We knew it was coming. Luis Suarez had been balancing on the Suspension Tightrope for too many a week, it seemed, and Saturday’s home clash against Southampton finally proved his undoing. Having rattled the woodwork from a free-kick earlier in the game, the Uruguayan fell foul of the referee after a bizarre attempt to punch the ball into the visitors’ net from close-range – it seems he’s yet to shake his predilection for handball in the box.

With five yellows accrued, Suarez’s one-match ban will see him miss the Reds’ trip to West Ham this upcoming Saturday – Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers have moved dramatically after he was flagged at the weekend, with 70,000 already selling him on, in spite of a superb upcoming schedule. Former Red Charlie Adam also joins Suarez on the sidelines after receiving his fifth caution of the season for a foul on Zoltan Gera in Stoke’s weekend win at West Brom – Adam is now sidelined for the Potters’ trip to Villa.

The Suspension Tightrope welcomes a trio of new arrivals this week. Adam’s Stoke team mate Ryan Shawcross is now a booking away from a one-match ban as he heads into the aforementioned Villa Park showdown, while John Obi Mikel and Gareth Bale are both on shaky ground ahead of trips to Sunderland and Everton respectively, though Bale’s availability for Spurs is still yet unclear after he limped off against Fulham with a hamstring strain.

Transferred in by almost 80,000 Fantasy managers already this week, Michu has been swaying on the Tightrope for several weeks now but the Swansea midfielder continues to avoid the referee’s wrath. Having been booked in four of his opening eight matches in all competitions, he has now completed his ninth game without a caution, with a weekend brace against Arsenal his latest Fantasy helping.

This evening’s game at St James’ Park has plenty of protagonists on our radar. Newcastle and Wigan both have two players apiece currently on four cautions – Jonas Gutierrez and Cheick Tiote are the hosts’ main concerns, while the Latics have Gary Caldwell and James McCarthy to worry about. In addition, a quartet of players are a caution away from appearing on the Tightrope – Davide Santon, Mike Williamson, Franco Di Santo and Maynor Figueroa currently sit on three bookings apiece.

Next week’s round of games will see Brede Hangeland and Emmanuel Adebayor available for selection after serving respective three-match bans, while Newcastle’s James Perch will be free to feature in the weekend trip to Fulham after he sits out tonight’s final match of the Gameweek.

I’m thinking of saving my transfer this week. Anything you’d change?

    Begovic
Cuellar / Baines / Jose Enrique
    Fellaini / Sessegnon / Michu / Walcott
Van Persie / Tevez / Berbatov

Pardew's side are on a four-match losing streak in league competition, although Wigan are hardly in better form having lost three of their last four. The Latics are also without a win on six league visits to St James'.

In addition to Ben Arfa, Obertan and Ameobi, Pardew is also missing Yohan Cabaye, James Perch and Demba Ba, as well as Ryan and Steven Taylor.

Wigan are expected to be without Ben Watson and Shaun Maloney, while David Jones, Gary Caldwell and James McArthur face late fitness tests.

Utter nonsense -- if they had a scoop that no other press did have they would lead with it, not bury it three quarters of the way down the article. I think "ESPN Staff" is mailing it in on this one and used some older article as a template.

No news but Manchester city official website has an interview with Lescott in which he says he is "ready to step in anytime". Which clearly shows Lescott is second choice. If Nastasic starts against Manutd next week, I might get him in.

I bought Bale at 9.5 so I could sell for 9.7. Wouldn't be too hard to take if he's back at 9.8 in 2 weeks when I get him back for Mata.

I considering a hit. Gorkss (any more news on him) -> Shean Morrison OR Maloney -> Silva.

No doubt on what transfer is better in the long run, but Silva got a had fixture and I'm gonna get him later anyway. Really need to drop Gorkss if he is out of the team, and Morrison have averaged over 5 points per game, so he migh just pay back the 4 points? Any thoughts?

Take a gamble and do both imo. At least with the Reading move (assuming Gorkss is dropped) you'll get a 2 point refund straight away. Also I really think Silva will be involved in a goal or two on the weekend.

I'm doing the worst I've ever done this year and I don't know why!! Here's my team and I would be grateful if you could pick out some obvious flaws.

    Mignolet
    Cuellar - Clyne - Boyce
    A. Johnson - Fellaini - mata - silva
    Rooney - Giroud - Ba

    Begovic - Hughes - sterling - sagna

1 FT and 1.8 in bank

Your back four is fairly suspect.

Mata hasn't got much recently, Silva hasn't had the best of seasons, Sunderland are terrible, Rooney has had a few okay games cancelled out by loads of blanks, Giroud has only scored four goals, Newcastle are terrible.

Not much positives...apart from Fellaini / Mata early form / Silva seems to be on the up and City have okay fixtures. Begovic has been quality too.

    Tricky captain choice this week?!

    Is Shorey (c) utter madness?

Or play safe and stay with RVP!?

Doubting this Ba injury. But if he is then I get Baines and Fellaini off my bench. Just a shame couldn't have one more injury so Michu could step in ha.

Epic Fail indeed! Hahaa. I went Amsterdam during the week so spent most of Friday sleeping when I was home then went out Friday night. Hungover Saturday. I usually do all my transfers and pick my team for next week on the Sunday.
