Anthony Pilkington earns the points for Norwich with a superb headed effort extending his side’s unbeaten run to five. Robin Van Persie fails to score or assist for the first time as a starter for United, with the Canaries resilient defence proving too good for the most prolific attack in the Premier League:

Going Up

Norwich Defence
The Canaries came into this evening’s game having conceded a single goal in their previous four Gameweeks but the visit of United was considered a real test of their resolve. A 1-0 win continued their upturn in resilience as Chris Hughton’s influence starts to have a real effect – they now have five clean sheets this term, three more than this evening’s beaten opponents.

Anthony Pilkington
His first goal of the campaign was enough to produce the points for the hosts. Norwich have not tasted defeat since a 4-1 battering at Chelsea in Gameweek 7 and while they may not score many – netting more than once on a single occasion so far – Hughton’s side concede even less; the opposite of last season’s form under former boss Paul Lambert.

Going Down

United Defence
David De Gea was given the day off after a trip to the dentist caused problems but Anders Lindegaard could do little about Pilkington’s excellent headed winner. United have now conceded first in eight of their 12 matches and for once, their attack was unable to bail them out.

United Attack
Tonsillitis kept Wayne Rooney out of the reckoning and with Javier Hernandez selected to start, Robin Van Persie dropped a little deeper. Having racked up 29 goals in the previous 10, with at least two goals per game over that run, the visitors were snuffed out for the first time since Gameweek 1. Three favourable fixtures in the next four look set to offer Van Persie a chance to rectify tonight’s blip – this was the first time he has failed to produce a goal or assist when starting a league game for United.

Good man El Captan Aguero, pity I took Suarez out for Rooney after the Merseyside Derby.

Still, I have confidence Rooney's home form* will cause a stir or two in the next two weeks.

*It's stronger then RVP's at home..

Made my transfers early for once: Ba --> Tevez / Fellaini --> J. Morrison.

Tevez is looking essential, regretting taking him out 5 or so weeks ago. Morrison could be a decent differential, plus this gives me the funds to finally upgrade Guthrie for Maloney next week 🙂

Morrison has bad fixtures i have him and will only be playing him once out of the next 4 gameweeks, looking to get rid. Don't know why you did Ba-Tevez this week, Ba has sou, the worst defense in the league, Tevez has che. Sorry but terrible transfers imo!!

West Brom are in excellent form though, if Sunderland fail to get a result tomorrow I can really seem them having a simpler job next weekend. Swansea's defence is hardly prolific and Stoke aren't too good on the road.

Newcastle on the other hand aren't in the best form, I can honestly see them maybe getting a scrappy 1-0 / 2-0 at best. Tevez is my only City cover currently and Chelsea's defence isn't too good without Terry.

I'm operating on gut feelings here though haha. I had a gut feeling Reading would beat Everton today and that gut feeling won me £30 so I have hope.

    Advice for the new week?

    Bego (Schwarz)
    Baines Rafael Cameron Cuellar (Simpson)
    Sterling Mata(c) Bale (Morrison, Fellaini)
    Suarez (vc) Tevez Berbs

    1FT 0.5 in bank.
Not looking so good.. Not really happy with my captain options. Bale to Puncheon, Tevez to RVP? Find it very difficult to drop tevez after 16 points!!

I've also got Baines and Rafael........2 of my lowest scoring players from the last few week. I'm thinking that that much investment in defense doesn't make sense anymore. that said.........I still think it's a tough decision to drop any of your front 3 for RVP

They have been frustrating recently but I certainly wont be getting rid of Baines as ive had him cheap since gw1. Baines i am considering swapping to enrique gw15.

Really undecided on RVP, don't think I want him unless Tevez starts getting rotated alot. Would love to have him for Uniteds bounce back against QPR, but Tevez and Bale I think long run is better than RVP and Puncheon?

My point_this site encompasses FF therefore if it's going to cater for SKY players and other formats fpl players will have to cater for people that want to win £25 000 and not be so ingenious to them that don't play that particular FFgame.

I'm benching Fellaini but this is Baines last week unless he goes nuts against Norwich.

I could have had Tevez up front this week instead of crappy Hernandez if I wasn't wasn't 7m+ on Baines.

I'm choosing my defensive players based on attacking potential this season. only 3 CS so far this week and I would have only put money on one of them. Decision for me is to invest in players like Baines for attacking potential or just give up on defenders, get 5 cheapies and invest the money elsewhere.

First time ive ever asked for advice but this week has been a headscratcher so id like to hear your opinions:

    Bego (Jussi)
    Baines Gallas Hange (Clyne, McCartney)
Bale Ben Arfa Sterling Pienaar (Fellaini)
    RVP Berba Tevez

This is the team for next week, 1 FT and £2.0 in the bank, any advice/ critism is welcome

Fellaini already got attacking points against ManU and Liverpool this term, and all 3 of those sides coming up are prone to letting goals in this year. IMO Fellaini is fixture proof

That was all set to be the transfer but looking at next weeks games and now the suspension and fixtures of Everton suddenly Fellaini to Walcott is looking tempting.

Then can do Barfa to Silva via downgrading Baines next week

Looking at the fixtures, there is a strong chance Mata could be rested against Fulham.

    Tuesday - Juve (A)
    Sunday - City (H)
    Wednesday - Fulham (H)
Saturday - West Ham (A) (early kick off)

After that, he is away to Suderland and then has a blank.

    Something to consider...

I guess, the whole CL scenario doesn't help them though, inbetween the Fulham and West Ham fixture they could have a crucial game depending on the result in Turin.

Anyone else think RVP really isn't THAT important. Im very happy with Tevez Suarez and Berbs upfront. Tev and Sua always good captain candidates. And not having RVP allows me to have an extra big hitter in midfield instead of Puncheon

I think there's some merit to this, yes. Plenty of good forward options now and it does free up a fair bit of cash. I have RVP, Tevez and Berbs but wouldn't be averse to doing RVP > Suarez.

Yeah, I don't see this happening though. Unless Mancini decides to pair Aguero with Dzeko, and he's better as an impact sub. I don't see Tevez as a rotation risk at all.

Well I shipped out Ba AND Michu last night to bring in RVP! OUCH! DOUBLE OUCH!

But somehow I'm relieved I fiinally had the guts to do it for the simple fact that I'm sick and tire of the likes of Berbs and Tevez and Podolskis and Ba's going on dry spells for weeks. Which has happened and will surely happen again. Even Suarez's good fortune will the rough.

And so, I will be crossing my fingers and hoping that the Dutchman continues with his flawless form that saw him bringing in attacking points every single gwk past, bar this one.

      (low nervous laugh here)

I agree actually even though i am RVP owner. The prices seem to be about right, RVP is obviously obscenely expensive but is very consistant and usually a very safe captaincy choice, but you can get a very good balance without him for sure
