[sbu_large_image] Suspensions

The eagle-eyed amongst you may have noticed that our Suspension Tightrope widget has made a return to your sidebars. This handy little tool lists those players on the cusp of a one-match ban as a result of receiving five domestic bookings before the curfew date of December 31…

Right now we have eight candidates performing a balancing act, with three standout names amongst them.

Marouane Fellaini has been a hugely popular Fantasy acquisition this term and, while he could possibly be in line for a return from injury against Liverpool this weekend, he is just one yellow card from a suspension, having earned three Premier League bookings and a Capital One Cup caution. A comeback in a stormy Merseyside derby may just be enough to topple the Belgian and see him miss Everton’s trip to Fulham.

Swansea’s Michu is another mid-price midfielder who has gathered many Fantasy suitors and, with a new role up front in Michael Laudrup’s lineup, looks set to continue on the ascent. With four bookings (including a Capital One yellow) a potential one-match ban could derail matters, however. His owners will be hoping the Spaniard can pick up that caution at City this weekend; this would mean he misses the Capital One Cup tie with Liverpool on October 29, to be available for the home league clash with Chelsea. That would be, errr…rather convenient.

Fellow Swan, Angel Rangel is also one match from a ban and could also do with picking that booking up this weekend so that he can also make the Chelsea game. With tough fixtures to come, his absence will perhaps be less of a factor for Fantasy managers and we’re set to see continued sales in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) regardless of a ban. With that in mind and a price drop from 5.1 in FPL likely at some point in the coming weeks, it might be a good time to plan the escape route.

In terms of existing bans, we know that Steven Pienaar is certainly ruled out of Sunday’s Merseyside derby, with Everton unable to appeal his red for two bookable offences. City will be without James Milner for the visit of Swansea with a one-match ban dished out for his red for denying a goalscoring opportunity at the Hawthorns. John Terry has two league matches of his four-match ban to serve, while Newcastle’s Cheick Tiote is the latest player to earn a three-match ban for dangerous foul play – he’ll miss league matches with West Brom, Liverpool and West Ham.

Lee Cattermole served out his three-match ban against Newcastle and will be available to Martin O’Neill for the trip to Stoke this weekend.

As always, these bans can be found in our Injuries and Bans table. We’ll be updating the tightrope widget every week from this point on, and bringing you our regular article summing up the new arrivals and the suspensions being served.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Which transfer is best:

    1) Federici -> Begovic (my other goalie is Foster)
    2) Rangel->Wilson/Saylor
    3) A.Cole->Baines
    4) Fletcher -> Crouch/Berb/Defoe (can’t afford Ba/Jelly)

    Thanks!

      A cole - Baines is solid
      Rangel > Wilson is solid
      Maybe just put off the Federici transfer for a bit if you can do the others.

          Wilson is a solid bet and clears up a bit of cash...Rangel on a suspension if he gets a yellow.

    Guys n gals,

    Jussi (foster)

    Baines Hangeland Ridgewell (Demel Gorkss)

    Michu Mata Santi noble (Pienaar)

    RVP Tevez Lambert

    I have two FT and 0.1 in the bank, was thinking of ditching Tevez to free up cash and going Tevez > Ba and Lambert > Berba, good moves? Or do I need to look at my back line / keepers?

    Cheers for any input!

      Personally I'd keep Tevez and free up cash with RVP - Rooney.

      If ypu wanna keep RVP the Tevez - Ba cud work tho cos of Newcastle fixtures

      Lambert to Crouch be my change instead of Berba

          I'm quite aware you're not superior. You have a superiority complex -- for no perceivable reason. You're a muppet bragging about picking him up after one week of doing well whilst degrading others for picking him up after two good weeks.

          Perhaps they looked at his La Liga stats?

          Naaaaah ... that's a pathetic thing to say.

      Haven't seen many comments stating he is a season keeper, the question at the moment is who would you replace him with in his price range that you can guarantee you better returns. The one fact is, he is a very decent footballer, and long term they tend to deliver.

      I bet a lot of pepole were considering selling, saw that he was playing as the lone frontman (in place of Danny Graham, who can hardly go knocking on the manager's door after the way he's been playing), and decided to keep or buy.

      I've never had him, more's the pity.

        Gervinho 26 points from 3 home games this season. 8 points from 4 away games. QPR at home after a bad display at Norwich, Hmmmmm.. Worth a small punt or not? No doubt Giroud will get the run out against Schalke and could get a rest. Any thoughts ?

    While there's obviously great valour in picking minnow options like Snodgrass, Morrison, Hoilett, Taarabt, Long, Lukaku (until recently) - don't you feel there's not much upside with smaller low scoring teams? Look at some of the big hauls that even Europa League players are getting right now.

    Evening lads. Have my 2 precious free transfers left (a rarity) after a so-so gameweek. Thinking of the following moves:

    Ridgewell -> Cuellar
    Jaask -> Hart

    Only thing is not 100% sure that Cuellar is a starter as he missed a couple of games few weeks ago. Was that because he was injured or...? Also any opinions on this move would be welcome 😀

      Cuellar is a starter, but who else is in your defence?

      Wilson or Santon/Saylor seem to be the defenders to get at the moment.

      Are you sure about Hart?!

        thanks for the reply. team is linked, Baines Hangeland Fonte Demel, they're week 1 relics other than Baines. both good shouts, would trust Sunderland/Newcastle a bit more than Stoke defensively however. Hart admittedly is a luxury transfer but City will surely tighten up!

            Depends on a few things like do you go with form or fixtures and when you bought Michu.
            If you paid 6.5 in GW1 and have to pay 7.2/7.3 to get himback its stupid instead of playing Sterling or Berbatov.
            And jus cos they play city and Chelsea doesn't mean he wont score.

          Fair enough but did you look at his team?
          With that front 8 Michu is the one for the bench this week.
          Do Michu -> Fellaini and bench who?

          Besides, Fellaini is playing a deeper role since Mirallas started every match since GW4. Michu plays as a fwd and is a much better bet.

        we'll see...got Jelly and Ba up front as well so it's not like i'm lacking...Mancini is running out of choices for midfield and is in a very tough CL group...i can't see he has any choice but to play Tevez deeper and use both Balotelli and Dzeko...Dzeko notched fifteen times last season with only 1500 mins....that's the same rate as RVP....As for Young.. Fergie has a problem on that right...surely he can't leave Kagawa hanging out there...he's rubbish...He's got to go with Young and Valencia...(Young now fit again although needs matches)

        well squad now reads Jaaski/Begovic
        Baines/Raphael/Vertonghen/Cole/Cahill
        Michu/Nolan/Lennon/Sterling/Young
        Ba/Jelly/Dzeko (0.7)
        What's the worst that can happen....?....If i'm right then Young and Dzeko shoot up in value...and if i'm wrong it's soon put right....HBA and Defoe/Fletcher or somebody....

    Which transfer looks better? Team linked.

    1) Hazard and Tevez out for Bale and Torres

    2)Hazard, Tevez, Nolan out for Bale, Mata and Berba.

      Hazard - Mata is a good move. I cant see much between them at the end of the season so the extra cash is well spent elsewhere.
      I would say the same for Rooney and RVP.

    Right folks, I am getting a replacement for Fletcher. In order to finance my masterplan over the next weeks I can only get Holt or Long.

    Please hold back any sick in your mouth, who is the best option? I am leaning to Holt as Morrison could be a handy Pienaar replacement when Everton embark on a tough run GW14 onwards.

    Holt or ShLong?
