Javier Hernandez is the hero for United after climbing off the bench to turn the game around at Villa Park. The Mexican’s double and assist earned the visitors a stunning 3-2 victory, while Andreas Weimann also bagged a brace for the beaten hosts:

On the Up

Javier Hernandez
Sent on as a sub after half-time, his introduction proved the difference for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side. Hernandez produced two goals and assist as United came from two down – Ron Vlaar was credited with an own goal for the second, after the Mexican’s strike was deemed to be off target before a deflection helped it into the Villa net.

Andreas Weimann
A peripheral figure in the Villa set-up of late, the Austrian was handed his first start since Gameweek 4 this evening. Weimann notched both Villa’s goals and has surely staked a claim for a regular role, bearing in mind that the hosts had previously scored more than a single goal just once in their opening 10 matches.

Christian Benteke
Having supplied attacking returns in each of his previous two, the Belgian maintained his strong recent form with an assist for Weimann’s opener. The skill and strength displayed in bettering Chris Smalling and composure to set up the Austrian, allied with his current form, has more than vindicated Paul Lambert’s decision to start Benteke over Darren Bent.

Going Down

United Defence
Once again, United’s backline failed to keep out their opponents. Villa had scored just twice in their four league matches prior to this evening but Weimann’s strike just before the break means United have now trailed in seven of their 11 league matches – as this evening’s game showed, grinding out results is simply not an option for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.

Ashley Young
He’d played 90 minutes in the previous wins over Chelsea and Arsenal but an insipid first-half display against his former club saw the winger subbed off for Hernandez at the break. With a single assist to his name this term, Young is showing little to suggest he deserves a regular role for the league leaders.

I will wait for Walcott News,

But Cazorla> Walcott playing upfront is a given for me.

I will then use the extra $ to get Evans in for Sagna

Walcott smashed the back end of last season. Now hes even playing further up front which gives him added risk.

Caz is good but i cant see him getting more than a goal or an assist each game. Walcott will be a bigger threat up front. My only concern is he is slightly injury prone.

iye, he does like to get injured. vengers a bit temperamental with him don't you think. I dont get the impression he'll play week in week out, caz will. That and caz is just alot beter than him, in the hole behind a forward who is looking like he might be able to score after 11gws

Rafael crossed the ball to Hernandez who volleyed the ball into Vlaar and it went in the goal. It was called an own goal because it the shot was deemed to not be on target.

Rafael's cross was met by Chicha. He hit the ball and it deflected DF before going in the goal.

I had Guthrie for the first 9 weeks and it was frustrating to have no attacking cover for when one of my front 7 didn't play. Taarabt is hardly that expensive either at 5.5m. That said, I'm sure there'll be week when whichever of my 8 is on the bench scores well and i miss out.

I feel like money isn't as big of an issue this year, so to keep a 7m defender who is on pens and free kicks (even if he isn't producing) isn't a huge risk, and not worth a tinkering transfer. His cash may one day be needed, but right now the richest team isn't really the best team, so Baines stays.

Who did you sell him for? and what will you do with the cash?

Ok he can bring the pts surely. But he can't win my mini league. I can always find some guy with CS in the same time. He can match him for 2 - 3 less money. He isn;t Che. Utd, City defender after all

Anyway, as I'm keeping, thanks for selling 🙂

Baines "never produces"? He's had 54 points, second only to Ivanovic (who hasn't done well either in the last couple of weeks.

Pricey? Yes. But could it be that our expectations are a little high when we're reading to dump a proven player like Baines so quickly?

I tried to set up team for next week and found selection dilemma as follow:

1: play Begovic (whu) or Foster (CHE) ? .. The injury might help on this decision.

    2: which 3 DFs to play ? .. 3 at home, but ...
Demel (STK), Nelsen (SOT), Gorkss (EVE), Baines (rdg), Rafael (nor)

3: would you bench any of these four and play Sterling (WIG) ?
Mata (wba), Fellaini (rdg), Bale (ars), Santi (TOT)

    Your opinion please.

    Bale, Santi, Fellaini, Michu, Taarabt
    RVP, Ba, Berba

Gotta be between Michu (new) and Taarabt (SOT) I guess. Michu currently on the bench, which just feels wrong given he's playing up front. Have to play Taarabt in that fixture right?

I've had enough of this shit... I'm gonna use my WC... I had planned to do it earlier to catch Fellaini's rise, but I couldn't even get that right...

I admit defeat in the championing of Pienaar earlier in the season, and Lambert has to go for Berbatov... and I can only do this with an 8/12pt hit, so I might as well take this chance to get Cuellar in for his good run etc etc...

A little advice from you guys as who else I should be considering... thanks...

    Tremmel* Begovic
    Baines Rafael Cuellar* Gorkss* McCartney*
    Mata Bale Fellaini* Michu Sterling
