Once again we roll out the weekly regular to assess the “strength of schedule” over the next four to six Gameweeks. With confidence flowing after Gameweek 12 victories, both Sunderland and Southampton will be buoyed by some enticing home matches on the horizon, while United and Arsenal also square up to potentially prosperous fixtures. On the flipside, Everton and West Ham look set for rough rides, with Chelsea and City also provided with stern short-term tests….

Sunderland

An upturn in fixtures coincides with a confidence-boosting win at Fulham for the Black Cats. With four home games in the next four, including a double Gameweek 16 (WBA, QPR, nor, CHE & RDG), many Fantasy managers will be prepared to snap up one or two of Sunderland’s assets. Certainly, their home defensive form suggests returns could be on the cards – they have conceded three goals in four matches at the Stadium of Light this term, a fact that will no doubt see Simon Mignolet, Carlos Cuellar and Phil Bardsley propelled onto Fantasy radars.

Up top, Steven Fletcher’s goal and assist at the Cottage will reignite faith in his attacking potential. With six goals and an assist over his 10 appearances, he has played a part in 70% of his side’s goals and has averaged six FPL points per game so far. Adam Johnson, with attacking returns in each of his last two, is starting to hint at a step up in form, while Stephane Sessegnon’s superb strike served a reminder of the displays that harvested seven goals and 12 assists last term.

Southampton

Four points from their last two leads Nigel Adkins’ outfit into a crucial run which sees them face three home games in the next four. The Saints welcome Newcastle, Norwich and Reading to St Mary’s and having stepped up with a win at QPR last Saturday, they will surely be in confident mood ahead of the Magpies’ visit this weekend.

While the backline continue to concede in every match played so far, investment further up the field looks a potentially prosperous ploy. Jason Puncheon seems to have cemented a role on the right once again – his goal and assist at Loftus Road, allied with a 4.5 FPL price tag, has earned him plenty new suitors already. Adam Lallana and Gaston Ramirez are options in the mid-price bracket, while Rickie Lambert has produced a goal and assist over the last couple of Gameweeks and looks to be hitting edging back to form at the right time.

Man United

Sir Alex Ferguson’s side will be desperate to bounce back from the shock defeat at Norwich last Saturday and are afforded the perfect opportunity, as basement-dwellers QPR roll up to Old Trafford this weekend. United then have two home games in the following four, with West Ham and Sunderland also paying visit, and with a trip to Reading also on their agenda, the omens look good.

Robin Van Persie seems a strong captaincy contender across those fixtures – having been rested for the midweek Champions League match against Galatasaray, the Dutchman will be fresh and raring to go after a rare blank at Carrow Road, while Wayne Rooney is also expected to return, after tonsillitis kept him out on Saturday. Rafael’s owners will be hoping he can pick up attacking returns, with clean sheets looking beyond the Red Devils right now, while Antonio Valencia – with no returns in the last three – is handed the platform to produce the goods again.

Swansea

Buoyed by a weekend win at Newcastle, Michael Laudrup’s side face three fixtures in front of their own fans over the next four before the schedule starts to stiffen. The Swans welcome Liverpool, West Brom and Norwich to the Liberty and also have a trip to Arsenal in their agenda – while the trio of home matches may not be the easiest, Michu’s owners will be happy to hold. An injury to Ki Sung-Yeung forced a reshuffle which saw the Spaniard drop back into “the hole” for the St James’ Park match and he duly obliged with the opener. Having found the net in four of his six appearances at the Liberty, his appeal is obvious.

Pablo Hernandez continues to offer a midfield alternative to his compatriot. The former Valencia man has scored in each of his last two at home and with an assist last weekend, has averaged six points per game over the last five fixtures, while Jonathan de Guzman has outgunned Michu 25 to 23 over the last five Gameweeks and is another on-song midfielder for Laudrup right. At the back, however, Swansea’s run of no clean sheets in 10 is indicative of their lack of defensive resilience.

Also Consider

Aston Villa – three home games in the next four affords Paul Lambert’s side to bounce back from their 5-0 Etihad thrashing. While the visit of Arsenal may prove problematic, the midlanders also welcome Reading and Stoke, with a trip to QPR sandwiched in between. Christian Benteke, with attacking returns in three of the last four, looks the obvious option for Fantasy managers on the search for a mid-price forward differential, though Andreas Weimann’s brace against United suggests he could come to the fore if he continues to nail down a starting berth.

Arsenal – the Gunners may have only two home clashes in the next six but, aside from a Gameweek 14 trip to Everton, their schedule seems more than favourable. Visits to Villa, Reading and Wigan should hold little fear for the north London outfit, while home clashes against Swansea and West Brom offer the chance to get their bid for a top four spot back on track. Santi Cazorla’s owners will be more than content to hold, bearing in mind his best points hauls have come on the road, while Olivier Giroud, Lukas Podolski and Theo Walcott have all produced returns in their last two. The latter has been sidelined for Arsenal’s Champions League clash with Montpellier due to a shoulder problem, though, suggesting he may be a doubt for Saturday’s trip to Villa.

Tottenham – Four defeats in five have lowered expectations around the Lane but Andre Villas-Boas’ side are now set to face four home games in the next six. Much may depend on the return of Moussa Dembele – Spurs had previously won all four of the games the Belgian has started and his presence in central midfield is clearly crucial to his side’s prospects. Nevertheless, with West Ham, Liverpool, Swansea and Stoke all paying visit, faith in Gareth Bale will remain resolute, while Jermain Defoe is set to start at least the next three after Emmanuel Adebayor’s red card at Arsenal.

The Weak

Everton

A kind opening schedule has helped David Moyes’ side banish their customary slow start and edge their way into fifth spot but the fixture list is about to turn sticky for the Toffees. Everton entertain the league’s in-form defence this weekend, as Norwich make their way to Goodison, and while that is unlikely to worry their Fantasy owners too much, the Merseysiders also face Arsenal and Spurs at home, with tricky trips to City, Stoke and West Ham also between now and Gameweek 18.

Marouane Fellaini’s one-match suspension this weekend is already seeing him sold on by significant numbers, while many are starting to question the worth of Leighton Baines, with the Toffees registering just two clean sheets all season. Bearing in mind they sit second in FPL for midfielders and defenders respectively, getting rid doesn’t come without risk – they did, after all, produce 19 points between them again United earlier this term. With one goal in his last five, though, Nikica Jelavic’s owners will also be pondering his value over the new few fixtures.

West Ham

There’s simply no let-up for the Hammers over the next few Gameweeks as the schedule continues to look ridden with danger. Unbeaten in their last three, Sam Allardyce’s side are in decent form but now face four of the top five in the next six Gameweeks. Up next are back-to-back trips to Spurs and United and with a visit to West Brom supplemented by home showdowns against Chelsea, Liverpool and Everton, the festive period could be set to bite hard.

Kevin Nolan’s Fantasy owners will be a little apprehensive, bearing in mind he has now produced attacking returns in one of his last four at Upton Park, while a single clean sheet in five home games may have Jussi Jaaskelainen’s owners on edge. Plenty will now get rid of Guy Demel, with two brief sub appearances and the displays of Joey O’Brien keeping him on the periphery of the Hammers first XI.

West Brom

Steve Clarke’s side have just one home fixture in the next four – a tricky Hawthorns clash with neighbours Stoke. The Baggies are on their travels three times, then, with visits to Sunderland, Swansea and Arsenal on their short-term agenda before the schedule starts to smile a little kinder in Gameweek 17. With a single clean sheet in their last seven, faith in West Brom’s backline hasn’t been rewarded in recent matches, though James Morrison has shown a consistency on his travels, producing attacking returns in two of his last three on the road. Shane Long’s owners have reason to be wary; although he has scored or assisted in all seven home appearances, Long has produced attacking returns just once away from home this season.

Also Be Wary Of

Man City – there’s no denying the champions have picked up in performance since the return of David Silva but the next four Gameweeks affords them a single straightforward fixture. While a trip to Wigan looks prosperous, Roberto Mancini’s side also square up to three of the top five, with a trip to Chelsea in addition to home showdowns against Everton and Man United. A defence that has conceded once in the last four is likely to struggle to replicate such returns, though Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez owners won’t be too concerned, given their upcoming opponents’ recent defensive records.

Chelsea – without a win in their last four, Roberto Di Matteo’s side welcome City and then neighbours Fulham to the Bridge; both look tricky for a defence that has conceded in each of the last seven Gameweeks and remain without the steadying influence of John Terry. Chelsea then travel to West Ham and Sunderland before a blank Gameweek 17 – Juan Mata and Eden Hazard owners will be hoping for an upturn in attacking displays from a Blues side that have scored just three times in the last three Gameweeks.

Taarabt/ Marveaux look too weak as your 4th/ 5th mids.
You're probably right (in that you look quite nice for this GW) but use your 2 FTs next week to deal with those two, imo. Good luck.

Marveaux has been killing me all season... luckily haven't been caught out where I've needed to use that 3rd bench spot during a game

Taarabt came into the side last week... think he could do well in the following game weeks, post ManU @ OT this weekend

Chances of keeping Everton scoreless at Goodison will be a tough ask for Norwich. A 3-2 Norwich win, with a goal & assist for Pienaar?

I`d go Clyne for some attacking threat. Stoke will likely concede as Fulham have many goals in them this season, and i generally dont care for defensive double-ups.

it's a toss up between clyne and mccartney for me. don't fancy the double up against fulham..

mccartney also offers attacking threat with a couple of assists, and spurs have been poor of late, can't see newcastle not scoring either

Surprised at the lack of confidence in the Stoke defensive double-up. Having only conceded once at home in 5 matches this season. 4/5 clean sheets at home. Begovic save points, Shawcross BPs & goal threat...has me sold.

I suppose it speaks volumes, more so, about the confidence in Fulham's attacking threat this season

Im adversed to taking hits, learned my lesson with that last year. However, when youre in the zone, youre in the zone, and to each his own. "Hopefully" Suarez has served his ban by then. Kind of a paradox for a Liverpool-fan that im hoping he gets that 5th yellow just so i can get him in on FPL lol

Don't be adverse to taking hits, especially early in the season. If they are well thought out they can make you money for the second WC and hopefully gain you some points long term.
Be careful of being too conservative in FPL 😉

Yeah, if it serves me in the long run (5+ games) or my team is really looking shit, then i guess i`d do it. That happened to me early already this year (which it seems to do every year), and i just used my WC to straighten it out. But ive kinda learned my lesson and just have patience. Almost pulled the trigger on a -4 this weekend which woulda kinda turned out well, but i still profited alot from staying away. Long term also looks better for my team.

As to Suarez, i just know he`s gonna get banned and its gonna be soon. He`s just too much of a hothead to last until Newyears.

I dont really care for this idea, as a matter of fact i burned myself on it last season. Having 3 players from any team is risky, and when you factor in the rotation worries at a team like City... I`d definitely do the B one as i think a more balanced side is the way to go. Think of it this way, when you have three very expensive strikers, it takes atleast 2 transfers if you ever want to rotate your priorities. In my humble opinion, balance is key.

Still think Pienaar will outscore Sterling this GW, and i have Sterling myself and support Liverpool as well. Sterling might get involved a little bit against Young Boys on thursday, so theres even a slight risk something might happen. I just think when youve kept Pienaar this long, transferring him out NOW doesnt seem like the right time.

I've resisted all year to have high price defenders with my focus on the front 7-8.
Seeing teams make changes like "insert higher costing DEF" to Cuellar/other 4.5 def recently
Maybe my approach wasn't that bad after all.

here is my team at the moment:
    Begovic - Jaaskelainen
    Davies - McCartney - Cuellar - Hughes - Cameron
    Bale - Hazard - Mata - Sterling - Fellaini
van Persie - Suarez - Berbatov

    1. In lieu of Silva for Citeh coverage, was thinking Berbatov->Tevez and Hazard to Nolan or Michu
    2. Or keep Berbatov but swap Hazard/Bale for Silva/Cazorla.

Not going to get into how liberating it can feel when you don't have RVP and the team options
it opens up. For another time perhaps.

    Any thoughts are appreciated

I'm starting to shift to a cheapo defense myself.

Downgrade Hazard to Silva or Santi, your choice really. Who do you like better?

I'd stick to your frontline unless you really want Berbs out. RVP-Suarez-Berbatov looks really good.

    A) Baines and Berbatov -> Cuellar and RVP for a hit

    B) Keep Baines for 1 more week, Berbatov -> Rooney this week, then transfer A next week (with Rooney out for RVP if it doesn't pay off)

Keeping Baines at home to Norwich is a sound move; however move A) is appealing just because RVP may get a monster haul this weekend. He's rested and ManU will be looking to bounce back from the NOrwich loss.

This is tough, but A. Fire and forget. Thank Baines for all the memories and move on.

I mean, i understand the logic of keeping Baines. He`s a luxury player. Basically youre paying 7,5 or whatever it is to have that 6th midfielder with CS potential. On the flip side you cannot ever bench Baines, no matter the fixture. It would be like benching Suarez just because theyre away to City. That means, you have less flexability in your roster. Obviously it also deprives you of money to spend on that attacking force. And, year after year, theres always a few surprice teams that play tight at the back, representing value in FPL. Still dont know what i`m going to do with the cash i`ll be pocketing, but im sure i`ll think of something.

'luxury' is totally the key word here. People go on here like Baines is meant to be essential because of his potential for points. But so do budget options have potential for points. Yes they may not get the monster scores Baines is 'capable' of. But neither is Baines doing so either.

Luxuries should be taken up top or in midfield in my opinion. That's why Baines has a stay of execution right now. I'm sick of owning him really. I don't care if he gets the odd assist and penalty. I'd prefer to have fun playing this game than be too scared to sell him because of the potential of a penalty.

I do realise that RVP will score big this week, but if Rooney is just as capable of pulling out a monster haul, then surely it is better to save a hit and at the same time take a punt on a differential anyway?

Yes. Rooney is obviously capable of big returns. Atleast playing at home. On the road it would appear that he drops down into like a 5th midfielder role, with RVP up front. Rooney is still on pens, which is a positive. But he`s had a niggle since Villa, so atleast wait until youre absolutely sure that he`s going to start the game. Having £11m+ players whos not playing isnt exactly peachy

I did transfers at 2:16am, one minute before price change to be processed.

Berbatov -> Suarez and Baines -> Cuellar

I like the first move as Suarez was gonna rise in price, but not so confident with the latter as Baines has Norwich (H)... But I decided to do it.

However, the price changed at the time I clicked, so my transfers didn't go through.. 😮

Could it be a sign that I shouldn't ditch Baines before his last "easy" home game?

      Glichy is the pick.

It's only a matter of time before Mancini reverts back to the Lescott-Kompany partnership at the heart of their defense.

I made a mistake of getting Zabaleta in a few weeks ago instead of Glichy. I assumed that Zab would be nailed on because of Micah and Maicon's injuries. Then Maicon suddenly came back for the Villa tie. Clean sheet wasted.

Plus grabbing Glichy will give you the flexibility to (depending on circumstances):

      1. Get in Zabaleta or Kolarov
      2. Get Jose Enrique
      3. Upgrade to Jevans
      4. Downgrade to Sagna/Gibbs

They're all in the same price range.

I actually think Nastasic is pretty nailed on, but i would still pick Clichy anyway. He gets forward alot and has assist potential, and every time they win without devastating the opponents he has decent shouts for bonus points. Wouldnt touch Arsenal defence atm. And please, stay clear of Enrique, let me have him alone 😀

    REPOST
So after a horrible GW and becoming a ridicule in my ML, I am beginning to think I might use my WC around GW 15. Just brought in Silva, Cuellar, Lamb (sounds knee-jerky i know but I had planned to do these transfers for this GW even b4 they did well

    Current team is
    Bego/Foster
    Cuellar/Ridgewell/Cameron/Baines/Rafael
    Mata/Silva/Caz/Puncheon/Kaca
    RVP/Berb/Lambert

My potential WC team is (I havent played with the numbers to see if I can afford all of them)
GK – Bego/4.5 (Ruddy/Guzan – will play Bego most weeks irrespective H/A rotation unless its a very bad fixture)

DEF- Rafael/Baines/Cameron/Cuellar/Enrique (also considering Norwich/West ham defender)

    MID – Caz/Silva/Mata/Hernandez and one of Nolan/Sterling/Morrison

    RVP/Tevez/Suarez (Berbatov/Ba also potentials)

Was thinking of saving my WC for a juicy DGW but it seems I have to use it sooner to try and make up lost ground. Any tips greatly welcomed! Thanks!

I disagree. Sure, he`s not really your prolific goalmachine, but he has tons of assists. This year though, United have struggled to find a way to enable wide players. I`d stay clear of Valencia as of yet, mainly due to United not beeing on top form.

2FT this week, and 1.0 in the bank, and not sure what to do...

    Begovic, (Jusi)
    Baines, Hoith, Riise (Clyne, Tierney)
    Michu, Pienaar, Cazorla, Felliani, (Sterling)
    RVP, Tevez, Fletcher

Don't really want Pienaar and Felliani both long term, but NOR this week seems silly to trade one out.

Tierney is of course worthless but is it worth using a transfer and $$ to get him out?

      8/5 for an RVP brace
      11/2 for an RVP hat-trick

to put this into perspective Taarabt's odd to score ONE GOAL anytime is 5/1

My take on Suarez's form is that he's similar to Ba and Fletcher at their respective clubs. They have a monopoly of chances and score 80% of their sides goals. The difference is Suarez has more to his game as he is a dangerous dribbler and a skillful footballer in general. That gives him the edge in people's thoughts because he can look and play like a world class player at times. Whereas a lot of people would dismiss Ba and Fletcher because they are more 'ordinary' strikers that do a good job at scoring goals when given the slightest of chances.

Fletcher's strength is probably his positional awareness and suitability to his sides tactical strategy. It worked for him at Wolves last year. He continued scoring despite Wolves being woefully poor.

Ba's strength is quite literally his strength and aerially ability. Not to mention, he is lethal at punishing defences by shooting on sight. Once he gets into positions he is always catching the opposition off guard with instinctive finishes that leave a GK with no time to even react to what's going on. I think he is the similar to Fletcher by having a miserly amount of service so far this season yet still scoring when needed.

I think Suarez is definitely on for 25 goals this season but I have my doubts whether he's worth dropping all plans to use all your funds on him. Liverpool have hit a purple patch but I still think they suffer from similar things to Sunderland and Newcastle which makes it hard for me to see that added value in scrambling to get Suarez at any cost.

Plus he's a yellow card away from missing a game = inevitably annoying for owners.

I totally detest the buck tooth racist....everytime he scores i cringe.

Haha, yeah. I guess you'd start to warm to him if he was scoring you points. But I still am concerned we're getting a little carried away here. Yes he is a very good striker. But it's as if he's benefited by basically being the only player in that team who can even score a goal. (see also: Ba) And while Ba is continuing to be a bit like Suarez in that sense...I don't see why I should be rushing to get a more expensive version. And I watched Liverpool against Newcastle and they were pretty average. Suarez has been bailing them out big time. And this is what concerns me. Liverpool are simply no world beaters and neither are Newcastle. So what is separating them? I don't think there is much in it apart from Liverpool looking much more fresh and promising with youngsters etc.

I still think they will struggle against teams and Suarez will too as a result. At least I hope so!!

Ba is one of those players which i never seem to get right.

Had him to start last season.....did not realize that he observed ramadan and was un fit for the first 4 matches

Then bought him but shipped him out vs united (last game before ACON). he scored a hat trick if i remember.

Brought him back after ACON and held on to him for too long. While Cisse stole all his goals.

I think i captained him when he missed a penalty and recieved a a yellow. -2pts for me that week.

I do see your point. I think you can throw TEvez in there too.

Ouch that is very unlucky. It was all about the tactical change Newcastle did to accommodate Cisse.

Ba to me is one of the best 'pure' strikers in the league or maybe the world. He looks like he would be literally terrifying to play against. And you simply can't stop him from smashing them in if you give him even an inch. Cisse just doesn't have the same strengths at all, for me...or at least he does sometimes but he relies on being the main man and he just isn't now.

Ba was severely under-priced this year owing to last year's slow demise. And it's hugely rewarding to have bought him for a sub 8m price tag.

I think youre praising Ba way too much. He`s had half a good season with West Ham, half a good one last year and started this quarter very well. But one of the worlds best? Come on. Hes not even close. He`s Newcastle`s main man, and sure he`s a beast, but its like youre comparing really really good lemonade with Coca Cola. No matter how sweet the lemonade, Coke wins. Same goes for Ba / Suarez. He`s superior to Ba in every way, except the pure physichal aspect.

Yet Suarez has only scored 2 more goals.

I expect Ba will keep up with him well enough. I think Ba is seriously under-rated. Newcastle got an absolute gem for free.

As I said, I believe the tactical change in the second half of the season diminished Ba's ability to score significantly and we weren't seeing the true Ba in the position he is most deadly. If they hadn't had Cisse he would have got 25 goals in my opinion.

2 more goals in 13 games. Thats 20% of total tally. Not to mention that we`ve been up against all of the top sides already.

Ba`s not really underrated. He`s acknowledged for a good striker, and thats that. They did get him for free, but you know why? He failed the medical at some club (i think Stoke) before signing for West Ham, and there he signed a contract allowing him to leave for free should they get relegated. They did, so he left.

And your final point is pretty much invalid. Ba started up top with Cissè for some time after he signed. Ba didnt produce goals. Cissè did. Ben Arfa produced everything else from the RW, so Pardew shifted Ba out wide due to lack of alternatives and obviously because he wanted to keep Ba in the side hoping that he`d regain form. Put it this way: Had Ba kept on scoring, Pardew damn sure woulda found some way to keep him in front of goal.

I have been considering Suarez vs Fletcher as a replacement of Berbatov this week. I decided to get Suarez this morning, but I missed the price rise and not yet got him on.

      Team now
      --------------
      Begovic - Foster
      Rafael - Baines - Gorkss - Nelsen - Demel
      Fellaini - Mata - Bale - Santi - Sterling
      RvP - Ba - Bervatov

      Which's better?

      A: Berbatov + Baines (NOR) -> Suarez + Cuellar
B: Berbatov -> Fletcher ... better fixtures + DGW coming

if i had the transfer, i would Berba>Fletcher. That said, I would wait until next week and see if SUN form is real. After all the 3G performance was vs a 10man Fulham unit.

Fulhams fixtures improve in GW17 after DGW . you can always swap him back.

Sorry to keep picking on you, but you seem to either have something particular against Suarez as a player / really cherish Ba`s physichal style, have a low threshhold for getting impressed, or all of the above. Yeah, he`s a big guy, he`s got a great jump on him, but come on. Kenwyne Jones can score goals like that all day too, doesnt make him a tip-top striker.

Arsenal already have one, and to me he`s not far behind -> could very well improve way beyond Ba. Dont get me wrong, i dont think Ba`s a bad player. In fact i think he`s pretty damn good. But he`s inconsistent, and he`s pretty "simple". He`s a tank, really. And i think that + his injury proneness will lead to him not getting a big team move. Teams that aspire to win the league cant afford to have players that limited. I may be stretching this comparison, but thats kind of the reason why big Carroll got chucked from Liverpool. Although i rate Ba a couple of levels above atleast, theyre kind of the same. Big fish in a small pond.

Yeah, I think Ba would be good enough to play in a bigger side. There's no doubt in my mind.

Psychobingo I think you're just picking up on the fact that I'm comparing Ba and Suarez's ability in FPL. And it's obvious you might have a particular bias towards Suarez. And as a Sunderland fan I've watched Kenwyne and he's nowhere near Ba. If Kenwyne could score goals like Ba does then he wouldn't be on the bench for bloody Stoke who can't buy a goal.

Youre misinterpreting my Kenwyne Jones bit, i simpl meant that he too is an agile guy that has some jump on him. The goal against Swans this weekend was not even noteworthy. And youre right about me beeing biased. I`m a Liverpool fan. That doesnt really affect my objectivety towards the situation though. If youre so sure that Ba deserves a big club move, how come no one has picked him up for the £7m release clause that he has? I`m telling you, big fish in a small pond. His reportoire is just too limited. Suarez on the other hand, is complete. He can run, he can finish, he can play combinations, his dribbling is probably the best in the league. Again, i`d like to state that i think Ba is good. He`s just not AS good as Suarez, and he never will be. That`s why he`ll run out his contract with Newcastle as their top scorer for a 7th-10th placed team.

You're misinterpreting why I posted my thoughts though. It's because I think Ba in FPL is not worth getting rid of for Suarez. I just also happen to admire Ba's ability to score goals. I'm not really concerned with him being the most all-round player. I just like what he does well. And I've already said how much I see Suarez's talent and how much better he is as a player in general.

Fair enough. In fact what youre pointing out is the reason why i dont own Suarez myself, Giroud has been banging goals lately and i see no reason to transfer him out. Lets just call it a day on this discussion, ending with we both like Ba, just that i like Suarez more:)

TBF PB I agree with you that Suarez is the better player when it comes to skill. There is no doubt there which is why big clubs such as Citeh and Chelsea want to sign Suarez. But I think what me and Unreal are arguing is the case that FPL value may be relatively similar.

Suarez has major assist potential which makes him a better prospect. Although the difference in price accounts for this already. In saying that there are few players in the Liverpool who can finish thus making his assist potential somewhat void. If there is anyone who has the potential to finish his chances created it could be Sterling whom I and many others already have. At 4.5 he is all the Liverpool cover necessary.

First of all, he costs 5.4 now i belive. Second, Suarez is the best player in the league this term. Watch him win the BPL POTM award for the second straight time. Are Liverpool attacking well enough to have both Sterling/Suarez? Probably not atm, we`ll have to see. Clearly there`s potential. But if i got a wildcard today, LS7 is the first name on my FPL-teamsheet.

Good points. I'm just trying to point out that at 7.5m to Suarez's 9.5m, Ba has represented extremely good value and mirrors Suarez by being the most significant goal threat in a half-decent side.

Hate to be pencilpusher, but values are 8.3 and 10.3 i believe, nonetheless the difference in price are the same. Ba has represented good value, indeed. But Liverpool arent satisfied with beeing what you call a half decent side, and i think we have a real shot at catching up to the top 4. Arsenal and Spurs arent really far ahead, and like ive stated, Suarez` consistency and ability surpasses Ba`s by a mile, in my opinion.

There's where we will have to disagree. You're a Pool fan so obviously you want that to be the case. Whereas I've watched them and I don't see much difference between them and Newcastle. Both pushing for top 6. If I could save 2m on having an equally good goalscoring option I think I'd be happy enough.

Arsenal are MILES ahead of Liverpool. They have Cazorla/Giroud/Podolski/Walcott. That is miles better than Suarez and nobody.

Fair enough, agreeing to disagree is a fine outcome. I think that Liverpool as a club and as a team are heading places, and Newcastle are not. They`ll be content running a good business. Their squad/manager isnt strong enough. Newcastle would be lucky to make top 10 imo, i see that second season syndrome written over it.

Arsenal are ahead. Not MILES though. Giroud is fresh, just now finding his feet. Who`s to say he`ll keep on keeping on. Podolski is so overrated. Walcott wont sign a new contract and just might pen a Liverpool deal. We also have tons of youngsters coming up the ranks, and theres definitely one or two coming in the january wndow. Im just saying, Arsenal are inconsistent enough that we could finish above them. Obviously it requires most of our players playing up to their potential, but.

Well enjoy dreaming of that top 4 finish!

I just think you're relying on a lot of things going right for you and with so many youngsters and only one striker it's going to be difficult to continue such positive form forever. And you've only beaten teams like Reading/Wigan/Norwich. It's not like you've really got any great scalps just yet.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if it happens. But keep believing!

I also think that when you say 'Liverpool are heading places' it's because things have been pretty awful for Liverpool the last few years. So the only way is up really. Whereas Newcastle over-achieved and are regressing to the norm. But don't get too carried away about being better than Newcastle just yet!

Thats excactly it, its a dream. Not really something i realistically believe in, yet. If we string together 3-4 wins in a row, showing that we`re capable of that, then i`ll get some hope.

And yeah, we`ve beaten the smaller sides. Take into consideration that both Arsenal and Spurs lost points to Norwich, who we battered. We`re a brand new team this season. New manager, new system, new players. Things take time. And we got robbed against City/United @ home, and drew @ Stamford Bridge. Wr`re still up and down, but i see immense potential in our squad.

And for your final statement, youre right about that as well. Hodgson and Dalglish/Commoli had the club headed in the wrong direction. Its almost shameful how bad things actually was for the last 2-3 years. But things have turned around now. Will it last? Who knows. I`ll bet my front teeth that we finish above Newcastle this year though.

Lallana. Soton could be invigorated by their win against QPR and turn it up at St. Mary's.

However, Ba will still destroy the Saints. 🙂

Imo lallana against a leaky Newcastle could get an assist or goal and Morrison against a tight sunderland @ away.

This. Sunderland will be tight at home. The Toon is leaking goals right now.

Llallana. MON runs a tight Sunderland-ship, whilst Newcastle have multiple worries. I see alot of goals in that game, 4-5 even.
