On the Up

Demba Ba
The Senegalese striker went into tonight’s game having scored just once in his last five league appearances but rewarded the patience of his owners with a brace. Ba converted the early spot-kick before leaping on the rebound from Davide Santon’s effort to take him to ten goals for the season. Tonight’s returns will earn him further interest, although Ba was struggling with his hamstring late on, with Alan Pardew optimistic post-match that this was just stiffness rather than a setback.

Fabricio Coloccini
The towering Argentine has emerged as the most popular member of the Newcastle defence in terms of FPL ownership and his return to the Magpies’ back four has added the stability that helped them to their first clean sheet in ten league outings.

Robbed of Antolin Alcaraz for much of the season and with further niggles biting, Roberto Martinez now faces more problems at the back with Maynor Figueroa banned for the vital home clash with QPR, while Gary Caldwell picked up his fifth booking tonight which will also see him miss the weekend. With Ivan Ramis remaining an injury doubt, the Latics look set to field a patched-up back four for the visit of Harry Redknapp’s side.

          There's quite a few in there. I've played a few demos and some were surpisingly good. Some games I wouldn't have even thought about if it weren't for the demos.

        There was talk of him having deciding to rest Silva for the CL game and playing up Silva's injury ahead of the derby in order to gain some kind of advantage. Whether it's true I'm not sure but I just thought this would be interesting to add to the discussion.

            Only thing I would say is Berbatov is a very streaky player. He has exploded in games in the past. I remember my bro telling me he had Berbatov for a while and he was just not doing the business. Then the week he sold him he scored 4 goals against Blackburn!

      I'm holding on to my big hitters. Hopefully I haven't made a mistake in not taking advantage of Michu's daily rises...Silva should be back and do well. Got an assist in each of the matches I know for sure. Might have gotten 2 assists at OT. He definitely scored there. One of the best assists I've ever seen to Dzeko. I hope that makes you feel better lol.

    Morning guys,

    Apologies for the long post, but I need some help please.

    Ba seriously punished me last night for transfering him out. For a hit as well!

    Unsure about my team for the weekend and unsure what to do.

    Plans were to do either:

    A. Hold onto the transfer for a week

    or

    B. Rangel -> Davies and Pienaar -> Fellaini (-4)

    Now am wondering whether to do:

    C: Bale -> Fellaini

    Fellaini's due to rise and Bale's due to drop.
    If Silva's out, I may have a problem fielding 11 players.

    I think it's good move but also think that you'll be wanting to get bale back in as soon as he's fit. I have no chelsea or city coverage and don't see a way of attaining either without getting rid of bale 🙁

      Not really. It's so expensive and when you have Suarez and Tevez picking up plenty of points too, it makes it hard to justify.

      If Valencia was fit and on form it would give us a nice route into some more united attacking points.

    What are others doing in this situation?

    Thinking of mata as he has a blank next week and bale (I hope) won't be out too long.

    Also (c) choices out of this bunch;

          if mata looks indispensable and on song. i'd keep him since i think i got enough cover in my front 8. if chelsea becomes uglier and uglier, i'd sell him for michu instead of bale.

    I've realized recently that when you sell a player who then scores, it's much worse than when the player you didn't transfer in, scores, so i'm being much more patient. I will keep Berbatov.

      I agree. But then I looked at Defoe for those 3 games when Ade was suspended and now really regret not swapping Berbatov for Defoe

      Very punchy indeed,but given their nice run of fixtures and the fact Man U historically are consistent over a jam packed christmas schedule not a bad idea,(c) choice may be a dilemma though each GW,and what about the balance of the rest of the squad?11 fit players is crucial around Xmas imo,fielding 9/10 players hurt me last season.

      Taking all factors into consideration (nailed on, set-pieces, cost, points scored, team etc....) I'm going to go with Suarez (especially if bought at 9.5ish).
