The injury worries continue for Brendan Rodgers, with Andre Wisdom and Fabio Borini the latest casualties. Marouane Fellaini discusses his knee injury, Steven Taylor expects to be fit for the Tyne-Wear derby and Oscar bags a brace for Brazil in a friendly win over Iraq.

Brendan Rodgers has been left reeling after two of his players withdrew from their respective national squads. Andre Wisdom has had to pull out of the England U21 squad due to a shoulder problem, while Fabio Borini is believed to have broken a bone in his foot during training with Italy. While it’s yet uncertain as to the severity of either injury, Wisdom’s potential absence leaves Liverpool struggling for options at full-back; Jose Enrique and Martin Kelly are both sidelined and while Jamie Carragher or Daniel Agger could possibly fill in at right-back and left-back respectively, Rodgers may turn to youngster Jack Robinson. The Liverpool boss sang the left-back’s praises after he also earned a call-up to the England Under 21 squad; Glen Johnson could switch to the other flank if this transpires. Borini’s absence could further cement a starting berth for another youngster, Suso. Coming in at 5.0 in FPL and classified as a forward, he has also started the last two and looks the likeliest to benefit in Borini’s absence.

Marouane Fellaini issued an update on his injury situation yesterday. After pulling out of the Belgian squad with a problem picked up during Everton’s draw at Wigan last weekend, Fellaini spoke to the club’s official website yesterday:

“As you have probably seen and heard I am currently suffering from a knee injury. Fortunately it is not too serious but I will have to miss the two games with Belgium. I am hoping to be back playing for Everton as soon as possible. I am extremely disappointed and I now have to rest in order to get back to full fitness so I can help the team with some important games coming up.”

From a Fantasy perspective, the non-committal answer keeps us firmly in the dark. One of the most popular players in FPL Fellaini is seeing huge numbers of sales on the back a possible absence – with David Moyes notoriously secretive when it comes to player injuries, it could take another seven days until next Friday’s Everton press conference before we get a definitive answer.

Steven Taylor has spoken of his hopes to be fit for the Tyne-Wear derby with Sunderland in Gameweek 8. The Newcastle centre-half revealed yesterday:

“The main thing for me is being 100 per cent fit for the Sunderland game and I didn’t want to prepare for that match carrying any little niggles or anything like that. The medical staff have been spot on – like they always are – and hopefully taking that little bit of extra time on the injury will enable me to be fit for the game at the Stadium of Light. I’m due back in full training next Tuesday, a full five days before the derby, and until then I’ll keep on top of my fitness and conditioning work while a lot of the lads are away on international duty.”

Since limping out of the Gameweek 6 trip to Reading, Taylor has failed to feature for the Magpies. He missed the 3-0 home defeat by United last weekend, joining Fabricio Coloccini and Tim Krul on the sidelines as injuries hit hard for the hosts but with the Sunderland match precluding a favourable run of fixtures, Alan Pardew’s side could be primed for investment. Priced at 5.0 in FPL, Taylor – providing he proves his fitness – looks a decent punt ahead of a schedule that pits him against (WBA, WHM, SWA) in addition to a trip to Southampton from Gameweeks 9-13.

The internationals got underway last night, with Oscar bagging a brace for Brazil in a 6-0 stroll over Iraq. The midfielder was joined by David Luiz and Ramires in the starting XI; Luiz was given the full 90 minutes, while the former two were both subbed off just after the 80th minute mark. Spurs’ Sandro was the man to replace Ramires with eight minutes left on the clock.

Is any City attacking player nailed on? I think Yaya comes the closest. Is Silva really going to play every EPL match when there is UCL to play, and Nasri lurking in the background?

I don't agree with this - I think it will be Aguero long term. I think that last GW and next GW are anomalies due to circumstances. I may be wrong though...

End of the day, neither of them are very nailed on though with 4 top strikers fit and wanting to play.

what's funny is that everyone on here agrees that Aguero + Tevez is Mancini's preferred pairin uptop and yet they wanna get rid. Sure he may get rested here and there but @ 9+ that is a bargain

Aguero has had the start of the season off though. He will get rested some games I agree, but with him not starting vs Sunderland I'd be happy to put money on he won't be rested up until Villa. I'm getting him on WC and plan to get RVP back for that game. Gonna try and second guess managers moving forward, for instance I think it's likely RVP will be rested vs Stoke.

I agree with this. City are struggling in a tough group and will play their strongest team available in the UCL. I see this as Aguero featuring more often that Tevez in UCL, but Tevez playing more EPL matches and especially in their easier fixtures.

+1. I feel Aguero is the best bet rotation-wise. Of course next GW Teveze is a great choice since he doesn't have internationals.

Another thing to consider is that some PL games Mancini might want to play with a big striker, and if he has to choose between Aguero and Tevez to accompany Dzeko or Balo, he'll choose Aguero.. no?

I think it's quite likely that in 2 weeks time Tevez will have produced a couple of decent scores and people will be back to thinking he's a great bargain at the price despite the rare sub-appearance or benching. 9.0ish for a City Striker that plays the majority of PL matches is still a bargain for me.

He hasn't done much in the last couple of games, and I think that, more than the rotation risk worries, is the real reason why people are getting rid of him. But he has great potential in the coming weeks and is a proven prem striker. I'm delighted my mini league rivals are shippping him out.

I've been thinking that, but they conceded 65 last year, and have conceded over 4 on three occasions already this year. If they were going to do something about it, or try and tighten up - you'd have thought they'd have done it already.

Plus I fancy AFC to create well against most teams this year.

    What's everyone's opinion on HBA?

He's obviously can be a fantastic FPL player, but is very erratic with his form.

In a midfield of HBA - Cazorla - Bale - Nolan - Sterling, can the others carry him when he does not perform?

He's an interesting one, and I'm very much considering bring him in for Fellaini. Without actually delving into stats and analysis it doesn't strike me that he's quite as good a prospect in a 4-4-2 as he was last year in a 4-3-3, but despite that he's done ok over a mixed bag of fixtures. He's also a slightly awkward price, rather betwixt and between the likes of Pienaar/Ramirez/Nolan and the premium picks.

He can be a beast when he puts his mind to it and I think he could be very good value. Newcastle have a very decent run of fixtures after GW8.

On the other hand, this season he seems to have only delivered points at home. I'm hoping that's just coincidence; he wasn't like that at the end of last season when he was really on fire.

I say they're fixtures start in GW8 as the Tyne-Wear derby could well bring out the best in the NEW players with Sunderland stuttering slightly.

Yeah, with the fixtures he's got coming up, wuite a few are at home so i'm looking to bring him in before any potential price rise.

The Derbies tend to be low scoring games. I have HBA and Ba so I'll bench HBA. But you never know, both teams seem a bit out of sorts so it could buck the trend.

Hi guys, im new to fpl this year and this site is helping me out a lot.
I just had a question, whether i should:
    1.Upgrade ben arfa to bale
    2.downgrade hazard to bale
upgrading ben arfa to bale means i can't upgrade podolski to aguero/rooney later.

Also thinking A.cole to wilson to free up some cash.

    Thoughts please??

I preffer 2. Chelsea have a tricky run of fixtures while Newcastles is looking good for the forseable (so no need to ditch HBA).

Re downgrading Cole it all depends on whether you have a plan to spend the cash. Wilson is great value and a cheap route in to a Stoke defence who also have a good run of games coming up. Again, its all about strategy. If you've got a plan mapped out which Cole>Wilson helps you to achieve then do it (but not at the expense of a hit).

Morning all. With Stoke's nice run of fixtures from gw9 it is plausable that one could play Begovic from gw>9 right through to gw18 (TOT away). That being the case I am wondering whether now is a good time to cash in on Jussi. I've had him from the start so selling value is 4.7. If I swapped him out for say McCarthy that would give me a very useful 0.7 to invest elsewhere (or Manonne looks appealing at 4.5!). Jussi has been great for me up to now but their fixtures are looking ugly for the forseeable so I figure now could be a good time to cash in. Thoughts?

I look at the likes of young Carragher...this kid has the desire...the tenacity to succeed...that's what I'm looking for...that hunger...but I know I also need some experienced heads too...Gerrard, Wisdom...etc...we need this to succeed as a football club.

        My team is pretty good, Premier League based with a few others that Ive had for a while;
        Szczesny
        Walker Vertonghen Koscielny Clichy
        Song Dembele
        Cazorla Cassano Nasri
        Remy

Dont have many coins as I just bought Nasri/Clichy. Just dont want to mess things up by selling it and not getting a good team with the saved coins.

I am thinking of exactly the same thing.....Got a perfect Russian League squad (just as good as it gets, and it really doesn't get that great with the highest player of 85 (Doumbia is superb though)), and now thinking of switching to Bundesliga. But this is my first time with FUT, so I am not really sure. What say?

Same here, I've never played before Fifa 13 and now I am I don't know what to do. What if it fecks my whole team up haha.

Show-off, benching Doumbia, huh though I guess he ruins your team chemistry 🙂

I am gonna take the plunge this weekend, sell all my Russian players, and build myself a superb Bundesliga team.....My initial value of the Bundesliga team should be around 80-100k, but final value will be around 200k when I have got all the star players in.

Btw EA-Sports gave me 3 free gold packs in FUT as compensation, because of the inconvenience I was caused by their servers. I had complained about the auction house being down, and despite having bought the players I wasn't able to draft them in the squad. Good work, EA 🙂

Get Wilson in for Huth to free up more cash to upgrade either one of your strikeforce

Of course, he's had a fantastic start, but it's a lot of money tied up in one defender and over the course of the season the top midfielders/strikers score more points. Fact.

                These are your recent opinions:
RVP - Before the season he was crap, after the Southampton game he was the best striker in the PL and you will never doubt him again, now after a few games of scoring poorly he isn't that great anymore

Giroud - Before the West Ham game he was "the new Chamakh and one of the worst strikers in the PL" now you want him in your team and he is a good player

Suarez - Before the season started he was the best striker in the PL, then RVP scored a hat-trick so Suarez was a great player but RVP was better, and now after a hat-trick against Norwich Suarez is the best in the league again.

Those are all your words, not mine.. FICKLE.

Berb won't drop - unless he has an injury setback. If he's declared fit his counter will be reset and he may even get a rush of transfers in, but that'll only be next Friday/Saturday.

A scaled down version of my post above....

Is now a good time to cash in on Jussi? I have had him from the start so have a selling value of 4.7. My other keeper is Begovic who can potentially carry me through as my primary keper to gw18, so I am tempted to do Jussi>McCarthy to generate funds. Worth doing?

Is McCarthy nailed on, though? Federici lost his place due to injury so Mc is one bad game away from being dropped. Then what do you do when Pulis goes through his 'give Sorensen a game' phase?
