Demba Ba
The Senegalese striker went into tonight’s game having scored just once in his last five league appearances but rewarded the patience of his owners with a brace. Ba converted the early spot-kick before leaping on the rebound from Davide Santon’s effort to take him to ten goals for the season. Tonight’s returns will earn him further interest, although Ba was struggling with his hamstring late on, with Alan Pardew optimistic post-match that this was just stiffness rather than a setback.

Fabricio Coloccini
The towering Argentine has emerged as the most popular member of the Newcastle defence in terms of FPL ownership and his return to the Magpies’ back four has added the stability that helped them to their first clean sheet in ten league outings.

The Wigan Defence
Robbed of Antolin Alcaraz for much of the season and with further niggles biting, Roberto Martinez now faces more problems at the back with Maynor Figueroa banned for the vital home clash with QPR, while Gary Caldwell picked up his fifth booking tonight which will also see him miss the weekend. With Ivan Ramis remaining an injury doubt, the Latics look set to field a patched-up back four for the visit of Harry Redknapp’s side.

    Team selection dilemma for DGW! Please help!

    1) can't fit in Fellaini
    2) got Defoe as a one week sort of differential replacement for Suarez (am on WC)
    3) Michu and Walcott arguably have an easier outing than Fellaini
    4) McAnuff is more of a replacement for Maloney rather than a DGW transfer but doesn't make sense not to start him right?

    They have a cracking run ahead and I for one don't mind paying 4.2m for a marauding full back in a decent team

      This is the question I'd love to know. It seemed like with BAE out Spurs had recently settled on

      Walker Caulk Gallas Vert

      But that didn't last for very long. And with BAE probably available sooner or later it's only going to get more difficult to pick a Spurs DFer

    My team is in absolute shambles at the moment! Third red arrow in a row. From 86th in the world to 2k during this periode. Got Adam and Suarez (suspended), Gorkss and B.Jones (not playing) and Silva (injured). And I don't do hits....
    Just have enough money to do C.Adam to Michu, so my team would be like this;

    Schwarzer - (begovic)
    Clyne - Bardsley - Davies - (Gorkss) - (B.Jones)
    Mata - Cazorla - Sterling - Silva - Michu
    Berbatov - vPersie - (Suarez)

    So if Silva plays I get 11 players. If not I need to hope Gorkss does or I will only field 10...!

    Should I take a hit, og stay calm? Suggestions would be really appreciated!

      The logical move is Gorkss to Shorey for a hit. It should be able to break even and is basically risk neutral.

      Stay calm. Hopefully Silva is back for the weekend and it was just Mancini playing mind games. Team looks solid enough tbh.

      An option would be to do Gorkss to a DGW defender for a hit, and play him - he is almost guaranteed four points covering the hit with anything else being a bonus. That would then guarantee you 11 starting even if Silva doesnt play.

          So you have 0 FT before Adam > Michu? I would be tempted to do both Adam > Michu and Gorkks > Shorey ... the latter will pay for itself and Michu against Norwich is a tantalising position.

          Shorey gets a lot of chances, and Sunderland are a bit more solid at the back than Southampton (though the latter have tightened up admittedly while the former has got worse), so with Shorey having two games I would go with him. Though two DGW defenders might be pushing it.

      I'd keep Nasty unless you're desperate for the cash. I was dissapointed he didnt play versus Everton too, but he was bound to get a break with at some stage having played 6 games consecutively . It looks like he's overtaken Lescott now and 5.5m for a City starter is very good value

          Always a 'what if', but i think having two mids who play striker for in-form teams at that price, allowing you to upgrade other areas, outweighs the two heavier priced mids, one of whom is playing under a new manager (a losing one at that) and the other who isn't as consistent as he should be for close to 10 mill.

          No they aren't, two away games, one to United. He does get chances though and away to Southampton and United is okay prospects considering their defensive form. And it is better than having an injured defender! Though if you are still not sure could always switch McCartney > another budget defender.

    I'm 3 transfers away from getting the team I want, and without taking hits it's a long wait to achieve it (and thats assuming other things dont get in the way). It's a sorry state of affairs

        The short answer is that I think he will secure his place and reward Wenger by scoring lots of goals and getting lots of assists (at the expense of Santi a lot of the time funnily enough)

        Maybe something to do with Arsenal have good fixtures (so you might want an Arsenal attacker, whether they can be trusted to deliver is another thing), and Walcott has the same attacking returns as 'Super Santi', yet has his minutes played is less than half than that of 'Super Santi'. And he's cheaper.

      I only listened but he got MOTM and everyone said he looked very good (and Cisse looked terrible) though he came off in 81st minute with a hamstring problem (but Pardew said it wasn't serious, fingers crossed).
