Our Sky Sports Fantasy Football community come into focus on Fridays, having given the Fantasy Premier League frontrunners some oxygen way back when Gameweek 7 came to a close – a distant memory. As always, we focus on the top of the Scout League, track the latest movements in the Sky Sports transfer market and check on Fenners and Merse before tonight’s Fantasy Football Club episode…

The Scout League

There’s movement on top of the Scout League, with Jonathan Lenharth toppling long-time leader, Paul Hennessy, to nudge back to the summit. Jonathan’s “BetterThanLastYear” lineup nicks the lead by six points with a total of 488 points. That’s enough to place him in eighth place overall, a full 28 points behind the leader in the race for the 25k top prize.

Ben Salter is settled in third place in the Scout League, with Gary Paterson and Chris Tuck breathing down his neck. Scout contributor Andy has slipped to 24th spot in the league – a decline, but still a fine showing.

Fantasy Football Scout’s top five still sits comfortably on top of the Private League leaderboard – with a ten point gap on the league in second.

A reminder that if you’re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519.

Market Forces

Santi Cazorla was the apple of our eye in this week’s ScoutCast and, it seems, our enthusiasm has leaked across into the Sky Sports transfer market. Arsenal’s Spaniard has been the most popular target over the international break, claiming over 6% of the transfers in since Gameweek 7 drew to a close. His goal and a third man of the match award of the season at West Ham, no doubt whipping up the enthusiasm for a player who looks well placed to reward investment for a modest fee of 6.7 in this game. Cazorla is now in the top five most owned players, with over 26% of managers acquiring his services.

Cazorla’s team-mate, Carl Jenkinson, goes on attracting suitors who are either oblivious to the threat of Bacary Sagna or confident that the young full-back will retain his start in the coming weeks. Jenkinson ranks second for “transfers in” this week with Chelsea pairing Branislav Ivanovic and Petr Cech coming next. With Leighton Baines in fifth, it’s significant that four of the top five targets this week are defenders – a reflection of the value they are currently offering in this game.

At the other end of the market, Carlos Tevez continues to top the transfers out as frustration builds on his recent rotation and lack of returns, although he is clinging to a 24% ownership, second only to Robin Van Persie who has amassed 38% coverage amongst the forwards.

Fantasy Football Club

Out of position Fantasy Football hero, Ryan Taylor, shimmies into the studio with Fenners and Merse ahead of Sunday’s Tyne-Wear derby for tonight’s episode of the Fantasy Football Club. You can clock in from 10pm tonight and look out for the ITK’s tips for the weekend.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    I know there's a Captain's poll but....

RVP is vs Stoke who've only conceded 5 goals all season (2nd only to Chelsea defensively), but Man U have a good record of scoring against them.

Berbatov is vs a very leaky defence, but has been injured

(Suarez and Carzola I don't have)

Aargh doing my head in. Golden rule is normally captain RVP, but Stoke's record makes me doubt that.

        I sense high Cazorla ownership.

Totally see where you are all coming from. Rodgers has conceded Sterling is playing out of necessity due to injuries and players they didnt sign in the transfer window. He's young and youngsters are often rotated to prevent burn out (I own him so its not in my interests either).

The thinking behind Cazorla is simply because its Norwich and he played midweek. He seems to be shouldering a lot of the early season 'will arsenal succeed' pressure and I expect Giroud to start lifting this particular burden.

Quite clearly I accept I could be very wrong. Not intentionally scare mongering for owners just presenting an opinion

Haha i did. I had all who have created at least 1 goal! Thats why i put the minutes played, as well as working with the minutes per chances created it lets you know if they're getting the game time. Sorry my bad, I see what you mean, like have to have created 10 chances at least. I just wanted to show who maybe getting motre credit then they deserve as well as who's doing well. Is that tmi?? Matty Taylor should be on every table!! 😀 Just maybe not this season!

If you're trying to show this then maybe sort the table by chances per minute? This way the people who are performing will rise to the top. Maybe apply a total row number as well as the table is just going to grow and grow over the GWs.

I do like it by the way once you study it

Feels bad benching £10mil haha. Fletcher over Yaya? Could work. The only thing that is making me unsure is the fact it's the derby.

Keeping Michu for this weekend, but trying to figure out the best combo out of these two options…

    a) Michu – Mata

    b) Routledge – Hazard

    (already have Bale and Cazorla)

    Vorm
    Demel, Baines, Rafael
    Michu, Ben Arfa, Hazard, Sterling
    Fletcher, Tevez, Van Persie

    Begovic, Cuellar, McAuley, Maloney.

Already done one transfer this week, worth another (for no hit)?

If not, next week I have planned Vorm/Tevez to 4m keeper and Aguero. Anything not seem right?

    Who to bench?

    Hazard Michu Barfa Taarabt Gervinho
    RVP Ba Suarez

I suspect Taarabt or Ben Arfa (seeing as I have Ba), but am considering playing Taarabt with his home fixture. Thoughts?

I'm in a terrible pickle where I am considering dropping Aguero or Torres.

Torres is because he is up against a resurgent Spurs and Berba, Giroud etc seem better options.

Aguero because he played approx 160 mins midweek and Mancini is an irritant. I do own Hazard and am looking for some assistance....
