The midweek Capital One Cup ties lit up our week like a firework. Although some teams fielded second string potential over their star talent, Fantasy football’s movers and shakers were still smashing the goals in. Luis Suarez, Gareth Bale, Eden Hazard and a certain Theo Walcott were all in bloom. The question now is whether the midweek goal avalanche will spill over into our weekend’s Premier League action, or will they all get a “touch of the Sunderland’s”?

As always, our “Flutter” selections demand goals from some of our Scout Picks starlets, so let’s see how kind Paddy have been with the markets we threw their way…

Gareth Bale is yet to “explode” as a Fantasy asset and yet he has still managed three goals and three assists. Opponents are perhaps all too familiar with his by-line dashes and weaving runs into the centre and often double up in an attempt to neutralise the Welshman’s galloping runs. The new dad looks to have taken his game to another level of late, though, dominating much of the midweek tie at Norwich – Spurs’ eventual defeat will leave a bitter taste and with a tired Wigan outfit turning up at the Lane, Bale looks good for returns. We’re going to bite Paddy’s hand off for 4/1 on a Bale goal and a Spurs cleanie in this one, so £6 of our tenner is spent.

Whilst Reading suffered embarrassment to Arsene Wenger’s resurgent youngsters, QPR put their feet up and counted the goals flying in with a wry smile. The R’s now play host to the battered Royals on Sunday, hoping the visit of Brian McDermott’s beleaguered outfit hands them the perfect chance to notch a first league win. Adel Taarabt is backed in the Picks this week and Paddy have the Moroccan to score with a QPR clean-sheet at 11/2. Although at first glance this seems a little skinny, fatigue may well put pounds in our pockets as we place £2 of our tenner on this.

West Brom’s James Morrison finds himself right up there with some of the Fantasy heavyweights this term as he revels in his new attacking role behind the lone striker. The Baggies have collected four clean-sheets, whilst Morrison has profited from three assists and two goals thus far. Scout Pick Morrison is 7/1 to score and help make a fifth clean-sheet on Monday against Southampton, and with stats on our side we’re willing to risk a couple of quid on the longer odd.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

Won't really matter at the end of the season but good win for the Knicks. Lakers look in a lot of trouble right now. They need to get rid of that poor excuse for a coach Mike Brown. Couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag!

Potentially Lucrative gamble VS a reliable goalscorer.

Defoe isn't a punt IMO. As you have bale, lukaku could be worth a punt against a poor travelling Southampton team.

Defoe edges it for me. Although it keeps the interest going until Monday night

Entirely up to you. I like to feel it is best to have people picking up points throughout the team. You can guarantee some players will not perform every week so you have someone else who can. If you limit that by having 5 players unlikely to score decent points you are less likely to get a decent score overall.

Sell a Chelsea mid, I would say Hazard but it has to be Mata since he's an injury doubt. I'd get a cheap midfielder like Sterling to bench most weeks.

Get rid of Pog, he's crap. Berbatov is good value.

In defence have a look at getting some players from better teams, Rafael and Sagna for example. Change your sub keeper to McCarthy since he will play unlike Cerny.

I think it's still worth having Chelsea despite fixtures. Very good picks though.

No Bale or Mata, but then that's obvious. These guys are fixture proof - too much emphasis given to fixtures, not enough to form

And your midfield will mostly have better fixtures next week. Tricky decision but I wouldn't get rid of Mata.

If you really need to make a change don't you think Mata to Bale would be better?

For this week yes. But what about his to next fixtures. You can't buy spurs now

As Hearts says above, most of your mid will have good fixtures next week. I don't know, if you have a plan for the money raised by Sterling then I guess it's an option but it might be best just to do nothing and hope for the best.

Noble or Lallana to start? Have a hunch MC will concede to WH and with Noble on pens, he could profit? Thoughts?

    Foster
    Baines, McAuley, Riise
    Duff, Pienaar, Hazard, Michu
    RVP, Suarez, Ba

    Shawcross, Cameron, Sterling

Should I play any of the 3 benchies over any of the starters?

    Thanks!

Yes, I'd spread your odds and play Shawx for one of McAuley (you have Foster), Pienaar or Ba (I think he'll start from the bench). Nice team though.

Thoughts on Ryan Bertrand as a 5th defender?

Basically, I don't expect other defenders at the 4.3m and less price point to get me more than 1 or 2 points. Now that Bertrand is fit again, if I knew he'd make regular bench appearances and the occasional LB and LW start then I'd be all aboard. What do we think?

The alternative is save the FT and dowgrade Cazorla (say to Walcott) to upgrade Demel to a 4.5-5m defender next week. Am worried about fielding 11 this week though.

    Cheers!

I can see the argument for it but there are much better options available for 0.2 more.
