[sbu_large_image] The Stock Check

Tuesday’s matches lived up to expectations, as four sides low on confidence and fraught with stuttering form served up a single goal and limited returns. Here’s the Stock Check on this evening’s events…

On the Up

Christian Benteke
Thrown into the Scout Picks, the formidable Belgian striker delivered a third goal of the season to provide a vital winner for Villa. With Darren Bent kept in the stands, Benteke justified Paul Lambert’s faith in him with another muscular display. Maximum bonus beckons and it’s QPR and Stoke over the next two.

The Villa Defence
While Paul Lambert’s back four have conceded eight goals in their last five, all eight of those conceded came against United and City, meaning that the Villa back four have kept three clean sheets around those two matches. Three away games in the next four is an obstacle to investment, although their progress is clearly worth monitoring. Scout Pick Ciaran Clark has the goal threat to accompany defensive returns but he joined the suspension tightrope with his fourth booking tonight.

Adel Taarabt
There were question marks over the Moroccan’s role when Harry Redknapp took the reins but tonight’s showing indicated that Taarabt will remain a key figure and certainly QPR’s biggest threat and creative influence. While he drew a blank this evening, Fantasy managers will be monitoring his potential as QPR’s schedule improves.

Going Down

Sunderland’s Attack
With six goals in their last three matches, both Stephane Sessegnon and Steven Fletcher have attracted inevitable interest with a double Gameweek looming. However, tonight provided more evidence that we must remain cautious on their potential. Martin O’Neill’s side laboured again, with the bulk of their efforts on goal fired in from range.

Kaspar Gorkss
The Latvian was presumably rested, with Adrian Mariappa drafted into the centre of the Reading back four. Brian McDermott’s decision to omit the senior member of his defence could be significant given that Sean Morrison retained his start. With Chris Gunter also rotated out, the security of starts in the Reading rearguard is again in question.

Julio Cesar
The Brazilian reportedly picked up a groin injury in the first half and was denied clean sheet returns with Robert Green taking over for the second period. He’ll presumably be an early doubt for the meeting with Villa this weekend.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

      Completely disagree.

The baps are based upon more than an opinion. Statistical based analysis is clear and often with out controversy there little to argue about. Kilgalon statistically was the best player last night. If that's what the stats say then who am i to argue.

Is it worth taking a hit to do Ba/Berba -> Suarez?

    RE Kilgallon vs Cuellar stats:

PA feed differs from Opta, and has Kilgallon with 3 blocks - while Cuellar has just 1. PPI loves blocks, so that'll be why his PPI score was so much better than Cuellar.

P.S. Please rest Rafael, Fergie. It's about time you did.

He should've been booked a couple of times in the last 4 or so games. It's his game, hustling people. Surely one will be here soon. Although if he doesn't get booked, I reckon I'll just get him in for the Saints game...only for him to then get booked like Fellaini.

Yeah. I got stitched up because I had Cahill and Yaya Toure, and actually chose Yaya as captain (because we knew the City game was one of the most likely to go ahead)... Then virtually everyone got Cahill, some off the bench, in as vice captain.

What I find strangest about the bonus system is that nobody's worked it out yet. There are some über-geeks out there (see Fiso/TotalFPL) who have worked out price changes to a pretty decent level of accuracy, and you see all manner of spreadsheets and things flying around on here, and yet nobody has managed to work out how PPI works. If it's based on press association data which is in the public realm, and the PPI scores are published each week, you'd think someone would have done the maths by now.

I think someone has come pretty close to cracking it?

Also, can you access passing stats, and like, from the press association data? The data given on the BBC match feed is pretty basic and misses out several factors that will presumably affect PPI.

    16 from 3 though isn't too bad.

Come on RVP do the business tonight. top 2 in my money league are both without him... punish them.

If I were to take out rvp ,id be able to get in aguero and still have 3.5 mil in the bank.
i could then do demel/gorkss> sagna/gibbs since arsenals got some decent fixtures coming up and still be able to improve elsewhere. pus agueros a 20 goal + striker

    what do you guys think

The game last night was one of the worst I have seen in a long time. Totally devoid of any creativity. Sunderland really are gash. I regret bringing in Fletcher, despite 3 home games in the next 4, including the DGW. The last time I shipped Berbatov out (before the Arsenal game) it bit me on the bazoobies big time. In Chelsea's backline I trust !
