The first potential casualty of the international break has emerged, with Man City’s David Silva suffering an injury that forced him after just 13 minutes of Spain’s World Cup qualifier with France tonight.

Reports on the injury are, predictably, sketchy at this time with claims that Silva may have suffered a problem with his knee or hamstring. However, the Daily Mail’s Ian Ladyman has since tweeted that it’s Silva’s ankle that has taken the blow – an area which has haunted Silva: the player previously confessing that he has played with an ankle problem for several seasons.

City are now reporting the injury, suggesting a hamstring problem and stating that the player will be examined on his return to Manchester. At that point we should be clearer on the situation and whether Silva will be a doubt for the trip to West Brom on Saturday.

Roberto Mancini will be hugely concerned given that he has a host of players due to return for assessment prior to the weekend, including Sergio Aguero who will turn out for Argentina in Chile in the early hours of this morning. His worries will also include several of England’s lineup who look set to face Poland tomorrow evening after tonight’s postponement in Warsaw.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    question for all experienced players:
is it any relationship between team value and rank, especially for long term view?
because i see top 10 players in FPL has lower value than my team. Thanks.

Long term yes.....Generally those who have done well at the end of the season, would have got the right players at the right time. If you did that, that means during that period these players would had a price increase. Since you got several right players, you would have several price risers in your team. So at the end, the teams with good rank will have a decent team value. Major difference (pt to remember) is that they don't play for team value.

Be mindful that some people make more transfers so their team's selling value and their actual value may actually be different

My general rule is make as much money as you can before xmas ,(without big point spends) then concentrate on points.
If you have built up good value pre xmas , then you can really gain momentum points wise down the home stretch.

It dosent mean you spend lots of points now , just that you take price into consideration when making your transfers, ie doing them on the correct day to avoid drops etc

My team was worth $103.00m last week, its actual selling value though was 100.9

No relation at all. If players are tied on points the number of transfers determines rank.

I'm only a noob, but I think It's about balance... the player with the highest value team (as of last week 107.1m) is ranked about 1.5 million... It's good to build value, especially early on, so you afford a "better" team, but it's not the be all and end all.

There are plenty of people that play to get the highest team value and not for points at all. They invariably make an obscene amount of transfers not caring how many points they lose in the process. The highest team-value team is in all likelihood one of these therefore not really demonstrative of the value that team value has for the average FPL player.

Absolutely. I guess I was trying to say that high team value does not necessarily = high ranking, i.e. focusing purely on team value is risky, for example taking a hit to bring in player just because they will increase in value.

I find it is possible to build value quite easily over a season (114.6m value last season), without it hampering the overall success of your team (points)...

The important point to note if you are looking to build value; you have to do it without it being a priority over your transfer plans (and it should never be the actual reason for making a transfer - unless you are WCing for profit)... but yes, I see no problem with making a calculated early transfer, if it means you will catch a few rises and bring in a player that you would want at that time anyway...

Sometimes making early transfers will come back to bite you in the ass (which is why I am reluctant to advise it), but more often that not, they pass by unnoticed and unpunished, and if so, then you have yourself and extra 0.2m...

Selling someone at the right time is also extremely important, too often I have let go of someone too late, in a stubborn attempt to see my team rewarded with another haul (which usually never comes)... I'm also somewhat embarrassed to admit that I have sold someone on a downward spiral in value just because I would lose stand to lose 0.1m in selling value...

Over the course of a season, though, this accumulation of value will happen naturally and will bring great benefit to your team at the tail end of the season...

tempted by Giroud now with all the talks about him destroying Norwich -_- thing is, i got Suarez and i just bought him last week. so it'd be a total waste to get rid of him. but not having Giroud vs Norwich is insane 🙁 what you think?

I'm from Romania and after watching the game I have no worries about captaining RVP against Stoke. He hasn't put to much effort last night to be fair and scored a goal at the end to keep himself sharp. Also had a freekick saved by the keeper from the top corner and no knocks form our defenders.

He is an attention seeker. He invents a persona only to talk boll*ks and goes on to seek sympathy. If any of his allegations are true then he should go to the police and not post on a blog on a rather odd day.

    Mignolet
    Rafael Hangeland Demel
    Bale Cazorla Pienaar Fellaini
    Rvp Tevez Ba

    Federici Dyer Clyne Gorkks
    2 FT
    0.2 in bank
    A) Fellaini to Nolan (Save 2nd transfer for next week)
    B) Fellaini + Tevez to Mata + Berbatov

Next week Wilson will be comin in for Clyne in both options.
As a chelsea fan i gotta say B) is temptin but as an fpl player Tevez looks good this week(though maybe not long term)

it wise not to use your heart to make fpl decision
1 reckon A is better, tevez already down this week. so nothing to lose

Yeah, I'd just do A, and wait and see on Tevez. I agree B would be very tempting though.

The only hope of points is penalties or the odd assist. I think Maloney is better pick in that price bracket.

Is it essential to have Utd attacking coverage?

Thinking of RVP --> Suzez this week which would allow me to do Michu --> Cazorla next week.

    Thoughts?

RVP out this week - seems a bad idea to me. One of the unofficial rules of FPL - never transfer out a fit player before a straightforward home game. Especially RVP!

It's more essential to have RVP than Cazorla. 🙂

Just had a brain wave (I think)...

As long as leave myself 2 transfers for GW11 to have the opportunity to get RVP back that week, would you agree that these are decent moves, bearing in mind fixtures and potential?

It would mean only not having RVP for che & ARS and would give me a bit more time to decide on which striker to bin out of Tevez & Aguero (or even Suarez if City go scoring mad and they're both involved!)

    GW8: Save
    GW9: Michu & RVP -> Santi & Aguero

    Jaask, (Fed)
    Baines, Hughes, Cuellar, (McCartney) (Clyne)
    Bale, Barfa, Pienaar, Michu, (Guthrie)
    RVP(c), Tevez, Suarez

    Bank 0.5m, 1 freebie

        Another option is
        GW8: save
        GW9: Michu & Suarez -> Santi & Berba (can't afford Ba)

My girlfriend has Fellaini, but would like to get Giroud.

Should she swap out Fellaini because he's injured, or swap out Tevez for Giroud, given the orgy of goals that is likely at Norwich. She doesn't want to miss Giroud's hat trick on Saturday.
