[sbu_large_image] Suspensions

The eagle-eyed amongst you may have noticed that our Suspension Tightrope widget has made a return to your sidebars. This handy little tool lists those players on the cusp of a one-match ban as a result of receiving five domestic bookings before the curfew date of December 31…

Right now we have eight candidates performing a balancing act, with three standout names amongst them.

Marouane Fellaini has been a hugely popular Fantasy acquisition this term and, while he could possibly be in line for a return from injury against Liverpool this weekend, he is just one yellow card from a suspension, having earned three Premier League bookings and a Capital One Cup caution. A comeback in a stormy Merseyside derby may just be enough to topple the Belgian and see him miss Everton’s trip to Fulham.

Swansea’s Michu is another mid-price midfielder who has gathered many Fantasy suitors and, with a new role up front in Michael Laudrup’s lineup, looks set to continue on the ascent. With four bookings (including a Capital One yellow) a potential one-match ban could derail matters, however. His owners will be hoping the Spaniard can pick up that caution at City this weekend; this would mean he misses the Capital One Cup tie with Liverpool on October 29, to be available for the home league clash with Chelsea. That would be, errr…rather convenient.

Fellow Swan, Angel Rangel is also one match from a ban and could also do with picking that booking up this weekend so that he can also make the Chelsea game. With tough fixtures to come, his absence will perhaps be less of a factor for Fantasy managers and we’re set to see continued sales in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) regardless of a ban. With that in mind and a price drop from 5.1 in FPL likely at some point in the coming weeks, it might be a good time to plan the escape route.

In terms of existing bans, we know that Steven Pienaar is certainly ruled out of Sunday’s Merseyside derby, with Everton unable to appeal his red for two bookable offences. City will be without James Milner for the visit of Swansea with a one-match ban dished out for his red for denying a goalscoring opportunity at the Hawthorns. John Terry has two league matches of his four-match ban to serve, while Newcastle’s Cheick Tiote is the latest player to earn a three-match ban for dangerous foul play – he’ll miss league matches with West Brom, Liverpool and West Ham.

Lee Cattermole served out his three-match ban against Newcastle and will be available to Martin O’Neill for the trip to Stoke this weekend.

As always, these bans can be found in our Injuries and Bans table. We’ll be updating the tightrope widget every week from this point on, and bringing you our regular article summing up the new arrivals and the suspensions being served.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Morning Gents,

Quick question...if you were to invest in the Fulham backline (whilst considering cost) would you opt for:

    1. Hughes
    2. Baird

I understand Riise is probably the best bet right now, and then there's the threat of Hangeland...for now I'm just curious on those two...so who would you pick?

    Thanks...

Good timing, morning all, bloody spaniel decided he wanted to play, now I'm wide awake, and Max is out for the count, the sod. Best I've see them pay at home this season, Hoilett was excellent, also worth noting he scored v Reading in the carling cup.

Hughes is a *******! Hoillet was playing really well in Prem and had scored in the cup so I put him for the good run of games and he drops him. Then he brings him back in just as my patience runs out. I text my mate a minute into the game "Hoillet is bound to score here now"

Getting rid of RVP just seems wrong somehow but the funds were needed elsewhere. Sooooo...

    RVP to Rooney
    Pienaar to Mata

Did them last night before Mata's price rise. Decent moves? Also considering Fletcher to Berbatov and Maloney to Sterling over the next couple of weeks.

              Yep, did it Saturday night and fooked up big time with my transfers;

              Suarez > Berbatov
              Nolan > Mata

I'd planned Nolan > Mata after this week, then he went and scored 18 points..
Not so upset about losing Nolan, but more the fact that I could have sold Pienaar instead. But I'll be doing an early transfer next time the prices force my hand, I'll never learn. 🙂

I think the FPL competition is much more interesting this year. Last year it was easy once everyone had Ba in the first half Papiss + Siggy in the second half and Demps, Sess, Bale, Silva, Valencia majortiy of the year. Lots of options this time around, a proper management game.

Both teams are fixture proof in terms of attacking returns. I am just worried Rooney will play slightly deeper vs. the stronger teams. This wont be a case against the weaker teams though. He will still be involved heavily in United's attack.

I'd say he's 85% must have ... Chelsea haven't got great fixtures but he is THE form player in EPL at the moment. He's probably done his big haul dash for the time being, but is the sort of player that you acquire and sit on for the rest of the season!

last time i had this dilemma was in GW5. i handed it to RVP, and he got 6 points while baines, HBA & berba gave me 11, 8 & 8 points respectively. serioulsy, captain choice has been a dilemma this season.

Yeah it's always a tough one (unless you go for RVP every week which isn't a bad idea!).
It's very tight this week between Caz and Ba for me (I don't have Bale btw..).
I think Arsenal could batter QPR this weekend which makes me want to give it to Caz but Ba can be so explosive and is very consistent and is always there or thee abouts with the Newcastle goals. However, we both know that West Broms defence is tight so I can see a 1-1 at the weekend which puts me off Ba... Therefore I think I'm gonna go with Caz....

This time last year Holt was a rotation nightmare. Lambert may be an option when he is no longer under the threat of rotation and Saints find some form.

        Pretty much.
        - Good finisher
        - Plays for an attacking team
        - Will get good points when he plays, with the often rest not worth it over Ba/Jelly/Berbatov etc
        - Penalties

    Mignolet (Federici)
    Hangeland Wilson Gorkks (Clyne Demel)
    Bale Cazorla Mata Sterling (Pienaar)
    Rvp Ba Tevez

hi valar. your midfield and ine is almost identical! after i transferred out michu & lambert for sterling & ba, this is how my team looks like,

      jussi (mcCarthy)
      Baines Gibbs Kolarov (nelsen gorkss)
      Bale Cazorla Mata Sterling (Kaca)
      Rvp Ba Jelly

      0 in the bank.

i know the defence is not almighty.. but i'm planning to get Bego & Newc def for Mccarthy & Kolarov in GW11.. should i?

i'd get rid of jussi in that GW plan if i was you. Sounds good. I'm prob gonna get rid of tevez for Berbs/Crouch sooner rather than later and will use that money in defense. Apart from Fulham and stoke it's not like any defense looks a must have atm anyway 🙂

I need to make 4 more transfers to squezze Silva in after hes fully fit. And my plan is:

    Jaaskelainen
    Rafael, Gorkss, Baines
    Cazorla, Mata, Silva, Bale
    Berbatov, Ba, Van Persie

    subs: Etheridge, Nelsen, Tierney, Obertan
That leaves me with one shi**y spot: Gorkss and Nelsen rotation

Bale won't be up against Fox was my point.

I had to get rid of Hoilett with Fellaini out. There was little indication of him starting again. Delighted I went Maloney ahead of Noble.

I think there are higher chances of Che scoring vs. United than Sunderland conceding vs. Stoke is all.

Yeah thats true, I just think both will concede so Id gamble on attacking returns.

Doing good. No pressing transfers so might do a Rafael defensive downgrade this week to free up some cash. Looking at NewC/Stk defence.

          How about yourself?
This also depends on Gibbs as well.

Similar to you. I have all the usual questions about Tevez, Hazard, etc but it's ok to wait on those guys. Need to sort out the DEF.

West Ham chairman thought he'd play last week so you'd have to think so.

Would you rather get rid of Rafael(for Wilson) or Tevez(for Crouch/Berbs) to free up funds for Mata(in for Dyer) .. RAF's backin of Rafael makes me wanna keep him, and tevez gonna be a headache after this week

Sounds like you have a preference and I'd probably lean towards the same one - Tevez > Berbs

tough question.. i'd keep rafa if i alerady got him. Tevez has the fixtures, but i can see Berbs finishing with at least 150 points this season, and that makes the Fulham man a keeper. i think tevez should be sacrificed, just slightly as Rafa has great fixtures ahead and also potential atacking return.
