what Im saying is I would get rid of Hazard right now and upgrade maybe to Cazorla or Bale???

Thanks for the feedback guys. I know deep down that I need to drop them, but I have some glaring holes elsewhere. Need to somehow free up the cash to do Federicci to Begovic and to upgrade Britton.

I guess downgrading Hazard to Michu could do the trick (though I hate to pay so much for him). Would like to get Utd or City coverage somehow but there are a distinct lack of standout options in their midfields in my opinion.

I agree, I think it's time to drop at least one and all 3 have big positives in their favour. I think you should identify who you'd replace each with, theoretically and work from there.

Are we looking at Baines vs Silva vs Aguero theoretically? Anything in the bank?

Thanks Hec. Sadly I've got 0 in the bank at the moment. Baines is a real option though it would have to be at ivanovic's expense. can't have him, baines and vertongen. I fear that the points are going to be spread too evenly amongst city's forwards and midfield.

Wow, considering Lennon? I was thinking about it while Bale was underperforming but he's just too inconsistent in FPL terms for me - in real life has been arguably their best performer. Nolan surely looks nailed on for points in the next 2?

I'd captain RVP, Caz as vice. Would of been Berba (c) if he wasn't returning from injury.

Not sure the fixtures thing is such an issue with Carroll in there. Can cause havoc against the best of 'em. In a 5-0 rout (which is unlikely to ever happen with AVB there) I'd be inclined to expect Lennon not to be involved in any goals. He is a good option, but could never pick him over Noble or Pienaar (even if I had Jelavic)

RVP-Torres-Giroud could potentially be the must have frontline in the near future, if Giroud nails on his spot. A certain Falcao might show up and ruin this but i reckon it is a possibility. Aguero/Tevez so far are somewhat rotation threats.

Random BP's? Seen Pienaar's stats? Baines had a few shots off target, a yellow card and 2 goals conceded. Also a goal from a Penalty accounts for lesser PPI compared to a goal in open play.

Giroud has been good in last game and Arsenal have fantastic team and they will create manny chases for him

he could be real deal, now i must hope that he stays quite against NOR

Good you've turned your opinion. You spoke a lot of shit about him earlier, i remember.

              it was stupid i know

but he did look terrible in first few games wich he played for arsenal

maybe he needed time to settle down

If Falcao signs for Chelsea he's in for me. I always use the Jan wc in the last week possible in order to be able to get in any new signings I want

Would scoring goal be enough for Giroud to keep his place? Surely he's a rotation risk due to Arsenal's substantial squad

Agreed but he is a good player imo. Loves to take a shot, got an eye for a pass, positions well and i like his hold up play. Not to mention, he's a big lad. With all the creativity around him, it means goals goals goals. If he's nailed on mind you.

Noone else in his mould though (other than Chamakh). I think he'll be nailed-on in no time.

Unlikely. Cazorla will remain the better option from Arsenal imo. Berbatov would surely fight his way in there somehow. Jelavic too - even with good midfield options, they are unlikely to do as well as him unlike the Cazorla/Arsenal situation.

made up my mind, for the time being to downgrade Hazard>Nolan and do either Fletcher>Berba or Barnett>Vertonghen and Ridgwell>Sagna(if he's fit and no other useful transfers) 😀

Easy way to add to team value ... and Demel is out for at least two weeks, so will lose his gains ...

Thomas Hitzlsperger will feature as a triallist for Everton U21s this evening

Can't wait to jump on Der Hammerwagon again*

*Probably not though as he only really got points from the old BP system.

He could provide plenty of rebounds for Jelly to hoover up. Replace on guy who likes to shoot from distance (Gibson) with another (Hitzelsperger)

    Just wildcard-ed my tea, *gulp*

    Jaask - Begovic

    Ivanovic - Rafael - Baines - Nelsen - McCartney

Michu - Routledge - Pienaar - Ben Arfa - Sterling

Aguero - Van Persie - Defoe

Currently on 382 points (my bes ever for this stage in the season by far) but wanted to get rid of Federici, Guthrie, Clyne, Gorkss...
