Entry to the seventh FFS Paddy Power Cup closes this evening – you must have your team entered by 8pm tonight to be considered for the Qualifying Round. The tournament is free to enter and there are prizes for the top three teams, plus the Quarter Finalists will qualify for our first Fantasy Football Scout Shield later in the season.

The Paddy Power Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager highest in the overall standing will progress.

Results from the Qualifying Round will be calculated once the FPL has fully updated the game for Gameweek 10.

Read on for details on the Paddy Power cup but, if you’re a veteran, you can go straight here to make your entry.

When does it start?

The qualifying round takes place in Gameweek 10. All entries received before 8pm on Monday November 5 will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 1024 qualifiers for the first round – those 1018 (plus 6 previous winners who earn a bye) with the top scores in Gameweek 10 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 11. Again, FPL standing will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

How do I enter?

Simply fill out the entry form here. You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry. You can also check that you are entered via this list.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published on Tuesday November 6

What is the Gameweek Schedule

Each round of the Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 10
  • Round 1 – 1024 teams – Gameweek 11
  • Round 2 – 512 teams – Gameweek 12
  • Round 3 – 256 teams – Gameweek 13
  • Gameweek 14 – Break
  • Round 4 – 128 teams – Gameweek 15
  • Round 5 – 64 teams – Gameweek 16
  • Round 6 – 32 teams – Gameweek 17
  • Round 7 – 16 teams – Gameweek 18
  • Gameweek 19 – Break
  • Quarter-Finals – 8 teams – Gameweek 20
  • Gameweek 21 – Break
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 22
  • The Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 23

When are the fixtures released?

The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the Quarter-Finalists from this tournament will gain entry to the Fantasy Football Scout Shield where they will play the eight Quarter-Finalists from this season’s Members Cup. Should any team qualify for the Shield from both Cup tournaments, then the highest scoring losing team from the last sixteen of either cup will gain entry to complete the FFS Shield entries.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 or over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Was thinking about taking a 12 point hit to overhaul my strike force. Falling every week and patience just isn't working out. Current team is:

    Begovic (Foster)
    Rafael Baines Santon (Gorkss)(Cuellar)
    HBA Morrison Bale Puncheon (Sterling)
    RVP Defoe Aguero

    Transfers:
    Defoe, Aguero, Morrison & Foster>
    Ba, Rooney, Fellaini & Cerny

    Leaves 0.0.

    Thoughts?

Theres never good reasoning for 12 point hits. Aguero will come good. Just get rid of Defoe and take it from there. Ba is injured, RVP is far superior to Rooney and Cerny doesnt even play at all.

The RVP Rooney combination could be the gamble that if it pays off will push you up the rankings quickly. 12 points is too much though. What about just Defoe and Aguero to Ba and Suarez/Tevez. Not the most exiting moves but the rest is not bad, and it will save you eight points.

I was extremely happy to see him scoring yesterday because he was becoming my auto-sub for Saylor, but Pardew decides to play him... not much in it until I say that I trade on Saturday(so I wouldn´t lose value) Saylor for Simpson who wasn´t a starter yesterday 😕 All in all, a massive 15 point hit!

This season and last I've always done them early and its never backfired.

Well, it sort of did once last season when Kompany got sent off in an FA cup game but I just used my Jan wildcard and got Dempsey in for a hat trick so it all worked out just fine.

Late transfers can just as easily backfire. I waited on buying Bale, his price went up and then his wife went into labour. But there's definitely more chance of an early transfer backfiring.

Final question of the day ahead of tonight's McAuley masterclass.

Play whom from the following next week?

    A) Davies (Southampton away)
    B) Berbatov (Arsenal away)
    C) Sterling (Chelsea away)
    D) McAuley (Wigan away)

Can't back a home clean sheet at the moment, let alone an away one.

And Sterling isn't going to trouble anyone at the Bridge sadly.

fairly conclusive that one. One of those sort of, once I'd read it out loud it sounded a bit ridiculous, sort of questions.

Spurs have 4 TOUGH away games in the next 6. Arsenal have 4 decent home games, plus an away trip to avl in the same period. I know that Bale has a good away record, but surely this suggests that I should downgrade Bale rather than Carzola for RVP? Neither side (or player) is in great form

Bale score 16 points away to United. Tottenham vs Arsenal is always high scoring, and I can see lots of goals int he City game too. I think you will live to regret it if you sell him now.

I'd say you've got to test whether Bale's success away continues before shipping him out. I can certainly see him tearing holes in City's defence weakened by injuries. Looking at the wider gameplan, City have been very vulnerable to pressing and pace this year (Dortmund, Ajax) and AVB will be setting his team out in a similar pressing 4-3-3. They are in poor form and could be shocked.

I actually did Santi -> Bale this weekend. Even though it backfired, long run i just see Bale as a superior FPL prospect, even though i totally rate Cazorla as a footballer. Its just had to bring points when theres not one single able finisher in your team.

    Evening everyone.

    Begovic (Jaaskelainen)
Baines - Evans - XXX (Gunter - Cuellar - Rangel)
Bale - Mata - Pienaar - Michu (Sterling)
Van Persie - Ba - Lukaku

Who to fill in that third defensive spot with? and save FT or would you make a change?

save the FT. I try and avoid using a single FT on a defender swap and only make defender changes as part of a double change, when it's to get in an attacking defender (Baines, Ivan, Rafael) or when injury demands it.

    Bego (Jussi)
    Clyne Baines McAuley (Clark, Demel)
    Bale Cazorla Mata Michu (Sterling)
    RVP Ba Berbatov

    0.1m in the bank

Returning to whoever posted the Ramsey injury link:
    http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/injured-ramsey-ruled-out-of-schalke-trip

Could this finally be what forces Wenger to play Walcott? Ramsey has been playing RM for ages simply because Walcott has not agreed a new contract IMO. This surely would be the final straw.

If I hear encouraging sounds about a Walcott start, he's coming in next week.

Jesus. Imagine a side with both Sterling AND Walcott in it. You'd have 2 players bursting through on goal at will, only to exchange passes that go increasingly behind each other until they slowly retreat back into their own half where they are tackled meekly and scored against...

Can't believe you captained him. That basically wins you the order of extreme valour for this week.

I rather harshly said Cazorla might turn out like an FPL Ramsey two weeks ago - he's obviously infinitely more skilled but ran the risk of being the 3rd, 4th etc man to touch the ball before it going in.

I like it. Although I would consider dropping HBA instead. As long as Pards continues to play a 4 4 2. HBA's attacking returns will be constricted in my opinion. And looking at Swanseas next 6, I can see Michu outscoring him. So perhaps Cole, HBA, Torres out instead?

I`ll be keeping Ben Arfa for the moment, mostly beacause i have more pressing matters to deal with. However, if Cabaye and Ba is out, he`ll surely have to be more influential, and will be on all set pieces. Have a little patience, imo

If Yohan and Demba are out, Ameobi will come in with Anita and Tiote (once suspension is served) in the middle. Will still mean HBA is on the right, still a 4 4 2, and will still score less than Michu in the upcoming fixtures. Yes HBA maybe more influencial if Cabaye is out, but Michu will score more I reckon. Especially as well, if Papiss continues to strugle to find the net

Barfa out, not a fan of him in a 4-4-2 despite fixtures. Michu up front and looking dangerous, unlucky not to have a few goals vs City and Chelsea, far superior to HBA for FPL.

"Always seem to come against the one person that has done just that little bit better in the week despite a worse rank"

Isn't that what H2H is all about? 😆 Hope you enjoy that, I've been burnt so many times...

Yeah I know thats what its about. I don't even mean rank, I mean coming up against the one person who doesn't give a shit and gets lucky with a stupid captain choice..

If i'm sounding bitter I don't mean to, its actually pretty funny!

Yes, when Lampard isn't playing. Lampard is a liability and shouldn't be playing but the squad is small.

    RMT gents,

    Foster, Jussi
    Baines, Rangel, Shawcross, Hangeland, McCartney
    Cazorla, Nolan, Fellani, Michu, Sterling
    RVP, Berb, Tevez

Best way to improve on this for next week?

Picking a starting 11 from that would be painful for me. Personally i would downgrade nolan to a cheepy considering their fixtures or Jussi and you will have some spare cash going forward.

Unless you absolutely have to, theres no good reason to do transfers on a monday. Unless you like the thrill of waiting through a week of training and CL football to see if they or anybody else in your team gets injured, the clever thing to do is wait,

if you get Rafa now, you'll be worrying during the Champions League game. Do HBA to Feillaini now and the second transfer later if you can
