A less than impressive City scramble past Swansea thanks to a moment of inspiration from Carlos Tevez in the longest game in Premier League history. For many of us watching, it felt like it, too:

Going Up

Carlos Tevez
Having failed to score in the last four Gameweeks, the Argentine has been deserted by plenty Fantasy managers after impressing in the first few matches. Shifted to a deeper role at half-time, with Mario Balotelli coming on to lead the line, Tevez’s fine strike from distance was enough to secure the points for a disjointed home side.

City Defensive Resolve
The 1-0 win earned a second successive home clean sheet for Roberto Mancini’s men. They have now conceded just once in the last three but their injury problems at right-back look like continuing – Micah Richards seems to have sustained a knee injury and could be set to join Pablo Zabaleta and Maicon on the sidelines; Kolo Toure may earn a rare spell in the first XI as a result.

Going Down

Michel Vorm
The Dutchman has been such a key figure for Swansea since joining prior to the start of last season but, having injured his groin while attempting to save Tevez’s strike, he may well be unavailable for Michael Laudrup’s side. Gerhard Tremmel – priced at 4.0 in FPL – looks the man to benefit.

Joleon Lescott
Granted, the centre-half had been dropped for two league games prior to this evening but both had been on the road. Lescott had played every minute at the Etihad, with Mancini seemingly keen on him alongside Vincent Kompany at home but the former Everton man clearly has a real rival in Matija Nastasic. Lescott was handed a seven minute sub appearance deep into the 12 minutes of time added on, handing his Fantasy owners a one point return.

Nathan Dyer
The winger was benched for the second game running, with Pablo Hernandez again preferred on the right. Dyer had previously started six of Swansea’s first seven but the Spaniard seems to now be slotting into Michael Laudrup’s system at his expense – a big worry for Dyer’s 18% FPL owners.

Scott Sinclair
The showdown with his former club looked tailor-made for Sinclair to make his first start since Gameweek 4 but he once again warmed the bench, with Mancini clearly far from convinced by his abilities. This time last term both he and Dyer were nailed-on under Brendan Rodgers for the Swans – now both look peripheral figures under their new managers.

RVP I reckon. This week feels like one of those gameweeks where it promised so much from a lot of good alternative options, but only the old reliable delivered. 100% speculative of course..

no point in keeping him anymore imo. as referred to above comment, his coming 6-7 games is really not easy. cant see him keeping any cleanies anymore for the next 6-7 games even when playing at home. plus him being out for another 2 weeks(what i heard) makes it easier to cash it in 😀

The problems are that we can't win away and have absolutely no team identity or discipline.

Effing up at home would be less of an issue if we were the type of team that could go on the road and do the business there instead.

But we appear equally as incompetent and impotent at home and away.

Fernandes will probably keep him despite Warnock, rightly, being sacked for less, though, just to prove a point to us armchair critics who clearly know less about football than he does.

In which case it wasn't bricked or fractured. There is absolutely no way you can run, let alone play football with a bust rib. The injury must be a strain or very minor complication

I always like to spread risk and play safe. Doubling in midfield works well when the team scores and plays well. If they dont the falls equally far.

Silva has underperformed has not had a chance to be fit yet, like Mata was at the beginning of the season- but now Mata has over-performed for a few gameweeks= bound to drop off.

People who get Silva in early will reap the value of his current differential status. Maybe this is just my strategy, but I much rather have a guy who has not scored for a while and looks like he has under performed. Than to go for a guy who has had some incredible performances which he is unlikely to repeat during this season, and a high ownership.

Thing is you could afford to miss his first return to form which is a better prospect than getting him and watch him continue at 2.6 per game imo.

For each their own, I am prepared to take those risks for the differential value. If you look at my team than I have mad 1 or 2 of similar moves before:

Jelly in for the SOT game straight after injury for 2 goals and an assist( had not scored any points in the 3 previous gameweeks(injured for 1)

Ba in for GW3- nice run after that( had scored 1 goal in GW1)

But of course these things can backfire like me getting Ade and McClean in GW 3. But I am more than willing to take that risk, since if a differ scores for you especially as a C, than you are flying up the rankings.

first and last team related post of the day.

2FT and 0.5m in the bank so need to use and FT or lose it.

    Mig
    Baines, Saylor, Hughes
    Caz, Bale, Pienaar, Nolan
    RvP, Ba, Berba

    Bego, Sterling, Gorkss, Wilson

    I am keeping Cazorla
Wilson can stay on the bench
If Berba is ruled out, Sterling will play.

Oscar ... The guy has a good scoring record in Europe, had a good record in the Liga do Brasil and is in just as advanced position as Mata and Hazard but is clearly behind points wise. Is he due or is something just not clicking. He's a fair bit cheaper than the other two - worth spending that bit extra or going with the Brazilian and investing the extra elsewhere?

I think he is due for sure, but at the same time he seems to be preferred over Lamps for the difficult fixtures for his defensive abilities and general work rate. But Lamps will probably play the easy home games, where you would expect the majority of your production from your players.

    baines cuellar clyne WILSON DEMEL
    sterling bale caz nolan michu
    rvp ba BERBA

i have 1ft and 2.8m in bank. initial plan was one change nolan to mata with 0.0m in the bank. mata will probably rise tonight so i will need to act quick.

what would you do with this team if you was in my position? still do nolan to mata or wait on BERBA,DEMEL,WILSON????
