A less than impressive City scramble past Swansea thanks to a moment of inspiration from Carlos Tevez in the longest game in Premier League history. For many of us watching, it felt like it, too:

Going Up

Carlos Tevez
Having failed to score in the last four Gameweeks, the Argentine has been deserted by plenty Fantasy managers after impressing in the first few matches. Shifted to a deeper role at half-time, with Mario Balotelli coming on to lead the line, Tevez’s fine strike from distance was enough to secure the points for a disjointed home side.

City Defensive Resolve
The 1-0 win earned a second successive home clean sheet for Roberto Mancini’s men. They have now conceded just once in the last three but their injury problems at right-back look like continuing – Micah Richards seems to have sustained a knee injury and could be set to join Pablo Zabaleta and Maicon on the sidelines; Kolo Toure may earn a rare spell in the first XI as a result.

Going Down

Michel Vorm
The Dutchman has been such a key figure for Swansea since joining prior to the start of last season but, having injured his groin while attempting to save Tevez’s strike, he may well be unavailable for Michael Laudrup’s side. Gerhard Tremmel – priced at 4.0 in FPL – looks the man to benefit.

Joleon Lescott
Granted, the centre-half had been dropped for two league games prior to this evening but both had been on the road. Lescott had played every minute at the Etihad, with Mancini seemingly keen on him alongside Vincent Kompany at home but the former Everton man clearly has a real rival in Matija Nastasic. Lescott was handed a seven minute sub appearance deep into the 12 minutes of time added on, handing his Fantasy owners a one point return.

Nathan Dyer
The winger was benched for the second game running, with Pablo Hernandez again preferred on the right. Dyer had previously started six of Swansea’s first seven but the Spaniard seems to now be slotting into Michael Laudrup’s system at his expense – a big worry for Dyer’s 18% FPL owners.

Scott Sinclair
The showdown with his former club looked tailor-made for Sinclair to make his first start since Gameweek 4 but he once again warmed the bench, with Mancini clearly far from convinced by his abilities. This time last term both he and Dyer were nailed-on under Brendan Rodgers for the Swans – now both look peripheral figures under their new managers.

People on this site really need to start making there own minds up rather than copying others and playing the blame game. All Giroud owners and Santi captainers should have known arsenal are way off form. Only yourselves to blame. Also people who got Wilson over Cameron are you mental??! Just because hes english. You deserve what yous got if you ask me!

Guys im struggling to choose a replacement for Wilson who has broken his ankle/fibula.

    Here are my options

    A) Wisdom, has excelled and very cheap for pool defender, but tought fixtures
    B) Cuellar good replacement but seems injury prone and Average to good fixtures coming up
    C) Cameron 0 Direct stoke replacement
    D) Other that you may suggest

I have bego/Mcarthy as keeper and my subs are Nelsena nd Gorkss.

I'm in the same boat. Leaning towards C, but not sure at the moment.

I've also got Vorm, and it's not really worth a hit to replace them both this week, so I may bench just bench Wilson for a week.

Coloccini and Santon are your best bets by far. Saylor will very occasionally be rotated with all the euro games and Simpson may be used slightly more sparingly since he is as good as gone next summer or even in January.

    Got:

    Jaask
    Ivan Wilson Baines
    Sterling Santi Mata Bale
    Tevez Rooney Ba

    Subs: McCarthy; Britton; Demel; Clyne.

    Planning:

    Jaask -> Bego
Wilson -> Hughes maybe? What's the situation with Baird? Any other def worth considering?

    Thanks in advance!

Baird went off injured. Didn't look serious, but maybe wait for more definite news. If he's fit, he could be worth bringing in ahead of Hughes - playing OOP and more of a goal threat at the moment it seems.

For other options you could bring in, see El Berbossa's post above!

Not quite convinced and as I mentioned above, I am trying to squeeze in Bego between the posts so no go with Stoke doubling there mate. Looking for some other options, Simpson could prove himself a good choice, but there again, rotation risk... 4.8m for some nailed on/goal threat def, easy one 😀

Its actually pretty exciting. Only really boring teams are Sunderland and Norwich. Sunderland have players who should be more exciting. Brom have improved. Stoke is a bit of an acquired taste but they have improved too (where are they now actually? Mid table?)

The point is, i don't want to have a doble chelsea midfield yet. They're complicated in the champions league which it makes me think Di Matteo will save Hazard and Mata against swansea.

And then the Club Wold Cup..

No idea, but I think Fergie really likes bringing him on as an impact player, with his pace up against a tired Left-Back.

I'm not sure what Fergie's trying to do with the formation, but it's some sort of Pep Guardiola formation, all about passing...maybe he's handing over the reigns soon... 😕

It virtually is the Barcelona formation except Rooney's not reallyaying as a false 9 and RVP & Hernandez / Welbz are not consistently wide a la Pedro,/ Sanchez/Villa.

While you don't have exactly the same formation as arsenal it is revealing how you are also trying to pass through the centre and are actually succeeding. Even if it feels weird. I think it is simply a much better front three with much more varied creation and threat.

Morning chaps. Any transfers worth doing to this lot this week? I'm thinking thath saving it is the best option, unless Berbatov gets ruled out with this rib thing. Then, maybe Santi & Berba -> Pienaar & Tevez (for a(nother) hit) ?

      Morning Jinswick

I'd wait and see on Berbs before I did anything if I were you. So many injuries recently it might be a good idea to roll the transfer if you can. If Santi and Arsenal continue to struggle I think I might be tempted by Tony V and Jelly, the usual caveats applying. Can't afford Tevez unfortunately.
Anyway, the week's only half over and something from young Gareth would be wonderful tonight.

It could be wildcard time for me, especially if Berba is out

Howard - Fed (McCarthy seems first choice now)
Baines - Riise - Gibbs (inj?) - McCarthy (bad fixtures) - Barnett (not starting recently)
    Michu - Sterling - Bale - Carzola - Pienaar
Berba (ribs?) - RVP - Fletcher

I want to get in Begovic, Ba and Gibbs injury is taking a while now. Hope Berba is not injured.

Also why didn't Riise get an assist. Clearly Baird scored from his corner and I saw no deflections.

      Ruiz took the corner...

Also, Cazorla to Mata this week. Howard to Bego next week.

Cazorla to Bale or Foster to McCarthy to raise funds.

good team. Moving jenkinson is probably the priority transfer. Even though he is only bench fodder maybe look at moving Demel out.

Also could switch Carzola out for Bale, but slightly a sidewards move.
