Somebody once said “A little knowledge can be dangerous” (Einstein, if you are interested) and, in the context of the suspension tightrope this week, we’ve seen this profound maxim played out before our very eyes as Michu and Marouane Fellaini racked up their fourth week of suspended animation in the weekend fixtures.

Both players still sit a single indiscretion from a one-match ban, though, and although Swansea’s Spanish number nine negotiated his home encounter with Chelsea with just a two point return, the towering Belgian notched a double to serve those of us who gave him too wide a berth a severe lesson. While our pair of protagonists look forward to a decent run of fixtures, Fantasy managers are understandably cautious of investment, given the duo’s Tightrope balancing act.

Fulham defender-cum-midfielder, Chris Baird has been the object of desire for over 100,000 Fantasy managers in the last two Gameweeks, thanks largely to his back-to-back goals against Villa and Reading. The out of position prospect delivered a cautionary note to his new owners this week, however, after receiving his fourth yellow card of the season in the Craven Cottage draw with Everton. Pulled up for an unfair challenge on Steven Pienaar, the Northern Irishman will now join the Tightrope party ahead of the visit to Arsenal in Gameweek 11, while his suitors now face an anxious wait.

Chelsea pair David Luiz and Ramires are not strictly new additions to the funambulist’s fraternity, though both flashed brightly on our disciplinary radar this week. The duo missed out on first-team duties at Swansea on Saturday – a place on the bench greeted Ramires, while Luiz was ruled out with an ankle injury, but they will be wary of further sanction in their next forays after accruing their fourth cautions in the Capital One Cup win over United in midweek. It’s therefore an interesting proposition this Sunday as, if fit and selected, the Brazilians will face up against fellow tightrope resident Luis Suárez – all three bidding to avoid an enforced rest.

The final pairing to be picked out this week highlight the future risks within the otherwise investable West Ham defence. As the cheapest back line to muster a season-leading four clean sheets, West Ham continue to blink wildly with solid budget options – as this week’s shut out of the Champions showed, the tricky fixtures ahead may still reap reward in this area. Sitting pretty in the centre of that defence, and the upper echelons of the Fantasy point charts, James Collins and Winston Reid would leave a large hole behind should they fall foul of a sanction, and while the likes of Jordan Spence would step in, injuries to James Tomkins and Guy Demel already have the Hammers’ backline stretched.

For the full list of those now with four cautions to their name, the tightrope widget in the right-hand sidebar is the place to visit.

Crossing to the other side of the line, a few new faces put themselves in hot water this week, and will now serve immediate bans. A straight red card for Fabricio Coloccini, following dangerous play in the vicinity of Mr Suárez will see him suspended for the next three fixtures (WHM, SWA, sot). A pair of yellow cards for an over exuberant Jack Wilshere against Manchester United will put him straight back in the Emirates stands for the visit of Fulham, while an accumulation of yellow cards for Aston Villa defender Eric Lichaj, despite only starting three league games this season, has amounted to five and a ban for the upcoming visit of United. Those 3 will join Stéphane M’Bia (second of three matches) and Cheick Tioté (last of three) in missing gameweek eleven.

Gibbs (unfit?) - Gorkss/McCartney/Nelsen and upgrade Routledge to Ramirez/Lallana/Hernandez/Fellaini/Pienaar ? Could even upgrade Kaca to Maloney/Sterling/McAnuff

Routledge to Maloney maybe, 2 Swansea mids is too much. Gives you a wee bit more cash towards upgrading Lambert.

    2nd post...more opinions please

    Rate my WC team please:

    Begovic Tremmel
    Rafael Cameron Cuellar Gorkss McCartney
    Cazorla Mata Fellaini Michu Maloney
    RVP Tevez Ba

Any suggestions? Anyone I’m missing who you’d say is essential, especially till the Jan WC?

I considered the following – any you would go through with?

    A) Rafael and Begovic — Sagna and De Gea (given that I already have Cameron and am doubling up on Stoke)

    B) Michu and Maloney — Lallana/Ramirez and Hernandez of Swansea

    C) Rafael, Michu and Maloney — Mertersacker, Valencia and 4.7m

    D) Michu and McCartney -- Hernandez/Ramirez/Lallana and Mertesacker

I've tried to persist with Aguero, and tried to take solace in the low ownership in the hope he will come good, but rotation with Mancini is just to much of an issue. I've held on to Aguero for a number of weeks now. Tevez seems like a more solid FPL player week in week out, but his ownership has sky rocketed and I didn't feel like going back to Tevez. I think Aguero will get around 20 goals and will start to fire sooner or later and when he does, ownership will soon be up. But bare in mind also, that other strikers will score around that mark, so is it really worth holding onto Aguero?

I don't think its a bad idea to look elsewhere and try and spend money to strengthen, especially if you have van Persie. At one point I had Aguero, van Persie and Suarez. I've spent a lot of points over the weeks to try and get a team I'm settled on. I now have it and I'm happy. My position in the leagues are wank, but hey ho, I will start to rise now.

Aguero had to go to make it happen.

The time to let him go was the WHam game, but now I am so tempted to keep him for the Spurs game. He has the same chance to earn pts as RVP against Villa. The game against Spurs will be a goal fest and VIlla could keep it tight. He will surely start against Spurs. They play Tuesday than Sunday then again next Sat. He won't be rested for the Spurs game.

Surely a brace upcoming? His underlying stats are wonderful too. They struggle to score goals so even Manicni knows that he needs to start. Ballo is out of shape, Tevez has 1 goal in 5 and Dzeko is better as an impact sub.

I know I will feel furious if I sell him this week and he scores the inevitable brace at the w/e. One more week for me, one more week. After that I will reconsider.

      Thoughts?
P.S. Him on 7% and captain vs RVP blank will mean huge huge upturn in the ranking. So its a huge call, with big high risk/reward.

I want Rafael. He's the only player I don't have and that I don't know how to get. Basically, I don't have Ba either but I know exactly how I'm getting him.

It's either bale or caz to michu or Nolan and then upgrade a 4 def to rafa or else a straight baines to rafa. Not mad about either.

        +1

I'm a Rafael owner and fear for game time when Jones & Smalling come back. Hopefully Utd win in Braga this week and they can get a run out in the CL remaining games at least. The good thing is both can play CB and Jones also.

Rafa is however definitely first choice.

If Man City go out in the group stages (it looks likely)....then I think Aguero is a must after that point, rotation won't be as bad, and he will start a lot more in the league with less games and attention on Europe.

fair enough if they finish 4th, but if they end up in the Europa League I think City will aim to win it therefore play strong lineups.

City are a tricky one right now because other than Hart, Kompany & yaya (none of which are that attractive from an FPL pov) it is hard to predict their first XI.

Alright guys, just wildcarded after a shocking GW. Is this an improvement?

    Previous team:
    Mignolet 4.0
    Baines Cole Coloccini Williams Tomkins
    Hazard Cazorla Bale Pienaar Sterling
    Berbatov Tevez Fletcher

    Wildcard team:
    Mignolet McCarthy
    Baines Rafael Cameron Nelsen Davies
    Hazard Bale Sterling Maloney Pienaar
    Berbatov Tevez RVP

Needed a way to get RVP in before united's fixtures turn amazing. Felt my team (apart from defense) was decent beforehand though. Not sure if i've fucked around with i too much. What do you guys think?

What's the verdict on how badly Coloccini's absence will hit the Magpies? A Newcastle defender is the obvious choice fixtures-wise to slot in alongside Cuellar, Cameron, Hughes and Baines - sorts me out for the next 16 barring injuries....BUT, I'd want to play whichever Newcastle defender I got in the next two GWs, and their main man is out for them.
