The midweek Capital One Cup ties lit up our week like a firework. Although some teams fielded second string potential over their star talent, Fantasy football’s movers and shakers were still smashing the goals in. Luis Suarez, Gareth Bale, Eden Hazard and a certain Theo Walcott were all in bloom. The question now is whether the midweek goal avalanche will spill over into our weekend’s Premier League action, or will they all get a “touch of the Sunderland’s”?

As always, our “Flutter” selections demand goals from some of our Scout Picks starlets, so let’s see how kind Paddy have been with the markets we threw their way…

Gareth Bale is yet to “explode” as a Fantasy asset and yet he has still managed three goals and three assists. Opponents are perhaps all too familiar with his by-line dashes and weaving runs into the centre and often double up in an attempt to neutralise the Welshman’s galloping runs. The new dad looks to have taken his game to another level of late, though, dominating much of the midweek tie at Norwich – Spurs’ eventual defeat will leave a bitter taste and with a tired Wigan outfit turning up at the Lane, Bale looks good for returns. We’re going to bite Paddy’s hand off for 4/1 on a Bale goal and a Spurs cleanie in this one, so £6 of our tenner is spent.

Whilst Reading suffered embarrassment to Arsene Wenger’s resurgent youngsters, QPR put their feet up and counted the goals flying in with a wry smile. The R’s now play host to the battered Royals on Sunday, hoping the visit of Brian McDermott’s beleaguered outfit hands them the perfect chance to notch a first league win. Adel Taarabt is backed in the Picks this week and Paddy have the Moroccan to score with a QPR clean-sheet at 11/2. Although at first glance this seems a little skinny, fatigue may well put pounds in our pockets as we place £2 of our tenner on this.

West Brom’s James Morrison finds himself right up there with some of the Fantasy heavyweights this term as he revels in his new attacking role behind the lone striker. The Baggies have collected four clean-sheets, whilst Morrison has profited from three assists and two goals thus far. Scout Pick Morrison is 7/1 to score and help make a fifth clean-sheet on Monday against Southampton, and with stats on our side we’re willing to risk a couple of quid on the longer odd.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

    Bego (Jussi)
    Baines Gallas Cuellar (Gorkss Davies)
    Bale Santi Walters Nolan (Guthrie)
    RVP (C) Suarez Ba

3 players either doubtful or out. Worst case scenario, Cuellar, Ba and Guthrie dont feature and I'm forced into a 442 with Gorkss & Davies.

    Should I
    A) Ba to Defoe and captain (gut says he will score at least 1 against Wigan) potential 12 upside
    or
    B) Nolan to Taraabt (better option than Nolan over next 3 weeks but doesnt do much for the inadequate subs issue)
    C) Both for a hit

    Any advice welcomed.

Ba is a long term keeper in my opinion, so I'd keep him. I would save the transfer to be honest. City's defence has exactly been outstanding this season and I can see the Hammers getting one + Nolan's record at home this season has been impressive to save the least. Save the trannie IMO

Well, I'm going for Tony V as a differential in my WC team. It will either earn me some nice points with Utd's upcoming slate of fixtures or it will fail miserably like everything else I've done this season.

Left enough to get Mata back in, but Chelsea's next few matches are nowhere nice as Utd's and I think now I have to be a bit bold chasing down an 81 pt lead.

Hey Nomar, looking for some 'fan' insight....what are your thoughts on bringing in Taarabt this week? Is he seemingly nailed on in the first team now, and is he the best pick from your guys? Cheers

Ps, good luck with Tony V - reckon he'll deliver consistent, but not explosive returns.

My ML rival has Hazard so I need a differential. Bought in Mata this week but i can't see him being risked now and can also see him dropping this week.

Last thing I need on a WC is to bring in players who are going to drop in price, especially as my budget is just a tad over £100m.

Valencia has enough good fixtures to be able to get me a steady stream of points over the next few weeks. If it fails, well, I've had such a bad start this season that I'm kind of half expecting it now anyway.

I would be very happy playing Taarabt. In he end I have gone McAnuff as I don't want to jinx an important QPR player as everyone I touch in FPL seems to immediately fail the moment I buy them.

Which to bring in this week?

        a) Sterling (NEW, WIG, SOT, AVL, FUL, qpr)
        b) Taarabt (REA, SOT, AVL, FUL, WBA, LIV)

The fixtures I'd start them in up until the Jan wildcard are above...

Taarabt is likely to score a few goals in that run in. I'd gamble on the Moroccan.

Sterling the safer option for sure.....

          Taarabt could explode though....

        Bale or RVP for C?

Thought it was obviously Bale but poll seems to suggest it should be RVP......

Good luck lads. I shall consult the stats before making a final call on the Bale RVP captaincy debate. So far its Bale and I expect it will remain that way. Stay classy scouts
